호염에 의한 토기의 질감 표현 연구

Abstract

Opening the area of continuously innovative expression in accordance with the change of the time, art is attempting a new way of approaching to fiber art. An old thing is replaced, and its limit is overcome, values continue to be changed and new mental phenomena continue to occur, However, a truth is not replaced by another truth, but a truth continues to develope from another truth. As a vessel, made from earth, with traditional beauty while being fused with modem popular culture, earthenwares are descended to these days as living, utensils and ritual vessels that were used by mankind for the first time, and the earthenware have been treated as standard relics that represent a culture due to its inflammability. The present researcher takes as theme. "A Study of Textural Expression of Earthenware by glue dyeing" and as theoretical basic the production of works, an approach to the formation of shape and pattern of earthenware was studied through literatures. What the present researcher wants to express is to represent and recompose in modem manner various patterns obtained from the surface of earthenwares in the expression of texture with the cone of an earthenware in our country for a background, and those expression of texture can be derived directly from the human experiences or they can be the world of consciousness and unconsciousness, gathering and dispersion, tension and relaxation, and lightness and heaviness. An compatible expression of those aspects is attempted to express lines the visual texture caused by duplication of glue dyeing. As a result of experiment making use glue that is used in coloring in the Oriental paintings and experimental study of various texture of glue dyeing as a positive way of expression, the present researcher found that the treatment of base with glue was simple in the process of working and it had strong points in terms of the fact that it dyes well and can express freely the texture. In this study, the expressions showing to advantage the naive and simple forms being presented the surface of earthenware, and various expressions of texture with modernistic aesthetic values are suggested, and the works produced in this manner are interpreted subjectively. So, it is hoped that this study would be an opportunity for the people reading this paper to pay attention to the earthenwares in our country and the present researcher believes that the study is much helpful for researching a possibility of dyeing craft through the connection of glue with dyeing craft that prevent the spread of cloth and can be expressed freely.;예술은 시대가 변천함에 따라 끊임없이 혁신적인 표현의 영역을 개척하면서 섬유예술에 대한 새로운 접근법을 시도하고 있다. 낡은 것은 교체되고 한계들은 극복되며, 가치들은 계속 변화하여 정신의 새로운 현상(現象)들이 계속 일어난다. 하지만 하나의 진리는 다른 진리와 교체되는 것이 아니라 하나의 진리는 다른 진리로부터 부단히 발전해 나가는 것이다. 토기는 현대 대중문화와도 융합되면서 전통적인 아름다움을 갖춘 흙을 재료로 하여 만든 용기로 인류가 최초로 사용한 생활용구이자 제기(祭器)로서 오늘날까지 전해주고 있으며 그 본질의 불연성(不燃性) 때문에 언제나 한 문화를 대표하는 표준유물로서 취급되어 왔다. 본 연구자는 "호염에 의한 토기의 질감 표현 연구"로 주제를 설정했으며 그 방법으로 토기의 형태와 문양에 관한 조형적인 접근을 문헌을 통하여 연구함으로서 작품제작의 이론적 배경으로 삼았다. 본인의 작품 제작에서 표현하고자 하는 내용은 우리나라 토기의 원추형을 배경에 그리고 질감 표현은 토기의 표면에서 얻어지는 여러가지 문양을 현대적으로 표현하여 재구성 하였으며 이러한 질감 표현들은 인간경험의 직접적으로 우러나오는 면일 수도 있고 의식과 무의식의 세계, 모임과 흩어짐, 긴장과 이완, 가벼움과 무거움일 수도 있다. 이러한 면들의 양립적인 표현을 호료의 중첩으로 인한 선과 시각적 질감을 표현하려고 시도하였다. 적극적인 표현방법으로 호료의 다양한 질감 실험연구와 동양화에서 채색할때 사용하는 아교(阿膠)를 이용하여 실험연구를 한 결과 본 연구자의 작품제작에서는 여러가지 방염법이 있지만 아교로 바탕처리하는 것이 작업 과정에서 간단하고 더욱 염착이 잘 되고 질감표현을 자유롭게 할 수 있는 장점이 있었다. 본 연구에서는 토기의 표면에서 나타나는 소박하고 단순함으로 화려하지 않은 조형성이 돋보이는 표현들을 현대적인 미적 가치들을 부여하여 다양한 질감표현을 제시하였고 이렇게 제작된 작품들을 주관적으로 해석하였으며 이로써 본 연구를 대하는 사람들에게 우리나라 토기에 대한 보다 많은 관심이 생길 것을 기대하며 본 연구자는 천의 번짐을 막고 자유스럽게 표현할 수 있는 아교를 염색공예에 연결하므로써 염색공예의 가능성을 모색하는데 도움이 되었다고 본다.
