웹 기반 협동적 문제풀이 방식 영어 학습 시스템 설계 및 구현

Abstract

The present study purposed to suggest a Web-based cooperative English learning system that utilized the concept and structure of intelligent tutoring system so that 1st-year middle students may study English with interest. Intelligent tutoring system has several educational elements. This is learning environment quite similar to the situation that a learner sits in front of a human teacher and they teach and learn. In reality using the system and interacting with the computer throughout the entire flow of learning, learners improve their understanding without losing their interest in learning. In addition, there are many researches on online cooperative learning and its effects in order to correct the problem that, as learners contact only the contents and media of learning in Web-based remote learning based on self-directed study, many of them fall away due to lack of motive for continuation, this study attempted. Thus this study designed and implemented a Web-based cooperative learning system that enables ability-based learning and interaction with the learning system by adding intelligent elements. Besides intelligent interaction between teachers and learners, the system provides horizontal interaction among learners, which expects to double the educational effect of the system. Moreover, considering the insufficient number of teachers and resources, it is practically difficult to achieve the goal of maximizing individual students’ potential for growth and the efficiency of education through utmost consideration of differences in individual students’ abilities, aptitude, necessity and interest as emphasized in the 7th Education Curriculum. As a means of filling up the deficiency, the use of Web system is a practical option. Thus this study suggests a new English study system that, overcoming the one-way communication of existing Web education systems, determines each student’s level for ability-based study and induces learners to participate actively through continuous questioning and answering in mutual cooperation on the Web so that they may not lose interest in learning English.;중학교 1학년 과정의 영어를 흥미 있게 학습할 수 있도록 지능형 교육 시스템의 개념과 구성을 활용한 웹 기반의 협동 영어 학습 시스템을 제시하고자 한다. 지능형 교육시스템은 여러 가지 교육적 요소를 가지고 있다. 이것은 학습자와 인간교사가 일대 일로 앉아 배우고 가르치려고 할 때 실제 발생하는 것과 매우 유사한 학습환경으로, 실제로 학습자들이 이 시스템을 사용하면서 전체적인 학습의 흐름 안에서 컴퓨터와의 적절한 대화를 통해 학습의 흥미를 잃지 않으면서 학습의 이해도를 높이는데 커다란 도움이 된다. 또한, 자기주도학습을 기본으로 하는 웹 기반 원격학습에서 학습자들이 학습내용과 매체만 일반적으로 접하므로 지속동기가 적어서 중도 탈락자가 많이 발생하는 문제점을 보완하고자 온라인 협동학습에 관한 연구와 그 효과에 대한 분석이 많이 이루어지고 있는 시점에서 지능적 요소가 첨가되어 수준별 학습과 시스템과의 상호작용이 가능한 웹 기반 협동 학습 시스템을 설계, 구현함은 의미 있는 새로운 시도가 될 것이다. 교수자와 학습자간의 지능화된 상호작용 이외에 학습자와 학습자간의 수평적 상호작용을 함께 제공함으로써 그 교육의 효과를 배가할 수 있을 것이다. 또한 제 7차 교육과정에서 강조하고 있는 학생의 능력, 적성, 필요, 흥미에 따라 개인차를 최대한 고려하여 학생 개개인의 성장 잠재력과 교육의 효율성을 극대화하고자 하는 목표는 현실적으로 교사와 자원의 부족으로 교실수업만으로는 달성하기 어렵다. 이를 효과적으로 보완할 수 있는 매체로서 웹 시스템을 활용하는 것은 현실성 있는 대안이다. 이에 기존 웹 교육 시스템이 갖고 있는 일방성의 단점을 극복하여 학생 개개인의 실력을 판별하여 수준별 학습이 가능함과 동시에 웹 상에서 상호 협력하는 가운데 질문과 응답이 계속적으로 이루어짐으로써 그 참여과정에서 학습자의 지속적인 능동성을 요구하게 되어 학습에 대한 흥미를 잃지 않도록 하는 새로운 문제풀이 방식의 영어학습 시스템을 제안하여 그 교육적 효과를 기대해본다.
