Slit 기법을 이용한 부조적 효과에 관한 연구

Abstract

인간의 미에 대한 창조적 욕망은 끊임없는 미적 활동을 통해 그들의 감정과 사상을 표현하게 한다. 현대 섬유예술은 이러한 미적 활동의 한 분야로서 작가들의 실험정신이 고도로 발현되는 창조 작업이다. 특히 현대 섬유예술은 그동안 다양한 표현형식의 개발과 재료의 선택을 통해 새로운 조형의식을 확대해 왔으며 이러한 발전은 섬유예술을 회화나 조각등과 같은 순수조형예술의 한 쟝르로 확립하게 하였다. 따라서 오늘날의 섬유예술은 과거의 2차원적인 표현형식에서 벗어나 3차원 혹은 환경적인 표현형식을 활용하는 새로운 차원의 조형형식으로 변화하고 있다. 바우하우스( Bauhaus )이후 섬유예술에서는 미적 가치를 중요시 해왔으며, 조형요소로서의 질감에 의한 시각적 변화에 두드러진 관심을 보여 왔다. 그 결과 현대 섬유 예술가들은 고대(古代) 타피스트리 (Tapestry)에서 사용된 기법들을 응용, 개발하여 질감의 부조적 효과를 드높일 수 있는 새로운 기법을 이끌어 냈다. 그러한 기법들은 오브제(object)의 도입으로 인해 광범위해진 소재의 사용과 작가의 기술적 연구를 통해 반입체적인 3차원적 표현형식으로서의 독창적인 부조작품을 창작하는데 기여하고 있다. 여러 기법들에 의해 표현되는 부조형태 중에서 슬릿(Slit)기법으로부터 만들어지는 슬릿의 활용방법에 의해 표현되는 부조형태는 작품의 효과를 한층 더 높여 줄뿐 아니라 공간과 조화를 이루면서 조형성을 띠고 있다. 그러므로 섬유 예술가들의 기술적인 연구와 창조적인 실험정신을 바탕으로 하여 다양한 재료를 가지고 슬릿을 다각도로 이용한다면 조형성을 띤 독창적인 부조형태의 무한한 창작이 가능하리라고 본다.;Creative desire of a humanbeing for beauty is expressed through endless aesthetic activities that reflect his thoughts and emotions. Modern fiber art is a field of such aesthetic activities. It is a creative work that lets the artists exhibit their experimental spirit of the high level. Modern fibert art has enlarged the consciousness of the plastic arts by developing various expression modes nod selection of materials. Through such developments fiber art has energed as a genre of the pure plastic arts like painting add sculpture. Therefore, today's fiber arts are changing from rho two dimensional expression mode of the past to che new dimensional plastic mode which shows the expression style of three dimensions and of environmental use. Since Bauhaus fiber art has put emphasis on aesthetic value, and expecially visual change of texture which is an element of plastic has attracted a particular attention. As a result, modern fiber artists generate new techniques by applicating and developing the skills used for utility in ancient tapestry, so that they enable the artist to increase the relievable effect of the texture. Newly generated skills brought about the use of materials which stress the character of the object, and contributed in producing the creative relief works through technical research of artists. Among the various skills, relief style expressed through the use of slit technique can elevate the effect of work and also exhibit plasticity harmonizing with space. Modern fiber art is unlike other visual arts in that various techniques and materials are used in harmony. If this special nature of slit, on the basis of the fiber artists' technical research and their experimental spirit; can be fully utilized, it can exhibit infinite possibilities in creation of relief style.
