학(鶴)의 이미지를 응용한 도자조명등 디자인 연구

Abstract

조명이란 인간이 자연광원이나 인공광원인 빛을 목적에 의하여 적절하게 대상에 투사하여 효과를 얻는 행위이다. 그래서 조명은 빛에 따른 시각인지로 존재와 공간을 인식하는 물리적 현상과 더불어 빛이 만들어 내는 감정과 정서로 정신적 영역까지 그 영향은 확산된다. 그러므로 조명은 인간이 인간다운 삶을 영위하게 하는 환경 조성에 있어서 중요한 요소이다. 공간을 밝혀 주어 인간의 생활을 편하게 만들어 주던 조명등에서 빛의 밝기, 빛의 분위기에 의한 심리적이고 정서적인 환경을 만들어 주는 조명등의 기능적, 장식적 효과를 추구하게 되면서 조명등의 역할은 인간의 개성과 욕구에 따라 기능성과 함께 시각적인 디자인 문제가 중요하게 되었다. 그러므로 조명등은 단순히 조명이라는 기능적인 역할에 머무는 것이 아니라 실내 공간에서 새로운 분위기를 연출할 수 있는 조형물로 유도되어야 한다. 도예는 현 시대를 살아가고 있는 인간의 삶을 위하여 흙과 소성과정을 통해 고유한 도자기법과 재료를 활용하여 조형성과 기능성을 바탕으로 새로운 시대정신을 담아야 하는 작업이다. 현대에 와서 도예 작업은 조형성뿐만 아니라 기능성을 겸비한 조형 작업이 많아지고 있다. 이에 본 연구자는 형태상으로 조형적인 요소를 많이 가지고 있는 학의 아름다운 특징을 살려서 자연 친화적이며 인간에게 보다 편안하고 안락한 공간을 제공해 줄 수 있는 기능적인 조명등 제작에 관심을 가지게 되었다. 학의 깨끗한 이미지는 인간에게 편안함과 부드러운 분위기를 느낄 수 있게 하고, 크기, 행동, 사회성, 독특한 울음소리, 고고한 모습은 우리의 전통 문화유산에서 문학, 미술, 민속, 신화와 전설 등에 여러 가지 형태로 표현되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 행복·행운·장수·부부애를 상징하는 학의 이미지를 투광을 가능하게 하는 태토를 사용, 광원에 직접 작용하여 도자 조명등이 만들어 낼 수 있는 독특한 조명효과의 기능과 실용성 및 학 형태의 부드럽고 자유로운 선을 현대적인 감각으로 변형시켜 생활 공간과 조화되어 보다 나은 공간 창출에 기여할 수 있는 도자기 조명등 개발, 제시하는데 연구의 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 실내공간에 안락한 분위기를 조성시키고 복잡한 현대 생활 속에 안정된 휴식 공간을 제공해 주며, 시각적인 아름다움을 강조하여 디자인하기 위해 조명에 관한 자료와 문헌 조사, 학의 특징 및 종류와 학의 조형성을 통한 작품사례에 대해 살펴보았다. 디자인 전개 과정에 있어서는 학의 이미지를 통해 나타낼 수 있는 율동성을 형태의 사실적인 표현과 조형적인 선으로 표현하였다. 이를 위하여 학의 여러 가지 움직임을 통하여 운동의 방향을 알아보며 디자인하였다. 날개, 부리, 몸통, 꼬리부분의 움직임을 단순화 시켜 학의 유연하고 깨끗한 이미지를 비상, 비행, 착지, 휴식, 율동의 부드러운 선으로 표현하였다. 제작방법은 디자인의 깔끔한 처리와 투광성을 나타내기 위해 반복 제작이 가능한 석고 틀을 이용한 이장주입 성형방법을 사용하였다. 유약은 무유로 해서 투광성을 높였다. 또한 강도를 강하게 하기 위해서 활석 2%를 태토와 함께 사용하였는데, 곡선이 많이 들어가는 형태는 태토를 그대로 사용하였다. 소성은 0.5㎥ 가스가마에서 최고온도 900℃까지 8시간동안 1차 소성 하였고 2차 소성은 가스가마와 전기가마에 나누어 최고온도 1260℃까지 10시간 산화염 소성 하였다. 조명등의 전기설치는 디자인에 따라 삼파장 램프와 장식용 백열 전구를 사용하였고, 스위치는 중간 스위치를 사용하였다. 받침은 주로 흙의 따뜻한 느낌과 잘 어울리는 나무를 사용하였고, 벽걸이용은 철 박스를 사용하였다. 본 연구에서는 학의 다양한 자태의 아름다운 곡선을 이용하여 현재 우리 생활에서 필수적인 조명등에 관한 연구를 조명등의 기능적인면 뿐만 아니라 공간에 놓여졌을 때 좀 더 아름답고 쾌적한 분위기를 나타낼 수 있는 조형물로 디자인하였다. 또한 요즘 유리, 종이, 아크릴, 목재 등 여러 가지 다른 재료로도 조명등을 조형물로서 많이 제작하고 있는데 본 연구자는 흙은 조명등의 따뜻한 느낌과 가장 잘 어울리는 재료라고 생각하게 되었고 흙에서 투광되어지는 은은하고 부드러운 불빛은 학의 깨끗한 이미지와 함께 사람들에게 편안한 느낌의 조명등으로 개발 될 수 있다는 것을 알게 되었고 앞으로 더 많은 후진들의 관심과 다양한 도자 조명등이 활발하게 제작되기를 기대한다.;Lighting Is an effect caused by a natural or artificial light source projected onto an object. Since lighting is perceived by the sense of sight, it not only create a physical phenomenon having the object and space perceived by men but also has an effect on our emotion and sentiment. After all, lighting plays an important role in creating our living environment and thereby, enhancing our life quality. In other words, lighting not only makes our living more convenient but also helps to create a psychological and emotional environment with its functional and decorational effects. Since lighting should meet our various personal needs, it should be designed to be aesthetic in visual terms. In short, lighting should not remain simply functional but serve to create a new atmosphere indoors. On the other hand, the ceramic art aims to contain a new Zeitgeist for our modern men's life by using unique techniques and materials and based on formativeness and