신회귀(NEO RETRO)경향에 의한 식물이미지 패턴 개발 연구

Abstract

As fabric industry has developed since the Industrial Revolution, textile patterns have been changed to meet the needs of the times and given their own forms by people's lifestyles and sociocultural factors. Modem textile patterns can be classified into three large group : natural patterns of fauna and flora, hieroglyph-like patterns resembling or related to particular things, and abstract geometric patterns. Among those, plant patterns were at the zenith of their popularity in the 19th century. After the sixties they have been recreated and frequently used for clothes so far. Nowdays plant patterns are widely used to reflect the human 'Retro' nature-nostalgia for the past and pine for mother nature. Seeing this, I expect that through Neo Retro, a trend of textile pattern, human 'Retro' nature will attract public attention in post-nineties and it also will be expressed as textile patterns following the tendency of globalization. return-to-nature plant patterns and utilize it for clothing. For the theoretical background of this study, I overviewed the recurrent tendency of modern people and approached the trend of Neo Retro fashion in the aspect of the current lifestyles-the expression of this tendency. Also I gave consideration on nature in deccorative aspect and researched the history of plant patterns in textile and the trend of textile pattern for clothing, together with color classification, and I constructed the image map for the design of Neo Retro plant patterns. In the production process I skipped the surface a design and directly dyed fabrics. In the design, texture was made by the discharge printing and creasing the cloth. Dip dyeing was also used for the design. I added an explanation of discharge print theory for the understanding of this process. Overally I came to the following conclusions. One, Neo Retro trend is a recurrent expression of modem people's desire to get stable as counteraction against the chaotic situation in the end of this century. Ecology, Ethnic, Naturalism, Nostalgia, and Romanticism belong to this trend and are the decorative factors of textile and clothing patterns. Two, nowdays plant patterns are being recreated, reused and recycled, preserving their originalities. Upcoming trends of textile patterns can be expected and designed in advance through analysis of the current textile and color trends. Three, the expression of textures through paste dyeing and discharge printing And it presents enables accidental effects and designers' intentional intervention. delicate features of forms and colors of the cloth that people can sense. Four, more creative design study for textile patterns requires the consideration of the social, economical, artistic, functional and fashional aspects of that time and should be applied to popular clothing fabrics through the efforts of creative designers.;직물 패턴은 산업혁명 이후 섬유 산업이 발달하게 되면서 소재의 개발과 함께 패턴의 디자인은 시대에 맞게 변화하여 사회적 요인과 문화적 요인, 생활양식 등에 의해 독특한 모습을 지녀왔다. 현대의 직물 패턴의 분류를 크게 3가지로 나누면 자연물의 패턴인 동·식물의 패턴과 특정한 사물에 관한 인공물의 패턴, 그리고 추상적인 형태의 기하학적인 패턴이 인간의 창의력에 의해 변화하여 형성되었다. 이러한 패턴의 분류 중 식물 패턴은 19세기에 절정을 이루며 60년대 이후 오늘날에 이르기까지 재창조되어 의상직물 패턴에 활발히 쓰여지고 있다. 현재 이러한 식물 패턴의 쓰임은 인간의 회귀(Retro) 심리인 과거에 대한 향수와 자연에 대한 그리움의 반영으로 널리 쓰여졌으며 이러한 양상을 본 연구자는 앞으로 다가올 90년대 이후의 직물 패턴의 한 흐름인 신회귀(Neo Retro) 경향을 테마로 하석 인간의 회귀본능이 더욱 구체적이며 절실히 부각되리라 생각되며 이는 국제화와 세계화에 의한 직물패턴으로 나타나리라 여겨진다. 따라서 이를 자연 복고주의적인 식물 이미지 패턴의 개발과 연관시켜 본 연구과제인 신회귀 경향에 의한 식물이미지 패턴 개발에 대하여 연구하여 의상의 직물 패턴으로 활용하려는데 그 목적을 두었다, 연구의 이론적 배경으로는 신회귀 경향을 살피기 위해 현대인의 회귀 본능 에 대한 현황과 그로 인해 표현되는 생활문화 스타일을 접근하여 신회귀경향으로 변화된 패션의 흐름을 개관하여 본다. 또한 식물 이미지 패턴의 개발을 위해 자연에 대한 장식적 고찰과 직물에서의 식물 패턴의 흐름을 살펴보고 90년 이후의 의상직물 패턴의 경향을 색상분류와 함께 알아보며 제작의도에서 신회귀 경향에 의한 식물이미지 패턴의 개발을 위한 이미지 맵(Image Map)을 구성하였다. 제작과정의 방법으로는 종이작업(Surface design)을 생략하고 직물에 직접 염색하는 방법으로 발염기법과 직물의 꾸김에 의한 텍스츄어와 침염을 이용하여 디자인 하였고 본 작얼에 제작과정의 특징인 발염에 대한 이론적 설명을 덧붙여 이해를 도왔다. 전체적으로는 이러한 이론과 실제제작을 통하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 신회귀 경향은 90년대 현대인들이 세기말의 혼돈에 의한 반동의 작용으로 안정을 취하려는 욕구가 회귀현상으로 표출되며, 에콜로지(Ecology), 에스닉(Ethnic), 내추럴리즘(Naturalism), 노스탤지아(Nostalgia), 로맨티즘(Romantism)등으로 나타나 의상과 직물 패턴에 한 부분으로 장식되며 둘째, 식물 패턴의 흐름은 그 고유성을 유지하면서 현대에 재창조되어 재활용됨을 알 수 있었고, 직물 경향과 색상 분류를 통해 다음에 올 직물패턴의 경향이 유추되고 디자인된다. 셋째, 제작 방법인 호료와 발염제를 이용한 텍스츄어의 표현은 우연적인 효과가 의도성이 개입되어 직물에서 느낄 수 있는 형태와 색상의 섬세한 특징을 알 수 있었다. 넷째, 보다 창의적인 직물 패턴 개발의 연구는 그 시대적 사회성, 경제성, 예술성, 기능성, 패션성이 포함되어야 하며 의식적인 디자이너의 독창적이며 기능적인 미의 패턴 개발로 대중적인 의상 직물에 적용시켜야 할 것이다.
