로코코 복식을 응용한 현대 남성예복 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 현대복식의 다양한 논의 중에서 로코코 복식과 문양에서 모티브를 찾아내어 현대적 감각에 맞는 새로운 예복 디자인의 가능성을 제시하고자 하였다. 현대 남성 예복 연구를 위하여 로코코 양식과 복식, 그리고 예복에 대하여 고찰하고 로코코 시대 남자 복식의 형태와 문양을 남성복에 도입하여 첫째, 고부가가치를 지닌 장식성이 뛰어난 새로운 감각의 남성 예복 디자인 방향을 제시하고 둘째, 현대 예복 디자인 연구에 로코코 복식의 복식사적 재조명을 통해 과거와 현대의 조화를 모색함에 목적을 두었다. 연구의 이론적 배경으로 로코코 양식과 복식의 특징, 문양 등을 연구 대상으로 삼아 고찰하고, 현대 남성 예복의 변천과정과 예복의 개념과 종류를 살펴보았다. 그리고 자료 사진을 표집하여 로코코 시대 복식을 응용한 현대 복식 디자인과 현대의 예복 디자인의 사례를 살펴보았다. 본 연구의 방법으로 이론적 배경의 연구를 위하여 관계문헌 조사와 참고작품을 사진 자료를 통하여 살펴보았으며 이를 토대로 하여 작품을 제작하였다. 작품은 로코코 시대 남자 복식의 형태와 그 시대 문양의 특징을 현대 남성복식에 응용하여 총 5점을 실물 제작하였다. 이러한 연구과정을 통한 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 과거 로코코 시대의 남자 복식은 다양한 방법으로 장식미를 표현하였으며 현대 복식에도 응용가치면에서 발전의 여지가 많음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 로코코 시대의 문양은 화려한 색채와 다양한 기법으로 응용되어 있어서 현대 복식에 새로운 기법으로 도입하여 디자인 모티브로 이용할 수 있다. 셋째, 복식 표현에 있어서 복식사에서의 형태와 기법의 도입은 다양한 측면에서 복식표현의 주제가 될 수 있고, 이러한 주제를 통하여 과거와 현대와의 조화가 이루어 질 수 있음을 알게 되었다. 넷째, 예복디자인은 현대의 고정관념을 넘어 새로운 디자인 모티브의 도입으로 자유롭게 표현할 수 있으며 예복에서 자수와 비즈의 장식효과는 고부가가치의 화려함과 고급스러움을 표현하는 데 적합하다. 이상의 결과로 오늘날 복식 표현에 있어 과거 복식이 형태나 기법 등의 재창조를 바탕으로 한 다양한 각도에서 복식표현의 주제가 될 수 있으며 예복의 표현도 얼마든지 더 다양해 질 수 있는 여지가 남아 있음을 알 수 있다. 그러나 본 연구에서 다루지 못한 여자 복식의 형태와 종류, 로코코 시대의 색상에 대해서는 앞으로 계속해서 예복 디자인을 하는데 응용되어야 할 분야이다. 예복에 있어서도 우리나라 예복의 실태와 형태 등을 분석하고 우리나라 남자의 체형과 특징에 맞고 소재와 색상을 잘 이용한 새로운 예복 디자인을 연구하는 것은 남아 있는 과제이다.;This thesis is intended to suggest the possibility of new formal-wear design by adapting Rococo costumes and devices. To study contemporary men's formal-wear, the costume and formal-wear of the Rococo Ages are investigated and applied to the new design of men's formal-wear. Especially, high emphases are laid on suggesting the direction of high-value-added and highly decorative men's formal-wear design and also on harmonizing past and present in the contemporary formal-wear design by the historical re-evaluation to the costumes of the Rococo Ages. To find the new design motifs for men's formal-wear, the characteristics of the Rococo costumes as theoretical background, the changing course of men's formal-wear in the history of costume and the concept and classifications of the formal-wear were also carefully studied. In addition, the cases of the contemporary formal-wear designs are investigated through collecting photographs of the contemporary costume design which adapted the costume design of the Rococo Ages. According to the above mentioned process, eight sets of men's formal-wear with the characteristics of the Rococo Ages are produced. And the results of this study are as follows. First, men's formal-wear of the Rococo Ages adapted various methods of adornments and these methods can be applicable on contemporary costume design in various ways. Second, the devices of the Rococo Ages which had brilliant colors and were transformed by various techniques can be used as a new design motif in contemporary costume design. Third, the techniques and forms of the costumes which belong to the former Ages can be revived as the new motifs for contemporary costume design and through these motifs the harmony between past and present can be achieved. Finally, formal-wear design can be freely transformed by adapting new design motifs beyond the current fixed notions. And in formal-wear, embroidery and beads ornaments are proved to be adequate in achieving high-value-added gaiety and deluxeness and it is possible to produce better designs if combined with other techniques. In the course of this study, the fact that the costumes of the former Ages can be used as the new motifs for contemporary costume design is discovered and the formal-wear design has the room for more variety is also discovered.