functionality. Thus, our modern ceramic works need to be artistic and functional as well. After all, the researcher wanted to produce a pro-natural and functional lighting providing for a comfortable and cozy environment by applying the image of the crane which has many formative images. We feel comfortable and soft for the clean image of the crane. Due to its sweeping size, lofty behaviors, sociability, unique cry and elegant style, the crane was expressed in various forms in our traditional cultural assets including literature, art, folklore, myth and legend. In this study, the image of crane symbolizing happiness, fortune, longevity and conjugal love was used to vary the gentle and free line of its look into a modern sense and thereby, develop and present a ceramic lighting fixture conducive to creation of a better space in harmony with our modern living space; to this end, a ground earth allowing for floodlighting was used to make it act directly on a light source in order to create a unique lighting effect which is functional as well as practical. In order to design an aesthetic and functional ceramic lighting which can serve to create a comfortable atmosphere indoors and provide for a cozy resting place for our busy modern life, relevant literature was reviewed, and thereupon, actual works using various images of the crane were examined. In developing the design, the rhythmical nature of crane image was expressed as realistic expressions and formative lines. To this end, various movements of crane were analyzed to be reflected in the design. Primarily, the movements of its wings, bill, body and tail were simplified to express its smooth and clean image as gentle lines. In order to produce a refined and floodlighting ceramic lighting, the transferent feeding and forming method was applied. The glazing was designed to allow for penetration of lights. On the other hand, the ground earth mixed with 2% talcum was used in order to increase the intensity. The ground earth was used for the curved forms, while the ground earth mixed with 2% talcum was applied for the other parts. The work formed was fired primarily in a 0.5㎥ gas kiln at max. 900 degree C for 8 hours, and then, fired secondarily in the gas kiln and electric one at 1,260 degree C for 10 hours to be oxidized. Depending on the designs, three-wavelength lamp and incandescent lamp were used, while a medium switch was used. The base was made primarily of wood, and the iron box was used for the wall fixture. All in all, diverse and beautiful curves of crane were used to design a necessity of our life, namely a lighting fixture which is not only functional but also helps to create a cozy and comfortable atmosphere in our living space. Today, various materials such as glass, paper, acryl and wood are used to produce the lighting fixtures. However, the researcher was confident that earth is most suitable as lighting fixture material because it is in a good harmony with the warm feeling of lighting fixture. It was confirmed through this study that the sonorous and gentle lighting penetrating the earth would be well combined with the clean image of crane to render a most comfortable atmosphere for people.
