영종도 신공항 풍경의 상징적 표현 연구

Abstract

At the end of this 20th century, we contemporaries are in so excessively changeable times. It seems so difficult to predict the atmosphere of future and the meaning of change is so obscure. But we have to get the sense of direction again and to choose all the better activities for our future. in this side, I should luke to keep my theme to Youngjong-do, which mostly needs the plans for the future. Now, in Youngjong-do, a new airport is under construction. There is a land reclamation project being played for getting an airport building site. That shows a peculiar sight, difficult to see in the former Youngjong-do or elsewhere. The vanishing nature - by the demand of today's complex industrial society - is making a thing mixed with beauty, desolateness and dreariness. I should like to make Youngjong-do being broken, to the rebirth for the new generation and culture, return to a root of nature - in the age of creation of this earth and describe its beautiful sight. And Youngjong-do, mixed with its beauty - desolateness and dreariness, will be born as an artificial Eden, qualified for the refined technique and a comfortable state, with the change of the culture condition in the surroundings. And to show this image of new airport, I used digital technology. Computer technique was used in this work, to make the images so various to see and to consider. It is based on the parody doctrine, which means having a critical distance from the original. And the work was done by the new relation of times and spaces. I should like to show the reappearance of our contemporaries who are in the sensual enjoyment and to make a characteristic criticism, through the corning Youngjong-do, based on its today's sight.;20세기 마지막 종착점에 다다른 현재의 인류는 엄청난 변화의 소용돌이 속에 빠져 있다. 변화의 방향은 예측하기 어려우며, 그 변화의 의미는 불투명하다. 하지만 우리는 방향 감각을 되찾아 미지의 앞날을 위한 올바른 행동을 선택하여야만 한다. 이러한 의미에서 본 연구는 현시점에서 우리의 올바른 행동의 요구가 가장 절실한 영종도를 주목하고자 한다. 신공항 공사가 한창인 영종도는 공항 부지의 확보를 위하여 바닷속 땅들이 모습을 드러내며 예전의 영종도에서, 그리고 다른 어느 곳에서도 볼 수 없는 독특한 풍경을 이루고 있다. 현대산업사회의 요청으로 사라져 가는 자연이 황폐하고 황량한 분위기를 가진 아름다움을 만들고 있는 것이다. 연구자는 개발 목표에 맞추어 새로운 문명과 문화로 다시 태어나기 위해 해체되어 가고 있는 영종도를 지구 탄생시의 자연 존재의 뿌리로 회귀시켜 그 아름다움을 기록하고자 하였다. 황폐하고 황량함의 아름다움을 지닌 영종도는 주위를 둘러싼 문화적 조건들의 변화로 세련된 기교와 안락의 상태로 길들여진 인공적인 에덴으로 새로이 탄생될 것이며, 이러한 미래의 신공항의 이미지를 표현하고자 디지털 테크놀로지를 이용하였다. 표현 방법상 편리함을 제공한 컴퓨터는 모방의 대상이 되는 작품으로부터 비평적 거리를 둔다는 패러디 이론을 바탕으로 여러 인쇄물을 통하여 가져온 도시 이미지들을 새로운 시간과 공간의 관계로 조립하여 시각적으로나 사상적으로 다양한 영상을 만들기 위하여 사용되었다. 연구자는 현실을 바탕으로 한 미래의 영종도의 모습을 통하여 감각적이고 향락적인 향유만을 강조하는 지금의 우리의 모습을 재창조하고 동시에 창조적인 비평을 하고자 한다.
