아플리케를 응용한 의상디자인

Abstract

복식은 사람들의 창조적인 욕구를 충족시키고 개성을 표현케 하며, 착용자나 보는 사람 모두에게 예술적인 감동을 불러일으키는 인간의 미의식이 반영되는 이상적인 표현 매체이다. 현대에는 디자인의 경향이 다양화되고 창조적인 개성 표현이 강하게 부각됨에 따라 복식 디자인에 있어서 새로운 주제, 다양한 소재와 표현 기법은 디자이너에게 끊임없는 연구의 대상이 되고 있다. 디자이너의 실험 정신은 무한한 생명력과 변화성으로 인해 다양한 소재를 제공해 주는 자연에 대해 새로운 시각으로 바라봄으로써 자연의 선과 형의 조형적 재창조를 추구할 수 있게 하였으며, 복식 조형의 표현 영역을 확대시켰다. 이에 본 연구는 무한한 다양성을 지닌 '자연의 형태'를 복식조형발상의 근원으로 삼아 눈으로 직접 지각할 수 없는 유기체의 세포의 형태를 복식디자인의 주제로 도입하였으며 다양한 형태의 예술적 표현을 통하여 시감각적 세계의 확장으로 독특한 개성의 추구와 고부가가치의 상품을 창출하는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구의 방법으로서 생명체의 근원인 세포를 조형 활동의 대상으로 하였고, '자연의 형태' 의 하나로서의 '세포의 형태'에 대해 고찰하기 위해, 세포 형태의 특징과 종류를 조사하여 조형적으로 분석하였다. 복식 디자인의 표현 기법으로서 아플리케의 정의와 역사, 여러 종류를 문헌을 통해 조사하였으며, 복식에 도입된 아플리케의 여러 유형을 분류 조사하였다. 이를 토대로 세포의 형태를 응용한 복식 디자인으로 총 8작품이 제작되었고, 작품의 소재는 작고 미세한 세포의 형태가 가지는 느낌에 부합시키기 위해 쉬폰이나 오건디 등의 투명 소재를 중심으로 사용하되, 아플리케에 사용하는 소재는 모사에서부터 공단, 주름잡은 쉬폰 등 여러 소재를 혼합하여 사용하였다. 아플리케기법 표현 과정에서 '스티치'는 조각천을 바탕천에 붙이고자 하는 단순한 기능에서 벗어나 세포가 가지는 활동성과 생명력을 표현하기 위해 스티치 자체를 강조하여 표현하였다. 작품 제작을 통하여 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 세포의 형태를 응용하는 복식 디자인이 일시적 주제가 아닌 무한한 변화의 가능성을 내포하고 있음을 알 수 있었으며, 일반적인 시각으로 볼 수 없는 세포의 형태를 복식에 이용하여 시각화시킴으로써 표현 대상의 범위를 넓힐 수 있었다. 둘째, 아플리케 기법을 사용함으로써 다양한 질감과 색채를 지닌 직물의 조화와 부수적인 장식 재료의 풍부함으로 인해 시각적 표면 재질감을 높일 수 있었다. 셋째, 세포의 복잡 미묘한 구조와 미세한 형태를 표현하는데 있어, 핸드머신 스티치(Hand Machine Stitch)는 독특한 재질감 표현에 중요한 매체가 되었으며, 리드미컬한 스티치 선의 사용으로 세포의 활발한 생명력과 끊임없는 변화력이 표현되어 정적이고 고정된 이미지가 아닌, 자연적이며 살아 있는 아름다움을 느낄 수 있었다. '세포의 형태'라는 주제의 적용으로 인해 표현 대상의 범위를 넓히는 긍정적 영향은 미쳤으나, 새로운 주제이니 만큼 앞으로 세포 형태의 미적 측면과 구조의 조형성을 계속적으로 탐구해 나갈 필요가 있으며, 그 동적인 형태나 변화를 관찰하여 복식 디자인에의 적극적이면서도 조형적인 접근을 시도해 나가야 함을 느꼈다. 또한 생명체의 근원인 세포의 형태가 너무나 미세하고 복잡하여 세포형태의 사실적 재현에만 그쳐서는 복식에의 접근에 한계성을 가진다는 점을 알게 되었으며, 이에 세포 형태의 추상화, 단순화, 조형화에 대한 연구가 다각적으로 계속되어 아플리케기법 뿐만 아니라, 더 다양한 기법과 재질감으로 세포가 가지는 아름다움과 신비로운 생명력이 펼쳐질 수 있기를 바라는 바이다.;Fashion is a means of satisfying an individual's creativity and a way to express one's character. The artistic emotion and sentiment aroused by fashion both for the person wearing it and the observer renders it in ideal medium through which one expresses beauty. In modern times, fashion design has diversified to emphasize individual creativity and the designer is forced to constantly seek out new designs, material, and motifs to express in fashion. The experimental attitude of the designer gives fashion a ethereal life force stemming from change and a new perspective on nature which supplies the designer with endless sources of material, The lines and forms that we easily encounter in nature is, through transformation and creative force, re-introduced to us as fashion design. The study is devoted to the discovery of nature's forms in all its splendor and variety, even that which the naked eye may not perceive. Such as the microscopic cell formation of the living being which is applied to fashion design as a central motif, transformed through artistic techniques to express visually the expanding world of individuality and value in fashion design. The method of study applied first encountered the cell formation. The source of all life and nature's most simplified forms, the cell formation is divided into the actual forms and type in order to be fully analysed. The fashion design aspect of the study is devoted to the expression of applique, the concept and its history. Through texts and theory the various types of applique are defined. Based on the findings, 8 fashion design projects which apply the cell formation are presented. The materials used were chiffon or organdy which enhance the essence of the cell and for the applique, wool, velvet and ruffled chiffon were used. The applique method purports to escape the simplified 'stitch' method of quilting together pieces of material. By emphasizing the stitches, the formation of the cells is enhanced and they become an essential part of the expression. The conclusions are as follows: 1. The application of cell formations in fashion design holds great potential in that the design possibilities are endless. That which escapes the naked eye holds great mystique and the formation of the cell visualized in fashion design expands the use of motifs in fashion design expanding the perspective of the designer. 2. The applique method enhances the use of various textures and colors in material resulting in greater harmony and balance and boosting the visual effect of the use of various decorations. 3. The complexity of the cell formation and the sophisticated designs which can be derived from it resulted in a very unique expression of texture through the Hand Machine Stitch. The rhythmical stitch lines were a perfect medium in expressing the vitality and change which is essential to the cell unit. The motif of cell formation has opened new horizons in the selection of design motifs, however, successive studies should further enhance the recreation of the complex forms by analyzing the formation of the cell. The mobile nature of the motif should be accentuated in the designs. It is also important to note that perhaps the designs recreated in this study were limited to the actual form of the cell instead of the abstract formations which can be derived from nature. With further study in the applique technique and the development of the cell motif into kinetic art, the vitality of the motif shall live on in fashion design.
