Abstract
Apartments are transforming in order to satisfy individuals' various personalities and lifestyles. By diversifying commodities and properties, the demands for magnification of storage spaces are also increased. Recently, supplier have made efforts to improve the variation or efficiency of space reconstruction throughout introducing the manyfold constructional methods to escape from bearing wall structures, which are creating rigid and standardized construction. Moreover, the deterioration of living conditions caused by deficient storage spaces requires exploitation of efficient types of storage. In these reasons, I assumed that the constructional system of the apartment is "Flat Plate Slab system" and tried to suggest the most proper type of shortage. Under this assumption, I performed the survey of actual conditions and the consideration of theories as follows. The actual percentage of storage spaces in apartments are merely 61% when apartments are structured. The rest of required storage spaces are made up by resident's furnitures. However, the survey shows that the storage in the living units is not satisfied in the case of structured storage spaces since they are provided in balconies. Comparing to the standards of cardinal storage space, they are also not met to the yardsticks. In particular, the capability to store in bedrooms within living units are critically low. These results are derived from the architectural plans mainly designing residential spaces, which are interpreted as the tendency to enlarge the residential area in living units. Therefore, this study is aimed to explore the storage spaces with variableness, which can minimize the spaces used for the storage in residential spaces and admit the diverse demands. As the best alternative, I harnessed the 'Built-in Wall System' and thus I suggested the machinism proper to flat plate slab system as follows: First, we consider the theoretical notions of open-buildings and possibility to apply it since it is possible to realize an open-building in the case of adopting the flat-plate-slab systemized apartments. In the process that the built-in wall system is considered as an In-fill element of the open-building, the role of built-in wall system is defined as a variable which can perform the lightweight enclosure wall system and a storage function. Second, In order to simplify procedures of optional equipment, movement and dismantlement of built-in wall system, I organized the built-in wall system as lightweight enclosure wall and door. In the process of selecting the materials, I considered the functionality, durability and sound insulation. In addition, I suggested the modularization of closets. Third, in spite of In-fill elements, considering the positions and functions of built-in wall, I divided into two types of modularized built-in walls: a 'movable built-in wall' with the high movability and a 'fixed built-in wall' with the low movability. The former is constructed as iron fittings for adjusting height to make it possible to control the vertical dimension of furniture upon the alternation. On the other hands, the latter is designed by the insertion of stud, which improve durability rather than movability. Fourth, as a way of equipment, I chose 'Panel Knockdown type' which ensures higher variability in the course of being prior to the built-in wall's function as In-fill elements. The inter-panel junction of built-in wall system is utilized by the hinge. Through the procedure of examining junctional details between the units of built-in wall and Supports, I used it as a filler. Consequently, storage area provided by construction are enormously enlarged the spatial replacement or substitution is increased. It means that the replacing the spaces occupied by wall to storage spaces can enhance the efficiency of storage because the structures supporting loads are not bearing walls but columns. Furthermore, built-in wall systems allow more various composition and more variable equipment of storage space. In this study, thus, I suggested the two types of built-in wall: movable and fixed built-in walls. To guarantee the efficiency and variability of these types, I studied about the junctional details.Considering the high demand for more extensive storage spaces in the case of standard-sized apartments, It is predicted that the application of built-in wall system will be fruitful for improvement of living condition. Therefore, the constant studies on the various junctional details will be required to enhance the application of built-in wall system.
