Pop Art에 나타난 人間像에 관한 연구

Abstract

Psychologist Rogers C., concerning the modern people's sound human relations, argues that first, the efficient man is open-minded in his self-perception (awareness of self, awareness of his own task, awareness of others); second, sees himself as a being living being in actual circumstances; third, sees himself as a most sound means to realize his purpose. The modern people's such human nature which is open-minded, existential, and affirmative is well reflected in Pop Art. Dada movement was originated by Marcel Duchamp's introduction of ready-made articles into art in the turmoil of World War Ⅰ. This was progressed as an attempt to the possibility of a new form of art through prudent reflection of existing arts and thus eliminating conservative fixed concept. The rapid development of material civilization since Word War Ⅱ in 1945 has brought the weariness of abstract fine arts. Thereby, artists, while turning their eyes to the realities and positively accepting the reality of surroundings, have given new efforts to narrowing the gap between the realities-accepting attitude of Pop Art and the realities-negative, anti-art attitude of Dada. The influence of Pop Art can not be overlooked in the respect that it has utilized of the mass production of modern society and characterized by technological revolution, it has materialized a new form of art. It's significance is in the breaking away from the belief in the unique nature of the traditional belief of 'a piece of original work', and in realizing the routinization and universalization of arts as it shows in the open-minded attitude that any object around can become a piece a work of art. The Pop Art, that fill up the gap between arts and life through universalizing of arts, uses the images familiar with general public - the diversified human figure - as for its subject matter, and its significance is recognized in the respect that it has increased the closeness between the public and arts. Therefore, in this thesis, I tried to examine the human figures appeared in various Pop Arts as an essential element. Additionally, in the thesis it was attempted to review the background of the historical significance and advent of Pop Art in the'50s and'60s in America, England, and Europe where Pop Art has been progessing. Also, by reviewing the artistic world and the techniques of Pop artists who dealt with human figures, I could compare the differences and similarities of each artist, and it is my attempt to study furthur the status of Pop Art and it's influence on the Modern Art.;現代人의 바람직한 人間關係에 關하여 인본주의 심리학자인 로저스(Rogers. C.)는 효율적인 사람은 첫째로, 自身에 대한 知覺(Perception, 자신에 대한 意識, 자기 課業에 대한 意識, 他人에 대한 意識)이 開放的이고 둘째로 스스로를 實在的 狀況속에서 살고 있는 存在로 보며, 셋째로 자신에 대해 자기 目的을 實現하기 위한 가장 바람직한 手段이라고 認識한다는 것이다. 이러한 開放的, 實在的, 肯定的인 열려 있는 現代人의 人性的 特性은 Pop art에 잘 반영되어 있다. 제1차 世界大戰의 와중에 발생한 다다(Dada)는 마르셀 뒤샹(Marcel Duchamp)이 레디 메이드(Ready-made)라는 기성품을 藝術의 文脈으로 끌어들이는 데서 시작되었다. 이는 事物에 대한 人間의 固定觀念을 깨뜨리며, 旣存 藝術에 대한 신중한 反省과 새로운 藝術의 可能性을 타진하는 진지한 시도로 진행되었다. 1945년 이후는 제2차 世界大戰으로 인한 정신적 물질적 폐허의 상황이었지만 급속한 物質文明의 發達은 抽象美術에 대한 권태감을 느끼게 해주었고 이에 藝術家들은 현실에 눈을 돌려 周邊環境을 적극적으로 수용하면서 藝術과 現實의 거리를 좁히려는 새로운 노력을 시도하였다. 바로 여기에 Pop Art의 현실 수용적 태도와 Dada의 현실 부정적, 반예술적 態度와의 차이점이 있는 것이다. Pop Art의 영향은 技術革命의 時代로 특징지워지는 現代社會의 大量生産과 大量消費의 生活樣式을 새로운 視覺으로 비추어 적극적으로 활용함으로서 새로운 形態의 藝術이 가능케 했다는 점에서 간과할 수 없으며 그 중요성은 傳統的인 藝術에서 보이는 예술작품의 유일성에 대한 信念을 무너뜨렸고 또한 생활의 주변에 널려 있는 어떠한 사물이든지 藝術 作品化될 수 있다는 開放的인 態度를 보여줌으로서 藝術의 日常化, 普遍化를 실현시켰다. 이러한 藝術의 日常化, 普編化를 통해 藝術과 生活간의 간격을 메워주려는 Pop Art는 그 소재의 선택에 있어서 一般大衆들과 친숙한 이미지-多樣한 人間像-를 使用함으로서 大衆과 藝術의 親密感을 증대시켰다는 점에서 그 중요성을 인정받고 있다. 그러므로 본 論文에서는 Pop Art에 나타난 人間像을 照明하는데 硏究의 주안점을 두기로 한다. 그리고 Pop Art의 美術史的 意義와 出現 背景에 대해 考察해 보고 Pop Art가 활발히 進行되었던 1250~60年代를 중심으로 하여 미국, 영국, 유럽의 展開狀況을 고찰해 보도록 한다. 또한 Pop Art에 나타난 人間像을 주로 다룬 作家들의 作品世界와 그들의 表現技法을 알아보고 그들이 다룬 人間像의 공통점과 차이점을 비교하여 살펴봄으로서 Pop Art의 位相과 現代美術에 미친 영향에 대해 硏究해 보고자 한다.
