지사벽지(Paperweave wallcovering)디자인 개발에 관한 연구

Abstract

According to the high growth of economy, demand for pleasant space has become prevalent, and, as people's mode of life being diversified, their concern for the quality of living environment has been heightened. Naturally, people not satisfied with mere necessary key functions of interior increasingly pursue more refreshing, unique living space. This phenomenon is such a general social tendency that rapid development of interior design as well as higher recognition of it is clear. In particular, wellcovering plays a leading role in determining the atmosphere of interior. As a finishing material in architecture and unlike those decorating ones, wallcovering has a variety of textural quality and in remodelling relatively is easy to change, so it is economical to use and convenient to work with that it easily makes creation of lively space possible with varied colors and at the same time has visual, psychological, and emotional functions besides physical functions like interception of light. And as its function is being improved in various ways through special surface treatments like prevention of pollution, dye-proof, and sound-proof and development of processing, it takes the biggest part in the interior design since it can satisfy modem man's desire for unique personality or atmosphere by providing the infinite possibility of creation. Recently as living culture is being diversified and rapidly changes by each individual's personality, wallcovering also rapidly changes in every aspects, e.g., material, color or design. Thanks to the current advanced technology, materials adopting particular modes, styles of particular times, stuff or quality of texture continuously appear, and once a new material appeared another new one demanded. Therefore, the author of this study, considering that, though natural materials can be used to produce certain aesthetic quality enough to satisfy social demand and pursuit for natural beauty or preference to products harmonizing with environment together with up-to-date designs, still compact studies about the paper-weave wallcovering are demanded due to the lack of variety of such elements of its design as texture, pattern, or colour, actually made works of wallcovering based on the theoretical background. In making works, over printing technique were used to make some existing wall coverings with slight change of color and texture varied after fabric was woven to get solid feelings and profound, high-grade images. As for the printed patterns traditional Korean patterns with natural beauty and ethnic aesthetics were chosen to trace back Korean history, to show the excellency of her art, and finally to develop proper paperweave wallcovering designs coinciding with the actual conditions of this country. In this way, by applying our traditional patterns and diversifying, formalizing and making paperweave wallcovering design more practical in the modern sense, the author of this study wants to contribute for creating more pleasant, unique spaces which can satisfy consumer's personality and taste. And furthermore, with our ethnic materials and patterns and by creating designs with enriched Korean images and high additional value, she hopes to be a help to heighten Korea's competency in the international market place of paperweave wellcovering.;경제의 고도성장에 따라 쾌적한 공간에 대한 요구가 높아지고, 사람들의 생활양식이 다양해지면서 주거 환경의 질(質)에 대한 관심이 점차 높아졌다. 이에 따라, 단순히 생활에 필요한 주요 기능에만 만족하지 않고, 보다 새롭고 개성 있는 실내 공간을 추구하는 사람들이 늘고 있다. 이러한 현상은 사회적으로 일반화되어 가는 추세로 실내디자인에 대한 높은 인식과 함께 급진적인 발전이 뚜렷해지고 있다. 특히, 벽지는 실내디자인에서 분위기를 결정하는 주조적(主調的)인 역할을 한다. 벽지는 건축 마감재로서 건축 내장재와는 달리 질감이 다양하고, 개보수시 비교적 쉽게 교체할 수 있어 경제적이고, 시공이 편리한 장점을 갖고 있어, 다양한 색상의 특성과 함께 모든 공간을 손쉽게 생명력 있는 공간으로 연출 가능하게 하며, 빛 차단과 같은 물리적 기능 외에 시각적, 심리적, 정서적 기능도 함께 한다. 그리고, 오염 방지(汚染 防止), 방염(防炎), 방음(防音) 등과 같은 특수한 표면 처리와 가공 방법의 발전으로 다양한 기능성이 개발되는 추세에 있어, 무한한 창조적인 가능성을 제시함으로써 현대인이 추구하고 있는 독특한 개성과 분위기 등의 욕구를 충족시킬 수 있어 실내디자인에 있어서 가장 큰 부분을 담당하고 있다. 최근 주거 생활 문화가 개성에 따라 다양화되고 급속히 변해 감에 따라 벽지도 재료, 색상, 디자인 등의 모든 면에서 빠른 속도로 변해 가고 있다. 현대의 발전된 기술에 힘입어 특정한 양식이나 시대, 특정한 재료와 재질감을 표방하는 소재가 잇달아 나오고 있고, 새로운 벽지 소재의 출현은 새로운 벽지 디자인을 요구하기 시작하였다. 이에 본 연구는 점차 자연미를 추구하는 사회적 분위기 속에서 첨단 디자인과 함께 환경친화적 제품이 선호되어지는 추세에 따라 천연 소재의 장점과 충분한 미적 요소로 인하여 다양한 패턴개발과 디자인 감각을 발휘할 수 있는데도 불구하고 그 디자인의 조직(組織)과 문양(紋樣), 색상(色相)이 다양하지 못하여 개발이 지연되고 있는 지사벽지(紙絲壁紙)에 대한 집약적인 연구가 요구되어진다고 생각되어 지사 벽지에 대한 이론적 연구를 바탕으로 작품제작을 하였다. 작품제작에 있어서 기존의 색상과 조직의 변화만으로 디자인되어 온 지사벽지에서 다양화를 시도해 보고자 제직(製織)한 뒤 오버 프린팅(Over printing) 기법을 부여하여 입체적인 느낌과 함께 깊이 있고 고급스런 느낌을 표현해 보고자 하였다. 이때 프린팅되는 문양은 자연미와 우리 고유의 미(美)를 바탕으로 하는 한국 전통문양 중 도깨비 문양을 중심으로 연구하여 우리 민족의 발자취와 민족 미술의 우수성을 표현하고, 우리 나라 실정과 특색에 맞는 지사벽지 디자인 개발을 목적으로 한다. 그리하여, 우리의 전통문양을 응용하고 패턴(Pattern)기법에 있어서 지사벽지를 다양화시켜 현대 감각으로 조형화 및 실용화시킨 후 수요자의 개성과 기호에 맞는 더욱 쾌적하고 개성있는 공간을 창출하는데 기여하고자 한다. 그리고, 더 나아가서는 자연적인 우리 고유의 소재와 문양으로 한국적 이미지를 잘 살린 고부가가치의 디자인을 창출하여 지사벽지의 국제 경쟁력 제고(制誥)에 도움이 되고자 한다.
