빛 이미지의 추상적 표현

Abstract

현대의 조형예술은 자연을 있는 그대로 재현하던 과거의 관념에 대한 끊임없는 반성과 모색, 탈피와 실험이며, 자기만의 독창적인 시각언어와 조형이념을 추구함으로서 그 소재나 표현양식이 다양화되고 있다. 이에 따라 예술과 기술의 화해적 관계가 이루어지고 있으며, 염색예술 또한 여러가지 재료 및 방법을 근거로 해서 그 영역이 크게 확대되어 가고 있다. 예술가는 자연세계 속에서 자기를 발견하고, 자신의 순수한 본성에 바르게 대답하는 요소들을 그곳에서 선택한다. 본 연구자는 물리적인 존재인 「빛」에서 얻은 이미지를 표현소재로 선택하며 그 「존재의 신비」를 형상화 해 보고자 한다. 태양이나 그 핵이 상징하는 무한한 에너지와 밝음의 신비, 빛의 확산과 반사, 석양의 순간적인 찬란함, 그리고 무지개의 생성등과 같이, 모든 빛은 영원과 찰라의 암시성을 내포하며 그 생명감은 환상적인 감동을 준다. 본 연구는 빛과 그 빛이 주는 이미지를 조형적으로 표현하는 과정에서 염색예술만이 갖는 독자적인 표현의 가능성을 모색하는데 목적을 두며, 연구자가 의식하는 가시적인 세계와 비가시적인 세계와의 연결을 빛이 가지는 생명감에서 찾아보고자 한다. 이러한 목적을 위한 이론적 배경으로 빛의 의미 및 빛의 표현에 대하여 문헌을 통한 고찰을 하였고, 연구자의 심상에 남는 빛의 실재를 표상화 시키는 작품 작업을 통하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째 태양이나 촛불의 이미지는 환상적이어서 추상표현을 하기에 적절한 소재였다. 둘째 의도적이고 계획에 의한 납염법과 자유로운 번짐법을 사용함으로써 우연과 필연의 조화와 관계성의 효과를 얻었다. 셋째 형태의 단순화로 여백의 미를 살리는 구도와 공간효과를 얻을 수 있었다. 넷째 염료와 섬유의 특성을 연구한 기법의 개발로 다양한 표현이 가능하며 공예로서의 염색뿐만 아니라 순수조형예술로서의 염색이 모두 독자적인 세계를 구축할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 그러나 번짐액을 사용하여 환상적 분위기를 고조시키고자 하였을 때, 예기치 않은 번짐이나 응축이 생기는 수가 있었으며 이로 인하여 연구자의 의도대로 유도되지 않는 어려움이 있었다. 이러한 문제점은 계속적인 작업으로 해결해 나가고자 하며 본 연구가 앞으로의 작품제작에 있어 창의적인 표현의 확대를 위한 계기가 될 것으로 본다.;A mode of expression in the modern formative arts has been evolved in many ways by way of its unique visual language and the idea of arts as opposed to that of the formative arts in the past which described Nature as it was. The dyeing arts also has extended its application mating use of diverse materials and methods. I, in this paper, will formalize the images acquired from the physical sunlight. The sun gives us the following images: endless energy, mysterious spreading light, and the blaze of the sun, which imply both eternity and moment. The sun has a beautiful life. The purposes of this paper are not only to find out the possibility to express the life of the sun formatively through the unique method of the dyeing arts but also to figure out the connection between the visible and the Invisible world through the sense of life residing in the sunlight. For those purposes, I studied the meaning of the sunlight, the history of it, and the expressions of it. After producing six pieces of art for visualizing the image which I got from the sunlight, I reached the following conclusions : Firstly, it was suitable for an abstract expression of the sunlight to set up a space for expressing the medial elements between the two and the three dimensions. Secondly, the usage of the spreading method and the coloring method by the paraffin at the same time enabled to express the harmony and the relationship between an accident and necessity. Thirdly, I found out that more through study is needed to develop the elements to transform materials into spiritual image for the purpose of making a bolder composition of the picture and spacious picture effect even though the simple formation does not always coincide with the simplicity of the individual experience. I regret that I could not express the sensuous world to the full in my work production and escape from a fixed idea about the symbolic color of the sunlight. However, I would like to devote myself to solve these problems through the continuous work production and I hope this study would contribute to the extension of the creative expression in work production in the future.
