地神밟기系 民俗놀이 硏究

Abstract

본고는 地神밟기를 분석함으로써, 地神밟기 系統으로 분류될 수 있는 民俗놀이를 선정하고, 나아가 地神밟기系 民俗놀이에 포함되어 있는 地神밟기 의례의 구성과 그 의미를 규명하고자 하는 의도에서 쓰여졌다. 이러한 의도를 살려 地神밟기系 民俗놀이를 고찰하기에 앞서, 먼저 地神밟기의 유래와 생성에 대하여 논의하고, 地神밟기의 성격을 논의하였다. 여기서도 가능한 객관적인 地神밟기의 면모에 접근하기 위해, 전국적인 지역 중에서 삼십여 곳을 추출하여 시기·인원 편성·사용 악기·연회 절차를 비교·분석함으로써 地神밟기의 성격을 규명하는 방법을 택했다. 그 결과 地神밟기는 새해를 맞이하여 대개 대보름에 農旗를 앞세워 農樂隊·假裝者·洞民이 패를 지어 家家戶戶 찾아가서 宅內의 諸神들에게 한 바탕 신명나게 農樂으로 告하여 祝祭를 벌이는 民俗놀이인 동시에, 地神을 밟아 주어 雜鬼와 雜神을 逐出해내면서 一年동안 家神들이 無病·無災하고 太平하기를 祝願하는 소박한 宗敎儀禮인 것으로 파악되었다. 地神밟기의 이러한 多義的인 성격은 전국에 분포되어 있는 地神밟기系 民俗놀이에 거의 그대로 드러난다. 地神밟기系 民俗놀이는 庶民들의 歲時놀이로 그들의 일과 환경에 의해서 제약받아 온 감정적 욕구를 분출하는 축제로서의 놀이이지만, 地神밟기 의례를 함께 거행함으로써 인간의 고유한 행복을 추구하는 기원을 신에게서 찾는 의미가 포함되어 있다 하겠다. 地神밟기系 民俗놀이에서 地神밟기는 액막이의 기능·豊農과 豊漁를 비는 祈豊儀禮의 기능·安宅祈福의 기능·마을 주민들의 단결과 화합을 조성하는 社會的 統合의 기능·경비 조달의 기능을 수행하고 있어, 전국의 각 지역에서 연희되는 놀이에서 함께 연희되는 것은 자연스러운 현상이며, 이는 歲時民俗 놀이의 의미를 잘 보여주는 놀이라고 판단되기 때문이다.;Jisin Bapgi is a Korean folk play performed on the 15th day of the first lunar month every year in which at first bearers of village's flags march playing instruments and next specially appointed villagers as a leader of the ritual visit every houses to make sacrifices and wishes to the spirits of house and comfort the gods of the terrain (Jisin in Korean) as well as tread down the earth (Bapgi) to drive off evil spirits and invoke blessings of gods. Therefore, it is a play that has many meanings with religious, folk musical and dramatic elements imultaneously. Playing music belongs to folk musical aspect, while villagers play is dramatic and making sacrifices and wishes or treading down the earth are religious behaviors. We can say plays related with this Jisin Bapgi in both form and matter aspects as plays in Jin Bapgi system, and thereby the author of this study has selected some plays as a subject matter. Plays in Jisin Bapgi system can be regarded as transformations of Jisin Bapgi, and I firstly have classified those transformations into simple or combined criteria. A folk play in Jisin Bapgi system has many functions including driving off evil spirits, wishing abundance in forming and fishing to gods, invoking blessings for the family and social and financial cooperation that it is not too much to say that they stand in the center of the other folk plays of Korea.
