Abstract
The purpose of this study is to develop a teaching plan of paper modeling for the fine arts class. To accomplish the purpose, this study examines a general understanding and review of paper modeling, one of the formative practices in the fine arts class, finds how to be taught paper modeling effectively, and develops a teaching plan of paper modeling practices that will be useful and helpful for children. In modern arts, various materials and expression techniques have been used in the field as children's expression techniques in the formative practices have been introduced to the fine arts education. Above all, the role of paper modeling using a paper as a matter has established as an important field of the formative practices, while expression techniques using a paper has been newly highlighted. Although various fields of the fine arts have seen practices related to paper modeling, it is true that there are much to be developed a teaching plan of paper modeling, as well as the systematic practices guidance. The researcher believe that the general understanding of paper modeling, a review of various techniques, and the offer of a teaching plan will help children soften their aesthetic nature, and that the instruction of paper modeling practices will inspire the nature-friendly beauty in children. Therefore, this study is to examine various techniques using a paper, as well as a review of the traditional paper literature. Also, it seeks to find a new definition of what paper modeling is, its educational significance, and different approach for different children's developmental process in the pursuit of the comprehensive and systematic study. For the concrete method, freshmen of the Department of Fine Arts for Children at Sahmyook College in Seoul were participated in a course of major practices for a semester. The participants were asked to practice paper modeling in various ways, make a portfolio for the works during the semester, and present it so as to search paper modeling practices that will have a positive and useful influence on children. As a result of the study, it has been found that paper modeling practices can have many expression techniques which cause children to be stabilize emotionally and have interest in paper modeling; that it deserves to be studied as a field of expression techniques in the fine arts; and that it has the advantage of having children experience friendly-accessible aesthetic activities in various pattern using a paper. Again, a concrete teaching plan was developed by practices pattern in terms of kindergarteners, lower graders and higher graders of elementary schools, in order that students who were major in the fine arts education could use it for teaching children in the field. Based on the results, it is suggested that the department of fine arts for children need to arrange the comprehensive practices of paper modeling systematically, together with continuous development and study of a good teaching plan. That is, various development of materials related to paper, diversified study of the techniques, development of practices program by age, its adjustment to the traditional literature, all of them has stressed the importance of paper modeling in the future fine arts education. Besides, the discussion on the actual teaching plans are required to be considered continuously.
