고등학교 국사교과서 삽화자료 분석과 그 개선 방안 모색

Abstract

현행 국사 교육과정 중에서 '역사지도·연표·도표·사료·실물·영상자료 등 다양한 학습자료를 활용하여 역사학습에 흥미를 높이고 스스로 탐구할 수 있는 능력을 기를 수 있도록 한다' 라고 한 것을 통해 역사학습에서 학습자료의 중요성을 알 수 있다. 이러한 학습자료 중에서 가장 경제적이고 체계적인 자료가 바로 교과서에 수록된 삽화자료라고 할 수 있다. 역사학습에서 교과서 삽화자료를 적극적으로 활용한다면 다음과 같은 효과를 얻을 수 있다. 즉, 학생들의 학습동기를 유발하고, 교과서 본문 내용에 대한 이해를 도울 수 있고, 학습내용을 보다 오랫동안 기억할 수 있도록 도와주는 역활을 한다. 또한 역사적 사실에 대한 직관력·상상력·비판력·탐구력 등 역사적 사고력을 육성할 수 있다. 따라서 교과서 삽화자료가 그 기능을 다하기 위해서는 수록 자료들의 정확성과 적절성이 요구된다. 이에 본 연구는 제 6 차 교육과정에 의해 제작·사용되고 있는 1996년 국사 교과서에 수록되어 있는 삽화자료를 중심으로 자료의 적절성과 정확성 등에 관해 살펴보았다. 우선적으로 교육과정과 교과서, 학습자료로서 삽화, 삽화자료의 활용이론을 중심으로 삽화자료의 필요성에 대한 이론적 배경을 고찰하였다. 그리고 삽화자료가 국사 교육과정의 기본정신을 '얼마나' 반영하고 있는가를 통계분석을 통해서 살펴보고, 외형분석에서는 교과서에서 삽화자료가 '어떻게' 수록되어 있는가를 고찰하였다. 또한 내용분석에서는 삽화자료의 유형별로 구체적으로 분석하여 문제점과 그에 대한 보완점들을 찾아보았다. 위와 같은 분석을 통해 삽화자료가 특정영역으로 편중되고 있으며, 삽화자료에 대한 충분한 설명과 해설이 부족하며, 삽화자료 자체에 정도의 차이는 있으나 교과서 삽화자료의 정확성과 적절성에서 문제점을 발견할 수 있었다. 이러한 점들을 바탕으로 교과서가 학습자료로서의 기능을 다하기 위한 방법으로 삽화자료의 개선방안을 모색하였다. 그 방안으로 교과서에서 삽화자료와 본문내용의 위치와 형태를 변화시켜 보았으며, 삽화자료가 갖는 성격에 따라 여러 유형을 통합함으로써 학습효과를 극대화할 수 있는 방법을 제안하였다. 이상과 같은 점들을 보완·개선한다면 교과서 삽화자료는 보다 효과적인 역사학습을 위한 가장 손쉽고, 가장 실질적으로 활용할 수 있는 학습자료가 될 것이다.;We can recognize the importance of learning materials in history education through the current senior high school history education courses say that the use of various learning materials such as history maps, chronicles, graphs, historic materials, objects, and visual materials help students to cultivate their capability of investigation and to stimulate their interests about history learning by themselves. Among these learning materials, the textbook illustration materials are the most economical and systematic. Exactly the history learning by th use of illustration materials can be helpful to an accomplishment of historical thinking and attitude. So as to fulfil fully the function of textbook illustration materials, the correctness and pertinence of materials illustrated must be needed. This study examined the correctness and pertinence of the learning materials centering around the illustration materials in the history textbook version of 1996 used and made by the 6th education course. For this purpose, first we investigated theoretical background about the necessity of illustration materials centering around the education course, textbook and illustrations as learning materials and we examined how much the basic principle of history education course had been reflected to the use of illustration materials by the statistic analysis and how illustration materials were included to the textbook by the synthetic analysis and by the content analysis, we concretely made an analysis of illustration materials by the type and looked for problems and improvements. Finally, on the basis of these points we tried to find out the best way of the improvement of illustration materials as function of learning materials themselves. As the result, if a cretin degree of difference, there are some pro blems in the correctness and pertinence of illustration materials, which were given great weight to certain types and were used only as a role to support the content of textbook. So more detailed, pertinent and various illustration materials improvement must be needed from the view point of illustration materials in textbook stimulate the learning motive of students and are used for helping to understand the content of textbook. If these problems will be corrected and illustration materials exactly will correspond to the purpose of history education, the illustration materials in textbook will be easiest and most practical learning materials available. This study on illustration materials in textbook is insufficient yet, even the theory of learning materials is not established definitely. After this, profound follow-up study on illustration materials manufacture and teaching method should be continued.
