실시간 멀티미디어를 이용한 원격 교육 시스템의 구현

Abstract

학교교육의 질 향상을 위해 컴퓨터는 새로운 교육매체로 많은 기대를 받아오고 있다. 컴퓨터는 정보의 검색과 수집, 그리고 그 운영 면에 있어 정보화사회의 빠른 템포를 수용하여 동시적인 사고, 학교의 벽을 넘어서 사회 각 영역과 연결된 교육을 실현할 수 있는 잠재력을 가지고 있다. 이러한 컴퓨터는 인터넷과 연동되면서 시간성, 공간성, 단방향성 등을 극복하고 학습자를 학습에 적극적으로 참여하도록 하고 다양한 형태로 상호 작용할 수 있게 함으로써 더욱더 교육적인 가치를 가지게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 실시간 멀티미디어를 이용한 원격 교육 시스템을 구축하기 위하여 여러 종류의 미디어 소스 즉, 디지털 카메라, 마이크 등을 이용하여 강의용 자료를 준비하고 다양한 멀티미디어 데이터 즉, 오디오, 비디오, 텍스트, 그래픽 등을 제작, 편집하였다. 그리고 학생들에게 언어적, 시각적, 청각적 요소를 충분히 보여 주는 효과적인 인터넷 강의를 하기 위해 여러 가지 멀티미디어 제작 툴을 이용, 멀티미디어 스트리밍 파일인 ASF파일을 만들고 이를 웹 상에서 실시간으로 전송해 주면 학생들은 미디어 플레이어에 의해 원격강의를 받을 수 있도록 하였다. 본 시스템은 인터넷 또는 모뎀을 통하여 웹 브라우저 상에서 강의 내용을 언제든지 오디오, 비디오, 텍스트, 그래픽 등이 결합된 통합 멀티미디어 형태로 실시간으로 제공받을 수 있고 과거의 학습 자료 또한 실시간으로 제공받을 수 있도록 하였다.;With the new technology in computer and Internet introduced as an educational medium, the problems caused by limited time and space have been overcome. Thus, this new technology has enabled students to actively participate in their learning experiences. And it proved itself to be a valuable educational tool. Regarding the current use of Internet in lectures, it is still at the primitive stages. The usage is still limited to exchanging E-mails or uploading lecture plans using hypertext. In this paper, however, focuses on establishing an effective Internet lecture system that involves linguistic and audio-visual elements. In order to achieve this goal, contents for lectures were made using various multimedia tools, and distance learning system has been experimentally constructed using the Netshow streaming technology. Also, for the systematic, effective distance lectures, supportive services including teaching progress and student management systems have been established. This has achieved the convenient interface environment for both students and teachers. Since this system has some basic elements which can be easily applied to other courses or subjects, this system can be applied to a distance education in other areas.
