그리이스 신화 "프로메데우스와 판도라"를 위한 일러스트레이션

Abstract

현대사회는 급속한 과학 문명의 발달로 산업사회의 확장을 가져왔으며, 이로 인한 물질적 풍요의 증대는 인간을 더욱더 편리하고 안락한 생활을 누리게 해주었다. 그러나 현대사회를 특징짓는 과학과 정치, 문화 및 사회구조가 인간의 주체적 지배를 벗어나서 도리어 인간을 소외시키고 있다. 이와같이 팽창하는 물질문명의 도시중심적인 생활속에 현대인들은 정신적 불안과 위기감이 가중되고 주위의 여러 가지 생활에서 부딪히는 현실에서 탈피하려는 기대를 갖게 되어 지친 몸과 마음을 쉴 수 있는 안식처를 찾게 된다. 현대인들은 이러한 복잡한 현실 상황속에서 탈피하고 싶은 마음에서 잊었던 자신의 꿈, 동경, 환상등을 다시 찾고 싶어하는데, 본 연구의 의도는 이렇게 복잡한 환경속에 생활하는 이들의 상상력과 감성을 자극하여 잠시나마 무거운 현실세계를 잊고, 정신적·시각적 안식처를 제공하기 위한 시도라고 할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적을 충족시키기에 가장 적절한 표현주제로서 비논리적이고 환상적인 그리이스 신화를 선택하였고 이를 시각화하기 위한 표현방법으로서 일러스트레이션을 이용하였다. 우선 Ⅱ장에서는 현대사회의 특성과 거기에서 파생되는 여러 가지 문제점들을 살펴보고 그것들이 우리 인간에게 미치는 부정적인 영향을 논술하였다. 이어서 현대의 시각커뮤니케이션을 고찰하여서 이 논문의 표현방법인 일러스트레이션의 이해를 돕고 끝으로 본 논문의 표현주제인 그리이스 신화의 간략한 개요를 논술하였다. Ⅲ장에서는 그리이스 신화중에서 "프로메데우스와 판도라"를 선택한 동기와 표현주제로서의 적합성에 대해 분석하고, 시각적 표현요소로서 여러 가지 종류의 선과 변형된 형태, 색채의 사용과 공간의 표현 그리고 드리핑에 대해 알아보았다. Ⅳ장의 결론에서는 현대사회 속에서 일러스트레이션은 주제를 전달하는 기능적 요소뿐 아니라 휴머니즘적 시각환경을 형성하는 정감에 바탕을 둔, 정서적 심미적 기능이 더욱 부각되어야 할 시각적 과제임을 강조하였다.;Attributable to rapid progress of scientific civilization in modern society expansion of industrial society has been resulted and increased affluence in our living made men enjoy more convenient and comfortable life. However science, polities, culture and social structures characterizing modern society are alienating human beings and escaping mastery of human beings over them. Like this the moderns living in the middle of continuously expanding urban-centered material civilization experience mental anxiety and sense of crisis and desire for escaping from realities colliding with variety of things and are seeking for sanctuaries where they can lay down their tired body and mind and rest. The moderns sought to recover their dreams, aspiration and fantasies lost to them out of their desire to escape from complicated reality and the purpose of this study is to stimulate imagination and sensitivity of the moderns living in this manner so that they can forget disheartening reality even momentarily and find spiritual and visual sanctuary of rest. To satisfy purpose of this study illogical and fantastic Greek mythology was chosen as the most suitable theme of expression and as means for visualizing them illustration was chosen. In Chapter Ⅱ characteristics of modern society and various related problems to such society have been studied and negative effects therefrom to human beings were examined. Additionally visuaul communication and brief outline of Greek mythology which is main theme of this treatise were described. In Chapter Ⅲ the reason for choosing "Prometheus and Pandora" in Greek mythology and its suitability as main theme of expression were analysed. As elements of visual expression different types of lines and modified types are used and examples for such expressions are studied. In Chapter Ⅳ in the part of conclusion it was stressed that with illustration not only its functional element for transmitting main theme but also its emotional functions based on sentiment and feelings forming humanistic visual environment should be more stressed.
