지퍼를 이용한 확대 복식디자인 연구

Abstract

복식의 확대 현상은 '양'에 대한 욕망의 표현이다. 즉, 인체가 차지하는 개별적 공간내에서 양을 더욱 확장하고자 하는 욕망의 표현으로, 확장되고 부풀려진 의복을 통해 인간의 신체로부터 멀리 떨어져 있으면서 인간이 자신의 공간적 양감을 이룩하려는 것이라고도 하겠다. 이에 본 연구의 목적은 확대의 근거인 변형에 대해 이해하고 역사적으로 시대에 따라 생성 변천해 온 복식 확대 현상이 현대 패션에 어떻게 나타나고 있는가를 고찰, 확대 복식에 나타난 거대하고 무겁고 불편했던 실용성의 한계를 극복하고자 지퍼를 이용하여 확대함으로써 지퍼의 개폐여부에 따른 기능성을 부여한 디자인 제시에 있다. 즉, 조형적인 표현을 통해 착용되어지는 복식은 실용적인 기능 및 미적 기능을 포함한 심리적 기능성까지도 포괄하는 합리적 기능성을 가져야 하므로 변형되어진 의상의 조형성과 기능성까지 모두 부합되는 디자인을 제시하고 복식에 있어 표현형식의 확대를 모색하고자 한다. 본 연구는 복잡 다양한 양상을 나타내었던 현대패션에서 근래 자주 출현하고 있는 장식적이고 변형적인 확대복식의 사례를 고찰하고 이러한 확대복식의 실용적이지 못한 기능성에 대한 한계를 지퍼를 이용한 의상의 확장으로 극복하고자 시도하였다. 특히 지퍼를 열었을 때 무의 확장을 통해 변형되어진 의상의 조형성을 음미하고 새로운 실루엣을 표현함으로써, 미래패션에서 다양한 내적표현영역의 확대라는 의의를 가진다. 즉, 변형의 표현방법에 따른 의상은 인체위에 착용되어 생동적 미를 표현하게 되며 실용적 기능 및 미적 기능을 포함한 심리적 기능까지도 포괄하는 합리적 기능성을 가져야 하는데 있어서 변형의 복식들이 쾌적함이나 편안함과 거리가 먼 의상들로 제작되어졌다. 이러한 측면을 보완하기 위해 지퍼를 이용하여 이러한 단점을 보완할 수 있는 작품을 8점 제작하였고, 이러한 확대 복식은 지퍼 뿐 만이 아닌 단추나 끈 버클 등을 이용한 디자인으로 응용 될 수 있으리라 기대한다. 본 연구의 이론적 고찰과 작품제작을 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 조형예술에 있어서 변형은 내재된 인간의 내적 표현으로 복식에 있어서도 변형의 시도는 과거와 현재 그리고 미래에서도 빈번히 나타날 수 있음을 인지 할 수 있었으며, 현대패션에 있어서 변형의 창조적인 감각은 확대·과장되고 해체적이고 왜곡적인 변형으로 나타나고 있음을 알 수 있었으며, 특히 주로 역사적 절충주의와 해체적 파격성, 쾌락적 유희성, 토속적인 민속복식에서 응용되어진 확대복식디자인이 주로 제시되었음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 지퍼를 이용하여 무를 대어 확장하는 방법으로 지퍼를 열고 닫음으로써 확대복식 디자인에 있어서의 한계인 기능성을 보완할 수 있었으며, 지퍼만인 아닌 단추나 끈 등의 다른 부자재를 이용함으로써 기능적인 확대의상에 접근할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 지퍼의 개폐에 따른 낮에는 정장, 밤에는 이브닝웨어나 캐주얼한 패션으로 Day On-Off의 실용적인 의상의 가능성을 보여주었다. 셋째, 변형의 부위에 따라 확대·강조 함으로써 특히 여성의 성적 매력표현에 적합함을 알 수 있었으며, 소재에 있어서도 고무코팅한 스포티 캐주얼 소재를 클래식한 포멀한 디자인에 응용하여 저렴한 소재를 이용하여 고부가가치를 높일 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이에 본 연구를 통해 무엇보다도 의상에 있어서 실용성과 조형성을 조화시키는 것이 중요함을 인식할 수 있었다. 또한 변형의 표현방법중 텍스타일에 따른 착시적 변형, 운동감에 따른 변형, 색채나 질감의 변형 등을 이용한 복식디자인에 대한 연구가 계속되어야 할 것이다.;The phenomenon of costume expansion relates to the expression of human desire for quantity. In other words, this is an expression of human desire to further expand quantity within individual space occupied by human body: Man intends to get more voluminous while distancing himself from the body through expanded and swollen clothes. In this context, this study is designed to have an understanding of transformation as a source of expansion, to examine how the phenomenon of costume expansion coming into existence and going through changes over the lapse of time takes shape, to get over the limitation of practicality incurred by expanded garments causing inconvenience and heavy weight and to present design equipped with possibilities based on the opening and closure of zippers as a vehicle for expansion. Now that robes to be worn through molding expression should have rational and comprehensive functions including practical, aesthetic and psychological functions, this research is aimed at presenting design in accord with the molding features and functionality of transformed vestments. This study is intended to look into cases of ornamental and transformative vesture of expansion which has frequently come into being in modern fashion characterized by complicated aspects and to overcome the unpractical limitation of expanded attire with the expansion of costume using zippers. In particular, the opening of zippers leads to an appreciation of the formative aesthetics of garments through the expansion of reinforcing strips, and the expression of new silhouette relates to an expansion of future fashion to the areas of various inner expression. Garbs based on the methods of expressing transformation came to highlight vivid aesthetics on the human body, being a far cry from agreeableness and convenience in terms of the comprehensive and rational functionality mentioned above. With a view to making up for these shortcomings, the researcher made use of zippers and manufactured 8 pieces of work and thought that this kind of costume can be applied to design with buttons, strings or buckles. The researcher came to the following conclusions on the basis of the findings above. First, transformation is an inner expression of humanity in plastic art. Attempts at transformation in attire can frequently throw the past, the present and the future into stark relief. The creative sense of transformation in modern fashion has led to disintegrated and twisted transformation, which focuses on historical eclecticism, disintegrated irregularity, and expanded costume design applied to folk-ways vesture. Second, the researcher could get over the limitation of expanded costume design by opening and closing zippers with the help of expansion with zippers and reinforcing cloth strips, coming to know that not only zippers but also buttons or strings can lead to functionally expanded attire. The pieces of work showed possibilities for practical garments which can be used as formal suits in the daytime and as evening wear or casual fashion clothes. Third, the pieces of work turned out to fit in with the attractiveness of women by expanding and emphasizing the parts of transformation with rubber-coating sporty casual materials applied to classic and formal design, which can create high value added. The researcher came to understand that practicality should, above all, keep aligned with formative aesthetics. And future studies are expected to work on optical-illusion transformation, transformation based on a sense of movement and transformed color or matiere.
