음악과 건축의 상관성 고찰을 통한 환경디자인의 표현방법에 관한 연구

Abstract

A designer's task to structure space and express form in environmental design has become the area of consideration and exploration, and various approach for new possibilites has been suggested. However, as the change of paradigm by the development of science occurs in modem times, it reveals the problems in the expression method of architectural thoughts. Expression method based on functional thinking type which has its foundation in physical concepts like practicality, adaptability and economical efficiency and aesthetic characteristics pursues variety and cultural continuity by showing trends to translate architecture in the view of analytical, reasonable, and logical positivism, and doesn't satisfy the demand of this time which emphasizes human sensibility and experience phenomena. It is possible that structure-oriented, materal-oriented thought is excluded from the process of design, and there is a trend to think more highly of the inner attributes of architecture related to a physical object itself than human experience structure. Abstract thoughts based on technical and resonable characteristics have danger to miss the importance of human biological, psychological nature. The existing design expression method in this situation needs to turn to put its value on diversity and differentiation corresponding to the age of pluralism. Accordingly, by aiming at environments as the complex of science, ideas, and art in terms of art pluralism through the transition into systematic phenomena, the area of environment as the ground of human experience and general art and life can be expanded. As Karl Kraus said that art gives life to chaos, art makes human environment meaningful, gives life to environmental experience, and has power to make human life lively and vivid. Accordingly, I'd like to strengthen designers' creativity by attempting to interact with other art fields in terms of environment as a composite art, and suggest more affluent design expression methods. The effect of connecting the philosophical, aesthetic ideas of design with other art fields has been proved historically. Especially, the relationship between music and architecture can be connected as one in that they have common backgrounds, similarity and even characteristics. Building a modeling structure involves the processing time in which substance is revealed, and composing music also includes general space structure as well as ringing in a time differential even though it is not visible. Also, music and architecture has something in common in that they have similarities in formal elements such as atmosphere, rhythm, proportion, tone, harmony, and they are both artistic beings providing aesthetic experiences in the process of creation. From these premises, I suggested the adaptability of a musical system in design by examining interrelationship between the two fields, and identifying and comparing things in common. Followingly, this study puts its importance on design expression through music, and is progressed as follows. First, seeing that a common concept which can connect music and architecture with each other is the harmony of time, space and number, and I examined this. Second, the process of delivering the meaning of music and architecture