양모를 재료로 한 휄트에 관한 연구

Abstract

인류가 양을 방목하기 시작한 신석기시대 이래로 휄트(Felt)는 인간생활과 밀접한 관계를 맺어왔다. 그러나 농경문화의 뿌리깊은 전통속에서 양의 목축이 성행되지 못했던 우리나라에서는 경제가 양적으로나 질적으로 성장한 최근에 이르러서야 양모에 대한 관심이 고조되고, 양모를 재료로 하는 휄트작품이 제작되기 시작하였다. 특히 최근에는 정부의 수입자유화 정책 실시로 양모의 구입이 종전보다 휠씬 용이해짐에 따라 보다 다양한 소재와 표현기법을 이용한 휄트제작이 활발히 이루어 질것으로 보여지고 있다. 이러한 추세에 비례하여 개성있는 작품제작을 위한 양모의 선택과 염색방법에 대한 보다 깊은 이해와 연구가 요청되고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본 논자는 뉴질랜드산을 중심으로한 양모의 종류와 특성 및 염색방법을 정리하는데 중점을 두었으며 실제 작품제작에 있어서는 자연을 대상으로한 산수의 이미지를 형상화 함으로써 동양화에서 추구되고 있는 여백의 미와 투명하고 다양한 색감을 표현하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 제1장에서 연구의 목적과 방법, 범위에 대해서 논하였고, 제2장 에서는 휄트의 기원, 휄트의 특성 및 양모의 종류와 그 염색방법을 파악 하였으며, 제3장에서는 작품제작 및 분석으로써 無와 空의 동양의 전통적사상을 바탕으로한 공간상의 여백의 미를 대상으로 연구 분석하였다.;Since the Neolithic era when mankind began to raise to put sheeps on pasture, Wool fleece has been closely linked with human life. However, in our country, where few sheeps have been raised because the weather and geographieal condition. So the wool has been regarded as expensive one by the people. These days, as economy has grown up, they import particularly pursuant to the policy of import liberalization enforced by the government, it is anticipated that the wool procurement would be easier. The way to direct purchase the wool materials by the artist appears to be possible through mailing order like the advanced nations. I'm sure this encourage the felt makers to produce, more diversified forms and expressive techniques. In this situation, deeper understanding and consecutive studies on the choice of wools and its dyeing method should be required making individual and exclusive artworks. I studied the archaeological origin of felt making, the property of felt and the kinds of wool and its dyeing methods. A series of analysis emphasized on the concept of oriental beauty to fill in the blank space that were based on the ideology for "Nihility" as well as the ideology for emptiness. My work for this thesis is based on such oriental thought found on the oriental paintings. So I concentrated on the composition of harmony with the positive and negative space. The image of the hill and water on my work show the land of calm like a Korean image. By so doing, the process of actual production of such felt goods have been circumstantially explained in every detail with this particular study.
