역사교육 현장학습에 대한 연구

Abstract

2006년 새롭게 발표된 우리나라 중등학교의 교육과정은 관련 교과 내 지식의 변화와 사회 여건의 변화, 교육 환경의 변화, 그리고 현존하는 교육 프로그램의 적절성에 대한 검토와 평가 등에 의거하여 사회적 역사 인식 강화 방법의 일환으로 체험학습의 확대와 세계사와 통합된 국사 수업을 강조하고 있다. 그러나 이러한 현실에도 불구하고 현재 학교 교육 현실에서는 체험학습의 기회가 매우 부족하며 수학여행 같이 일괄적으로 주어진 체험학습의 기회마저 학습 프로그램 개발의 부족과 현실적 한계로 인해 역사 교육 현장학습으로서의 기능을 충분히 수행하지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 또한 생활수준의 향상으로 수학여행 같은 체험학습 장소가 중국이나 일본 등 해외로 확대되어 현장학습의 장소는 다양해지는 추세이지만 현장학습에서 실질적으로 시행되는 학습 활동 방안 개발의 부족은 세계사와 연계한 국사수업의 학습 내용을 학습자들이 제대로 습득하지 못하고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 현재 시행되고 있는 중국 수학여행의 역사교육 현장학습 활용 효과를 살펴보고 바람직한 역사 교육의 현장학습으로 중국 수학여행을 활용하기 위한 학습 활동 방안 제시하는 것이다. 중국 수학여행의 현장 학습 활동을 교과 내용과 연계한 학습 내용으로 구성하여 현장 학습 활동 방안 개발하고 이를 현장 학습에 적용해보고 이 방안이 학습자들의 학습 내용 습득과 역사 인식의 함양의 측면에서 효과가 있었는지 검증해보고자 한다. 본 연구는 중국 수학여행과 같은 해외 체험 현장 학습이 단순 관광에 그치는 것이 아니라 교과서 내용과 연계한 지식 습득과 더 나아가 학습자들이 스스로 세계사 속의 우리나라 역사에 대해 인식하고 자신만의 역사관을 구성할 수 있는 현장 학습 활동 방안을 개발한다는 데 의의가 있다. 이를 위해 먼저 2장에서는 올바른 현장 학습 활동 방안을 개발하기 위해 현장학습의 이론적 배경을 알아본다. 현장학습의 개념과 역사과에서 현장학습이 어떠한학습 효과를 가지고 있는지 살펴보았다. 3장에서는 역사과 현장학습으로서의 수학여행의 활용 효과에 대해 알아보기 위해 먼저 수학여행의 의미를 간단히 살펴보고 현재 교육현장에서 수학여행이 역사교육의 현장 학습으로서 어떠한 기능을 하고 있는지 검토하였다. 4장에서는 중국 수학여행을 역사과 현장학습으로 활용하기 위한 활동 방안을 구안하는 것이 핵심 내용을 이룬다. 이를 위해 먼저 사전 답사활동을 통해 중국 수학여행의 주제를 선정하였다. 그 결과를 토대로 수학여행 주제와 관련된 국사 교과서의 내용을 분석하고 현장 학습 활동 방안을 개발하여 학습자들에게 적용하고 그 결과를 분석하여 제시한 활동 방안을 활용하여 수학여행을 실시한 학습자들이 역사적 사실 습득과 확인, 역사 인식 함양의 효과를 얻었는지 알아보았다. 학생들의 학습 효과를 파악하기 위해서는 지식 습득의 측면을 확인하기 위해 이해, 기능, 가치?태도의 영역별 문항 평가를 별도로 실시하였고 이를 수학여행을 실시하지 않은 비교집단을 선정하여 그 효과를 살펴보았다. 또한 중국 수학여행의 활동 방안에 포함된 학습 활동 과제를 분석하여 학생들의 교과 내용과 연계한 학습 활동에 대한 이해와 역사관의 변화 등을 수행평가 방법으로 살펴보고 수행평가를 실시한 교사들의 지필 평가도 함께 분석하였다. 마지막으로 중국 수학여행의 역사 교육 현장학습에 대한 인식과 흥미도 등 정의적 측면을 알아보기 위해 학습자들에게 사후 설문 검사를 실시하였다. 5장에서는 교과 내용과 연계한 중국 수학여행의 활동 방안이 학생들의 역사 교육 현장 학습에 대한 관심과 흥미를 높이고 역사 지식의 습득과 역사 인식의 함양에 효과적이었음을 밝히고 체계적인 현장 학습 활동 방안의 개발이 학습자들의 능동적인 역사 인식 정립에 기여함을 강조하였다. 또한 이를 위해서는 교육 현실에서 주어진 현장 학습의 기회를 제대로 활용하기 위해 교사들이 역량과 전문성을 갖추어야 함을 주장하였다.;The Educational Curriculum for secondary schools in Korea, newly annouced in the year 2006, lays emphasis on expanding experience-based learning and uniting Korean history with World history. This has been proposed as a means to reinforce a social and historical perception. However, current school education features too little opportunity for experience-based learning. Those collectively given experiences such as school excursions, due to lack of developed educational programs and realistic limitations, are unable to function well enough as field trip for educating history. Moreover, in spite of with the improved standard of living and a wider range of choices for venue for school excursions to include China and Japan and other overseas countries, due to lack of developed plans for educational activities, students are not properly receiving the education they need in Korean history linked with world history. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of field trip in history education in the form of school excursions to China which are being conducted at present. It thereby aims to suggest plans for educational activities which can make use of such excursions as a desirable field trip venue for educating history. This study is meaningful since it aims to develop plans for field trip activities so that field trips such as excursions to China do not end up with mere sightseeing but enable learners to not only acquire knowledge as linked with textbook learning, but also construct their own historical perspectives in perceiving Korean history in the context of world history. To such end, chapter 2 investigates into the theoretical background for field trips to help develop proper activities plans for field trips. Chapter 3, in order to understand the effect of school excursions as field trip in the history department, first studies the meaning and role of school excursions. The main focus of chapter 4 consists of construction of activity plans in applying school excursions to China to conducting field trip in history education. For such purpose, certain topics were chosen for school excursion to China, based on a trip made as preliminary exploration. Then specific activity plans for field studies in relation to school excursion topics were developed, which were then applied to the students. Then the result of such application was analyzed in order to understand whether or not students have successfully acquired and confirmed their factual knowledge in history and whether it has improved their historical perspective. Chapter 5 reveals that the activity plan for school excursions to China, made in connection with textbook education, has increased interest in and understanding of field trips in history education for the students and was effective in increasing their awareness in factual knowledge of history and in historical perspectives. This chapter thereby emphasizes the contribution that a systematic development of activity plans for field trips can establish an active historical perspective for students. Moreover, it stresses that teachers should acquire the competence and professional skills needed in order to make the most of such field studying opportunities.
