주름의 조형성을 이용한 의상디자인 연구

Abstract

Dress and its ornament has been realized not only for the purpose of its practical use but for the original human will to beautifually decorate the human body. The potential of dress as a decorative means is not only a source of great sensual satisfaction but also a very important exit of artistic urge and self-expression. In order to heighten the decorative nature of dress, various kinds of decorative technique such as 'quilting', 'patchwork', 'embroidery', 'felting', 'plaiting', 'plane design', etc. have been developed, and these decorative techniques are taking of part of expressing dress by means of plastic art. Therefore, in the present study, with a decoratively plaiting technique whose motif is lines chosen among many decorative techniques, the natural beauty derived from ruffles and pleats geometrical lines were introduced into the design of dress ＆ its ornament. The purpose of the present study is to suggest an expressional method of new decorative plaits through which the decorative nature of dress can be doubled, thereby creating the dress of high valued added which has both the functions of dress ＆ its ornament and major artistic, decorative nature. The contents and content of the present study include a review of the kinds, forms and formativeness of decorative plaits, and the transitional history of decorative plaits in the history of dress ＆ its ornament and the anlaysis of the forms of decorative plaits as well. Also, the formative characteristics of lines, the basic character of plaits, and the significance of plaits in dress ＆ its ornament were reviewed through literature, and the cases that lines were introduced into dress were inspected and analysed. Based on that using a motif, 'combination of lines' 8 piece of work were produced focussing on the expression of the formative nature of plaits. Synthetic results for such a study are as follows: First in a review of a theoretical context it could be identified that even though the decorative plaits introduced in modern dress and its ornament are utilized in various forms, many parts of the method applied are only the imitation or reoccurence and application of the forms appeared in the history of dress ＆ its ornament. Second, since decorative plaits have a peculiar formativeness such as the sense of rhythm, repetition and directional effect of lines, etc. on the plane and in the three-dimensional space, decoratively plaiting is a decorative technique which can be individually employed in the modern design of dress ＆ its ornament. Third, various changes of dying effect by the gradation of colors and the width of plaits can heighten more the artistic nature of decorative plaits. Fourth the combination of lines is an applicable method that can be well harmonized with the character of lines that decorative plaits have, and it is also an expressional method to diversify the sense of formativeness that decorative plaits have.;복식은 일상생활에 있어서의 실용을 목적으로 하는 것만이 아니라 신체를 아름답게 장식하기 위한 인간의 근원적 의지가 있어 실현된 것이다. 복식의 장식으로서의 잠재력은 커다란 감각적 만족의 출처일 뿐 아니라 예술적 충동과 자기표현을 위한 중요한 출로이다. 복식의 장식성을 높이기 위해 퀼팅, 패치워크, 자수, 펠팅, 주름잡기, 염색 등 여러 종류의 장식기법들이 발달되어 왔으며 이런 장식기법들은 조형예술로서의 의상을 표현하는데 일익을 담당하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 복식의 장식기법 중 주름기법을 선택하였고 선의 교차, 밀집과 분할에 의한 선구성을 주제로 하여 러플주름에서 파생되는 자연스러운 곡선미와 플리츠의 기하학적인 선을 구성요소로 디자인하였다. 또한 주름의 기능성보다 장식성에 치중하여 복식이 지니는 장식의 기능을 배가시킬 수 있는 새로운 주름의 표현방법을 제시하여 보다 예술적인 장식성을 갖는 복식을 창조하는데 본 연구의 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 내용 및 이론적 배경으로는 주름의 종류와 형태, 기능, 조형성 및 복식사에서의 주름의 변천사를 살펴보고 현대복식에 있어서의 주름의 형태를 분석하였다. 또한 주름의 기초적인 성질인 선의 조형적 특성과 복식에서의 의미를 문헌을 통하여 고찰하였고 선이 복식에 도입된 실례를 조사, 분석하였다. 이를 토대로 하여 선구성이라는 모티브를 사용하여 주름의 조형성을 표현하는데 중점을 두어 8점의 작품을 제작하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 종합하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 이론적 배경을 고찰함에 있어 현대의 복식에 도입된 주름은 다양한 형태로 사용되어지나 적용방법의 많은 부분이 복식사에서 나타나는 형태의 재현과 응용이라는 것을 확인하였다. 둘째, 주름은 평면과 3차원 공간에서 율동감, 선의 반복과 방향효과 등 독특한 조형성을 가지므로 현대 복식디자인에 개성적으로 사용될 수 있는 장식기법이다. 셋째, 색상의 그라데이션 염색과 효과와 주름폭의 다양한 변화는 주름의 예술성을 더욱 높일 수 있었다. 넷째, 선의 교차, 밀집과 분할에 의한 선구성은 주름이 갖고 있는 특성과 잘 조화될 수 있으며 주름의 조형감을 효과적으로 표현할 수 있는 모티브이다.