and its method are adapted to confirm the possibility of expression as art language. Third, interrelationship between music and architecture as a structuring elements is analyzed through the geometrical structure of architecture, the form of proportion and music, scale, harmony and rhythm, and examples of transferring musical notes and the special part of a building are suggested in a formal dimension. Fourth, formal language based on the suggested principles through the process is specified into space form elements. Fifth, space is designed by a dapting theoretical relation and elements. Sixth, designed space is generalized, analyzed and evaluated. In the resulf of this study, by adapting a musical system to space design, makes the experience possible by more creative and diverse emotion through interaction with other art fields of the designers who plan for environment and create the future, helps them recognize human environment as an art complex having rich meanings in an aesthetic dimension, and also there is a meaning in that a new model in design expression is suggested for further study.;환경 디자인에 있어서 공간 구성과 형태 표현의 문제는 디자이너의 과제로 관심과 탐구의 영역이 되어 왔으며 작품을 통하여 새로운 가능성을 위한 다양한 접근이 제시되어 왔다. 그러나 현대에 들어와 과학발달에 의한 패러다임의 변화에 따라 건축적 사고에 의한 표현방법에 있어서 문제점이 드러나고 있다. 실용성과 적합성, 경제성등의 물리적인 개념과 미적 특질에 근거를 둔 기능적인 사고유형에 기초한 표현방법은 건축을 단지 분석적, 합리적, 논리적인 실증주의적 관점에서 해석하고 창조하려는 경향을 보임으로서 다양성과 문화적 연속성을 추구하고 인간의 감성과 경험현상을 중시하는 현대의 시대적 요구를 충족시키지 못하고 있으며 구조와 재료 지향적인 사고 또한 디자인 과정에서 건축이 놓이게 되는 맥락이나 형태의 미적 차원과 관련된 의미 등이 배제되기 쉽고, 공간을 체험하는 인간의 체험구조보다는 물리적 대상 자체와 관련된 건축의 내재적 속성을 더 중시하는 경향을 보이고 있다. 이와같이 기술적이고 합리성에 근거한 추상적 사고는 인간의 생물학적, 심리적인 본성의 중요성을 간과하는 위험성을 내포한다. 이러한 상황에서 기존의 디자인표현방법은 다원화시대에 부합하는 다양성과 차별성에 가치를 두는 방향으로의 전환이 요구된다. 따라서 환경디자인의 관점을 획일적인 것이 아닌 시스템적 현상으로 전환시켜 예술 다원화의 관점에서 과학과 사상과 예술의 복합체로서의 환경을 지향함으로서 환경을 총체적 삶과 예술의 장이자 모든 인간경험이 일어나는 기반으로 그 영역을 확대시킬 수 있다고 본다. Karl Kraus가 예술은 무질서에 생명을 부여한다고 말했듯이, 예술은 인간의 무의미한 환경에 의미를 부여해 주며 질서를 잡아나가고 무시되어진 환경의 경험에 생명을 불어넣어 인간의 삶 자체를 생생하게 만드는 힘을 가진다. 이에 따라 연구자는 통합예술로서의 환경의 관점에서 다른 예술분야와의 상호작용을 시도함으로서 디자이너의 창조성을 강화시키고 더욱 풍부한 디자인 표현방법을 제시하고자 한다. 다른 예술분야와 디자인의 철학적, 미학적 사고의 연계를 통한 효과는 역사를 통해서 입증되어 왔다. 특히 음악과 건축과의 관계는 공통되는 배경과 유사성, 더 나아가 특성까지도 서로 유사하다는 점에서 하나로 연결될 수 있다. 환경의 체험은 인간의 모든 감각이 동원되어 경험되는 종합예술로서의 특성을 보여준다. 조형적 구조물이 만들어진다고 하는 것 안에는 이미 동시적이고 공시적인 그리고 실체가 드러나는 과정상의 단계적 시간들이 내포되어 있으며, 눈에 보이는 형태로 존재하는 것은 아니지만 음악을 만들어가는 것은 곧 시차를 두고 울려나온다는 것 외에 전체적인 공간적 구조를 이미 내포하고 있다. 또한 음악과 건축은 분위기와 장단, 비례, 리듬, 음정, 화성등의 형식미적 기본 요소에 있어서 보편적 유사성을 가지며, 창작과정에서 공통적으로 미적 경험을 제공하는 예술적 존재이므로 이러한 전제로부터 이 두 분야의 상호관련성과 공통점을 고찰하여 그 관계를 규명하고 비교함으로서 디자인에 있어서의 음악적 시스템의 적용 가능성을 제시할 수 있다. 이에따라 본 연구는 음악을 통한 디자인 표현방법에 중점을 두고 공간을 디자인함에 있어서 다음과 같은 방법에 따라 진행한다. 첫째, 음악과 건축, 이 두가지 예술을 밀접하게 접맥시킬 수 있는 공통개념을 시간, 공간 개념, 수의 조화 개념으로 보고 이를 고찰한다. 둘째, 커뮤니케이션의 수단으로서의 음악과 건축의 의미전달 과정과 그 방법을 찾아 예술언어로서의 표현 가능성을 확인한다. 셋째, 구성원리로서의 음악과 건축의 상관성을 건축의 기하학적 구조, 비례와 음악의 형식, 음계와 화성, 리듬을 통해 분석하고 보다 구체적이고 실험적인 방법으로서 음악의 악보와 건물의 특정 부분이 형식적 차원에서 전이되는 예를 제시한다. 넷째, 이러한 과정을 통하여 제시된 원리를 토대로 형태언어를 도출하고 시각화 하는 과정을 통해 공간 형태 요소로 구체화 시킨다. 다섯째, 이상에서 살펴본 이론적 상관성과 원리를 적용하여 공간을 계획한다. 여섯째, 디자인 되어진 공간을 종합하여 분석 평가한다. 이와같은 연구결과 공간을 디자인함에 있어서 음악적 시스템의 적용은 환경을 계획하고 미래를 창조하는 디자이너로서 다른 예술 분야와의 상호작용을 통하여 보다 창조적이고 다양한 감성에 의한 경험을 가능하게 하며, 인간 환경을 미적 차원에서 풍부한 의미를 갖는 예술의 복합체로 인식하도록 할 뿐만 아니라 더 나아가 디자인 표현방법에 있어서 새로운 모델을 제시하였음에 그 의의를 둔다.
