창살 문양에 의한 스카프 디자인 연구

Abstract

인류의 발생과 그 기원을 같이하고 있는 직물의 역사로 미루어 볼 때, 인간이 의복을 입게 되고 의복을 치장하고 싶은 의지를 갖게 됨으로써 인간은 장식에 관심을 갖게 되었다. 장신구의 목적이 처음에는 아름다워지고자 하는 본능적 욕구에서, 그리고 악령 퇴치라는 주술적인 목적에서, 또 한편으로는 부와 권력의 표시 수단으로서 애용되어졌지만 시대가 변천하고 인지가 발달함에 따라 미의식이 점차로 발달하여 장신구의 개념과 기능은 달라지게 되었다. 즉, 각자의 개성을 표현하는 자기표현의 수단으로 여겨지게 된 것이다. 이에 장신구의 일종인 스카프(scarf)도 의복에 대한 개념이 변화되고 장신구에 대한 개념이 변화하게 됨에 따라 이제는 의복의 액세서리(accessory)가 아닌 코오디네트의 주역이 되어 패션의 한 아이템으로 부상하게 되었다. 스카프란 다른 의류와 마찬가지로 처음에는 추위, 바람 등으로부터 신체의 일부를 보호하고자 하는 목적에서 생겨나 미적 효과를 중시하게 되는 오늘날에 와서는 많은 발전을 하게 되었다. 본 연구는 외국의 디자인을 그대로 복사하거나 모방하는 단계를 크게 벗어나지 못하고 있는 우리 나라 스카프 디자인의 실정에서 우리의 전통 문양을 소재로 스카프를 제작하여 우리의 스카프 패턴 디자인의 방향을 모색하고자 한다. 이론적 배경으로는 스카프의 개념과 변천, 스카프의 유형에 관하여 살펴보고, 창살 문양의 형태와 창살의 조형미에 대하여 문헌을 통해 공부해 보았다. 작품 제작시 본 연구자는 우리 나라 전통 문양 중에서도 조선 시대의 창살무늬를 소재로 스카프를 디자인하였으며, 제작 기법에 있어서는 스크린 날염(screen printing)을 사용하였다. 이를 바탕으로 본 연구자는 스크린 날염으로 창살 무늬의 조형성을 추구하는 10개의 작품을 제작하였으며 그 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 창살 문양은 현대 사회에서 잃어 가고 있는 우리만의 독특한 디자인을 회복해 줄 수 있는 적절한 소재로서 염색 작품에 응용 제작함으로써 스카프 패턴 디자인의 표현 가능성이 풍부하다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 창살의 조형미를 현대적 감각에 맞게 재구성함으로써 보다 새롭고 강한 이미지를 부각시킬 수 있었다. 셋째, 본 논문에서 사용한 스크린 날염(screen printing)은 종전의 스크린 날염을 응용한 기법으로 날염호에 방염제를 넣어 줌으로써 착색 및 방염력이 동시에 생기게 되므로 더욱 다양한 색채 표현이 가능하였고, 이러한 기법에 의한 작품 제작은 종래의 스크린 날염에서 좀더 다양한 표현이 가능하게 되었다. 이와 같은 연구를 바탕으로 본 연구자는 앞으로의 작품 제작에 있어서 꾸준한 연구와 노력으로 작품 소재를 창출해 내고 표현 기법에 있어서도 계속적인 연구 실험과 분석을 통해 시행착오와 난관을 극복하고 보다 창의적이고 다양한 표현이 가능하도록 그 방향을 모색해 보고자 한다.;As it is inferred that both histories of textile and mankind were originated together, a human being became interested in personal ornament as a result that he put on his cloth and had a desire of dressing up. The personal ornament at first was used for instinctive desire of beauty and for the purpose of repelling a devil and for representing wealth and authority, whereas its concept and function have been changed according to civilization have progressed. In other words, it has been regarded as a method of representing each person's individuality. Scarf which is a kind of personal ornament has been getting main coordinates as well as an accessory of cloth as the concepts of cloth and personal ornament have been changed. The purpose of wearing scarf at first like any other cloths was to protect a part of human body from coldness, wind, etc. and it has been improved these days when an aesthetic effect is rather important. In this research, I have produced the works based on Korean traditional lattice pattern and tried to figure out scarf pattern design while most of scarf designs in Korea still remain at the stage of imitation. For a theoretical base, I have studied the concept, the historical changes and the types of scarf, on the other hand, I have observed the forms of the lattice pattern and the beauty of its formation through literature survey. For the work, I designed the scarves using Cho-Sun Dynasty's lattice pattern and I technically used the screen printing method. Based on it, I have produced 10 pieces of work pursuing the nature of formation of the lattice pattern and as a result, I have concluded the followings. First, the lattice pattern is an appropriate matter which is able to rehabilitate our disappearing unique design and it enabled to have much possibility in expression of the scarf pattern design as applied to making dyeing works. Second, as the art of lattice formation was reorganized in modern style, the new and strong image could be established. Third, the screen printing used in this study was an applied technique of the existing screen printing method and it was capable of making the works beyond the former method as well as various color expression. Eventually, a steady efforts to do research could create a matter of works, and continuous experiment and analysis of expression techniques could overcome difficulties as well as trial and error. That's why I try to find out more creative and diverse expression while making works.
