아동용 학용품 일러스트레이션에 관한 연구

Abstract

신체적, 정신적으로 성장시기에 있는 학령기 아동들에게 있어 학용품은 물리적인 사물 그 자체로 그치는 것이 아니라 아동의 시각 환경, 학습환경을 조성하는 중요한 의미를 가진다. 이는 학용품에 표현되어지는 일러스트레이션에 의해 가능하며 그 내용은 아동의 연령별, 정서, 지적발달을 근거로 하여 당연히 교육적으로 제작되어야 한다. 이렇듯 일러스트레이션이 갖는 중요성에 비하여 현실은 이에 대한 인식이나 관심은 부족한 상태이며, 그 디자인의 질 또한 매우 빈약한 실정이다. 특히 아동의 조형적 기호에 대한 뚜렷한 이해나 기준없이 피상적이며 상업적으로 제작되어, 교육적이어야 하는 학용품이 오히려 아동의 정서나 학습에 유해한 요소로 지적되고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 교육적인 의미에서 아동에게 흥미와 정서발달에 도움을 줄 수 있고 올바른 학습환경을 조성할 수 있는 바람직한 학용품 일러스트레이션의 방향을 모색하는데 그 목적이 있다. 그 이론적 기반으로 아동의 인지발달, 인지발달에 따른 美的嗜好, 아동의 그림 嗜好와 학용품 일러스트레이션의 역할에 대해 문헌을 통해 고찰하였으며, 일러스트레이션의 디자인 분석을 위해 기존의 국민학교 저학년용 학습장을 중심으로 소재·형태·색채로 구분하여 분석하였다. 이러한 본 연구의 결과 학용품 일러스트레이션에서 요구되는 것은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 아동의 연령별, 정서적·지적발달에 적합한 소재개발 및 내용전개가 이루어져야 한다. 둘째, 우리 문화의 주체성을 확립시키기 위해 외국 일러스트레이션에 대한 모방이나 복사는 지양되어야 한다. 세째, 색채는 무계획한 색채나열에 그칠게 아니라 색채의 구성·배색 원리와 아동의 색채기호를 이해하여, 일러스트레이션의 내용과 전체적인 분위기에 맞게 조화롭게 채색되어야 한다. 넷째, 형태는 아동의 형태인식에 근거를 두어 표현되어져야 한다. 다섯째, 아동이 가장 많은 관심을 가지는 만화적 표현은 단순히 형태모방에만 그칠게 아니라, 교육적인 도움을 줄 수 있는 의미가 담겨져 있는 표현이 되어야한다. 이상과 같이 바람직한 학용품 일러스트레이션을 위해서는 무엇보다도 먼저 아동에 대한 근본적인 이해와 연구를 시도해야 하며 아동용 학용품에 관한 진정한 요구가 무엇인가를 정립해야 한다.;For the school children who are at the period of physical ＆ mental growth, "school supplies", rather than being just physical things, have an important meaning that they create the visual ＆ studying circumstance of the children. This can be made possible through the illustration which are experssed on the school supplies, and their contents should be produced, of course educationally, based on the ages, feeling ＆ intellectual developments of the children. As we have seen above, compared to the importance which illustrations have, the reality is such that there is not sufficient perceptions or concerns about the subject, and also the quality of their design seems to be very poor. Especially the school supplies, which were produced superficially ＆ commercially without having clear understandings or criteria about children's creative taste and which must be educational, are pointed out to be a dangerous element to the children's feelings ＆ studyings. Accordingly, the goal of this study will be to find out a direction for the illustration of school supplies, which can be helpful to the childrens's developments of interests ＆ feelings in educational perspectives and which can create correct studying-environments for the children. As its theoretical backgrounds, literatures which are related to cognitive development ＆ aesthetic taste according to the cognitive development, children's taste about pictures and which aye related to the rate of school supplies' illustration, were examined and for the purpose of analyzing the design, workbooks for low grade students of the elementary schools were divided into the categories of materials, shapes ＆ colors and these were analyzed. Based on the results obtained from the study, following matters will be required for the illustrations of school supplies. Firstly, developments of materials ＆ contents, which can fit for the children's ages, feelings ＆ intellectual development, should be achieved. Secondly, for the purpose of securing the subjectivity of our Korean culture, imitatins or copies of foreign illustrations should be avoided. Thirdly, colors, rather than being and haphazardous ennumeration of colors, should be used in such a way that colors can fit for the contents ＆ general atmosphere of the illustrations through understing the composition principle of the colors and through understanding the color-taste of the children. Fourthly, their shapes (or Gestalts) should be expressed based on the Gestalt-perception (or shape-perception) of the children. As I mentioned above, for the desirable illustrations of school supplies, above all, basic understandings ＆ studies about the children should be attempted, and the earnest ＆ true demands for the children's ,school supplies should be examined ＆ established.
