컨텍스츄얼리즘(Contextualism)적 접근방법에 의한 한국적 공간 조형의 실험적 디자인에 관한 연구

Abstract

20세기말 시대적 전환점(epoch)에서 건축환경을 변화시키는 요인은 무엇이며 그것의 적절한 대응은 어떤 것인가? 19세기말이 모더니즘적 정신 하에 있었다고 하면 20세기말의 변화의 요인들 중에서 특히 건축환경의 변화를 요구하는 것들, 이런 요인들이나 증후군의 분석, 해체, 종합을 통한 시대적, 사회적 상황의 이해, 적응이야말로 21세기 문턱에서 있는 우리에게 있어 꼭 필요한 자세이다. 우리는 서구 문화의 물밀듯한 소용돌이 속에서 자체내의 전통성과 정체성을 상실한 채 서구의 유행사조의 표피적인 모방에 급급한 형편이다. 따라서 세계화 시대에 있어 우리 문화의 자생력을 키우기 위해서는 서구문화에 대한 무분별한 수용 태도를 반성하고 올바른 가치관 정립에 의한 자기정체성과 주체성을 확립하여야 할 시점에 이르렀으며 지구 공동체 시대에 있어서 세계문화에 대한 한국의 시대적 대응은 글로발리제이션(globalization)과 로칼리제이션(localization)의 동시성이라는 새로운 상황을 통하여 그리고 범세계적인 보편성 위에서 문화적 정체성을 창조적으로 지켜나감으로서 가능한 것이다. 이러한 상황 속에서 환경의 예술적 전환과 실내환경 디자인의 자기정체성 확립을 위해서는 새로운 시각과 디자인 방법론에 있어서 새로운 접근방법을 요구하게 된다. 따라서 본 연구는 이러한 시대정신에 입각하여 한국적 공간조형을 디자인함에 있어 우리 선조들의 조형의식과 거기에 내재하는 전통적인 한국조형언어를 추출하여, '연속성'의 개념을 중요시하는 컨텍스츄얼리즘(Contextualism)적 접근방법에 의해 현대와 미래사회에 적합한 한국적 공간조형을 적용한 전시·문화공간을 제시하는데 그 의의가 있으며, 다음과 같은 과정으로 진행하였다. 1. 컨텍스츄얼리즘(Contextualism)이 대두된 시대적 배경으로 우선 패러다임의 전환에 따른 현대 조형 사조의 변화를 고찰하였다. - 이에 따른 근대건축의 내재적 문제점과 한계를 정리하고, 현대의 다원적 건축 경향을 살펴봄으로써 현대건축에서 Contextualism이 차지하고 있는 위치를 파악해 보았다. 2. 본 연구의 객관적이며 보편적인 이론의 배경으로서 Contextualism에 대한 이론적 고찰을 하였다. - 먼저 Contextualism과 그 이해를 쉽게 하기 위해 Context의 의미를 알아보고, 그 이론적 기반 및 특성을 2장에서 논한 근대건축의 한계와 대조해 봄으로써, Contextualism의 성격과 추구하는 방향을 명백히 하였다. 3. 작가와 작품분석을 통하여 현대 유럽과 미국에서의 Contextualism의 성격과 추구하는 방향을 명백히 하였다. 4. 한국적 상황에 적용할 한국적 Context를 모색하기 위해 한국적 공간조형에 대하여 고찰하였다. - 먼저 한국적 Context의 의미와 그 표현에 대해 살펴보고, - 그것을 적용할 한국적 공간조형의식과 사상의 변천과정을 통해 현재의 문제점을 인식하고, 한국적 공간조형의 개념과 특성을 고찰하였다. - 이를 토대로 한국적 공간조형을 디자인하기 위한 준거의 틀로써 Contextualism의 구성인자를 빌어와 크게 형태론적 측면과 공간론적 측면으로 구분하여 접근하도록 하였다. 5. 이상에서 살펴본 이론적 배경과 현대적 접근방법의 틀을 바탕으로 이를 적용할 수 있는 공간으로 전시·문화공간을 설정하고, 프로그래밍 단계와 디자인 단계로 나누어 Contextualism적 접근방법에 의한 한국적 전통성이 현대적으로 재해석되어 표현되는 디자인 안을 제시하였다. 6. Context 측면, 공간 구조적 측면, 이용자행태 측면으로 나누어 종합 및 평가를 함으로써 연구의 미비점을 보완하며 평가한다. 이와같은 연구결과, 문화와 전통, 시각적 연속성을 회복하고자 하는 시도로 Context를 중시하는 현상은, 그것이 사회적 Identity와 장소성, 문화적 연속성을 부여해 주고 있다는 점에서 아울러 행태에 대한 관심과 접근은 건축이 기능과 경제성의 결과라는 모더니즘의 한계를 인식하고, 인간의 감성을 고양해 주는 미적 차원의 강조라는 점에서 그 의의를 찾을 수 있다.;At the turning point of late 20th century, what are the elements which change architectural environment, and how can we cope with them? If late 19th century was under the modernism, we need to understand, adjust ourselves to social situation through analyzing, synthesizing of those elements of the change in late 20th century, especially, architectural change. In the mean time, we are inclined to superficially immitate the western trends in the storming western culture losing the tradition and identity. In the period of glob- alism, in order to grow our self-existing ability, we are come to the point that have to reflex our attitude to the western culture and establish the self-identity and sub- jectivity by right value, furthermore, the korean response of the time to the world should be preserved by the creativity based on the university. Also as it is trans- formed to now value of world by modern physics the environmental design which are studying the relationship of man and environment can be approached by the research of the mutual relationship, in which are practicable through the inter-dis-ciplinary approach. For the artistic transforming of environment and the establishment of self -identi- fication in interior design, it should be needed inevitably that we have new sight and research in design methodology. Accordingly, this study will extract our ancestors' modeling concepts and inter- nal traditional modeling language in the designing of korean space modeling, and it will suggest the modern- and future-oriented korean space modeling by the con- textual approach method. The approach process is as follows 1. I examined the change of modern modeling trends according to paradigm di- version. 2. I examined the contextualism as a background of researcher's objective, gen- eral theory. 3. I clarified the character and pursuing direction of modern european, american contextualism through an analysis of author and his works. 4. To group about korean context, I examined korean space modeling. 5. On the basis of the theoretical background and modern approach which was I examined above, I established exhibition- culture space, and divided it into pro- gramming step and design step. By doing so, I suggested a design plan ex- pressed and retranslated by contextualism approach. 6. I supplement and evaluate defects of this study by synthesizing and grading it after dividing into contextual, space structural, user's aspects. In the result of this study, a phenomenon of taking a serious views of the context as an attempt to recover the cultural, traditional, visual continuity, has a meaning in a sense that it gives us the social identity and spatial, cultural continuity, recog-nizes the limit a s a result of our interest and approach, and is an artistical empha-sis which elevates human sense.
