학문 목적 한국어 학습자를 위한 상경계열 학문용 기본어휘 선정

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 상경계열에 진학하고자 하는 학문 목적 한국어 학습자를 위하여 상경 계열 학술 텍스트를 바탕으로 ‘상경계열 학문용 기본어휘’를 선정하는 데 있다. ‘학문용 기본어휘’는 일상생활 언어와는 달리 강의 수강, 보고서 작성, 전공 서적 읽기, 토론 등과 같은 학문적 상황에서의 주로 접하게 되는 어휘로, 학문 목적 한국어 학습자의 인지 학술적 언어 능력을 신장시키는 데 기반이 되는 어휘들이라고 할 수 있다. 실제로 일반 목적의 한국어교육 과정을 마치고 대학에 진학한 다수의 학습자들이 학문적 어휘의 확장과 관련한 전문 지식의 학습에 높은 요구를 보였다. 본고는 어떤 학문 분야이든지 간에 사고도구어가 존재할 것이라는 일반론적인 입장과 상경계열 전공에 대한 외국인 유학생들의 선호도가 높다는 사실에 근거하여 ‘학문용 기본어휘’ 선정을 위한 분야로 상경계열을 선택하였다. 상경계열의 학술텍스트에 등장하는 어휘들을 ‘기본어휘’, ‘학문용 기본어휘’, ‘전문 어휘’로 분류하고, ‘학문용 기본어휘’의 선정을 위해 실제 대학의 교육과정에서 사용되고 있는 상경계열의 학술텍스트로 777,402어절 규모의 말뭉치를 구축하여 ‘기본어휘’와 ‘전문 어휘’를 제거하는 방식으로 총 1,755개(1230 단어족)의 ‘학문용 기본어휘’를 선정하였다. 이렇게 선정된 ‘학문용 기본어휘’를 다른 학문 영역에서 선정된 학문용 기본어휘와 비교하여 공통되는 요소를 제거하고 상경계열의 특징을 부각시키고자 ‘계열 공통 학문용 기본어휘’와 ‘상경계열 학문용 기본어휘’로 재분류하였다. 그 결과 771개의 단어족이 ‘상경계열 학문용 기본어휘’로 선정되었으며, 이들 단어들 중에서도 약 18%가 상경계열의 학문적 특성을 두드러지게 드러내는 것으로 파악되었다. 학문 목적 한국어 학습자의 목적에 따라 전문 분야별 학습 어휘 목록을 제공할 필요가 있다는 현실적인 필요성을 반영하여 진행된 본 연구의 결과물인 ‘상경계열 학문용 기본어휘’는 실제 대학 과정에서 사용되고 있는 전공 텍스트를 바탕으로 선정된 어휘 목록이기 때문에 대학 진학을 준비하는 학문 목적 한국어 학습자들을 위한 어휘 학습, 교재 구성, 어휘 평가 등의 교육과정을 구성할 때 실제성 있는 기초 자료로 사용될 수 있을 것이라 생각된다.;The purpose of this study was to select the basic academic vocabulary of business and economics for learners of Korean for academic purposes majoring in business and economics on the basis of the academic texts related to the field of business and economics. The basic academic vocabulary that we commonly encounter while performing academic activities such as attending lectures, writing up reports, reading books related to the major, discussion, and so on are the basic vocabulary that help improve the academic linguistic ability of those who learn Korean language for academic purposes, unlike the language that we use in our routine daily lives. In fact, many learners who are admitted to the university after completing the general Korean language course are found to have a great desire to acquire professional knowledge that have to do with the expansion of academic vocabulary. In this study, the field of business and economics was chosen for the selection of the basic academic vocabularies, based on the general assumption that any academic area has its own tool of thinking and the fact that international students studying in Korea have a high preference for the major related to business and economics. By classifying the vocabularies, which commonly appear in the academic texts used in the departments of business and economics at university, into three categories, that is basic vocabularies, academic vocabularies, and professional vocabularies, and then coming up with the cluster of words based on 777,402 phrases from academic texts currently used in the departments of business and economics, and finally removing the basic vocabularies and professional vocabularies to select the basic academic vocabularies, a total of 1,755 (or 2,230 word groups) basic academic vocabularies were selected. The basic academic vocabularies, selected in the aforesaid process, were compared with the basic academic vocabularies from other academic areas to remove the common factors. To highlight what distinctively characterizes the field of business and economics, the basic academic vocabularies were reclassified into the basic academic common vocabularies and the basic academic vocabularies for the field of business and economics. As a result, 771 word groups were selected as the basic academic vocabularies for the field of business and economics among which approximately 18% revealed the distinctive features of the field of business and economics very clearly. It is considered that the basic academic vocabularies for the field of business and economics, which is the outcome of this study that reflected the realistic necessity to provide the list of academic vocabularies for each professional area depending on the goal of those who learn Korean language for academic purposes, are the list of vocabularies selected on the basis of the major textbooks currently used in the university, providing practical basic data for structuring the curriculum that encompasses vocabulary learning, text book structure, evaluation of vocabulary, and others, for those who are preparing to be admitted to university and learn Korean language for academic purposes.
