Abstract
Human being are born and bred from nature. They return to its womb when they end their lives. Therefore, only in the natural environment, humans are able to find their indentity and their life. Furthermore, human interest in its origin is its sole inspiration and basis to the human will to create - art. The human urge to create something artistic is not simply an action which tries to copy nature but it is a way of expressing one's inner emotions. Nature Is only a way of showing this. Of all the many wonderous forms found in nature, perhaps the flower is considered as being the most beautiful and elaborate natural form. Simply looking at a flower makes someone happy because of its beauty, It has the ability to arouse a happy thought within us. Therefore, through its aesthetics and symbolism, the flower can express the emotions of an artist. As a means to keep nature close to our living environment, this study concentrates on the vase form. Today, the functional aspects of ceramics is developing along with the importance of decoration. The study has researched to create vase forms which incorporates the two aspects of ceramics. Research was done on the different flower forms. The structure and the image of flowers have been examined to be incorporated in the vase. The history and the varying vase forms have also been researched for the clay work. The curves and the organic shapes of the flower were carefully observed to be transformed onto the vases, emphasing the importance of the purpose of holding flowers in it. The porcelain clay body was used to create the delicate shapes using the slip-casting technique. Coloured slips were mixed into the porcelain clay body for some of the pieces. Only the inside walls were glazed in some pieces and the outer walls were left unglazed. The work was first fired to a temperature of 850 degrees celsius in a 0.7 m electric kiln, for 8 hours. The second firing continued for 10 hours reaching a temperature of 1260 degrees celsius. The work was oxidized in the second firing, The emotions of the person creating the work is very important. It changes the whole perception of the subject that they are portraying. Everyone has their own language of expression and it is exciting to experiment with this. Furthermore, function and aesthetics are very Important in ceramics. This study emphasizes this aspect through the vase form. Like all forms in nature, the flower provides us with endless creative possibilities.;인간의 역사는 자연과의 다양한 현상에 적응면서 면면히하 이어져왔으며 쉼없이 생성하고 소멸되는 자연현상의 삶 속에서 예술은 인간의 숙명을 통해 접근되는 삶의 진실이다.
