어퍼스터리직물에 관한 연구

Abstract

Along with the development of the modern civilization, the textile which has long been one of the essential means of our life is evolving into diverse form as a material. One example is that the textile is being used diversely as a material for the interior which co-exists with human beings. In the past, the interior was not recognized as a necessary concept, but today, the living space is perceived as essential for our relaxation and conveniences. Such a changed perception implies that the upholstery fabric has become essential as much as the interior itself. In other words, our modern men's desires cannot be satisfied by the functional fabric alone. After all, we will only be satisfied with or feel comfortable for the space which fulfills our visible desire and simultaneously renders an individualistic sense. One of the necessary items for a comfortable interior is the chair. And the upholstery fabric which finishes the chair plays a most important role in creating a comfortable and warm space. The upholstery fabric which may well be one of the home furnishings can be categorized into table cloth, seating and cushion. In this study, the upholstery fabric used for seating was reviewed primarily. The properties of the upholstery fabric are connected with the interior in visual terms. Although the visual beauty of the chair itself is important, the harmony between chair and other interior elements is more important. Several points should be taken into consideration unvisual terms. The most important points are the consideration into health and the elasticity enduring the heavy load. Such points imply the importance of selection of the materials. As far as these points are satisfied, any material can be a candidate for upholstery fabric. Meanwhile, most of the new materials developed recently aim at human convenience. And various processing methods are invented in order to help create more comfortable, cozy and pro-natural environment. In the study, under the several conditions for upholstery fabric presented, an upholstery fabric was produced using the gradation and contrast of color properties. When two complemental colors were contrasted, they became more conspicuous. On the other hand, an impression of spacial sense and visual effect could be created by using the spacial property of color : proceeding and retreating effects. The design work of this study could he more systematic when such properties of colors were used. At present, the upholstery fabrics are being developed for popular uses, and the individualistic ones demanded by interior designers are mostly imported. Therefore, the upholstery fabrics favored by our interior designers should be developed, while more natural, sanitary and practical materials for upholstery fabrics should be processed out. In the actual production of a work, a handicraft technique was employed because any appropriate upholstery fabric satisfying the pre-conditions formulated could not be found among the fabrics in market.;현대문명의 발달과 더불어 우리 생활에 꼭 필요한 섬유의 존재는 하나의 재료라는 측면에서 다양한 형태로 발전하고 있다. 그 중에 하나로 섬유는 인간의 생활과 함께 공존하는 인테리어 직물로서 여러 가지용도로 사용되어지고 있다. 예전의 인테리어에 대한 인식은 인간에게 필수품으로 여겨 지지 않았으나 오늘날 주거 생활공간은 인간의 휴식과 편리함을 제공하는 꼭 필요한 존재로 인식되고 있다. 이는 인테리어 내장직물이 필수품이 되었음을 의미하며 현대 생활에서 기능적인 직물만이 현대인에게 욕구를 충족시켜 줄 수 없다는 것이다. 시각적으로 만족 할 수 있으며 자신의 개성에 맞게 연출할 수 있는 공간이야 말로 정신적인 안정과 만족감을 가져다 준다. 인간이 휴식할 수 있는 공간에 꼭 필요한 것 중 하나는 의자이다. 의자의 마감제로서 직물은 보다 편안하고 따뜻한 공간을 만드는데 가장 큰 역할을 하는 존재이다. 의자의 마감재가 속해 있는 어퍼스터리 직물은 홈퍼니싱류의 하나로서 3가지로 분류되는데 테이블 클로쓰와 씨팅, 쿠션이다. 본연구에서는 주로 씨팅에 관한 의자용 직물을 연구하였다. 의자용 직물의 특성은 시각적인 측면에서 인테리어와 연관되어지는데 의자 자체의 시각적 미도 중요하지만 다른 인테리어 용구와의 조화가 가장 중요하다. 촉각적인 측면에서 몇가지 유의점이 따르는데 가장 중요한 것은 인간이 사용한다는 것을 고려했을 때 건강상의 유의점과 무거운 하중에 견디는 탄력성의 문제이다. 이러한 특성은 소재선택의 중요성을 강조한다. 의자용 어퍼스터리 직물의 소재에는 위의 특성상의 조건이 허락하는 한 모든 소재가 쓰일 수 있지만 최근에 개발된 신소재들은 특히 인간에게 이로운 면을 추구한 것들이 대부분이다. 가공 방법 역시 마찬가지로 새로운 가공법이 등장 하였는데, 쾌적한 환경을 만들고 편리함을 추구하며 자연과 가깝게 느낄수 있는 가공법들이 개발되고 있다. 의자용 어퍼스터리 직물에 적합한 몇가지 제한된 조건들을 제시하고 색의 특성을 이용한 그라데이션 및 대비 방법을 작품 제작 배경에 두었다. 두가지 보색을 동시에 대비 시켰을 때 그 보색들은 더욱 선명한 색으로 보여지며, 색의 공간적 특성인 전진색과 후퇴색의 이용은 작품에 공간감과 시각적 인상을 표현 할 수 있다. 의자직물 제작에서 이러한 색의 특성을 기초로 할 때 디자인 작업을 보다 체계적으로 할 수 있었다. 현재 의자 직물의 개발은 주로 대중적으로 이루어지고 있으며, 인테리어 디자인에서 인테리어 디자이너가 요구하는 개성적 직물은 대부분이 수입품에 의존한다. 인테리어 디자이너가 요구하는 개성적인 의자직물의 개발과 현대인이 요구하는 자연적이며 위생적이고 실용적인 의자직물의 소재 및 가공법의 발달이 더욱 촉구되어야 할 것이다. 작품제작 배경에서 의자용 어퍼스터리 직물에 알맞는 조건들을 갖춘 디자인상 공산품으로 제작할 수 없는 공예적인 기술의 제직 방법을 모색하여 작품을 제작하였다.
