압축된 물고기의 시각적 표현연구

Abstract

사진이 발명된 이후부터 사진은 여러가지 방식으로 우리들에게 보여져왔다. 현대에 이르러서는 이미지 위주의 컴퓨터 작업이 활성화되어 시각문화의 구심점이었던 전통적인 사진의 지위에 커다란 타격을 주었다. 이 새로운 영상기술들은 우리가 일상생활에서 영상를 대하고 사용하는 방식에 영향을 미쳤다. 본 논문은 이러한 사진 영상을 보여주는 방식의 변화를 체험함으로서 새로운 방식의 사진을 선보이고자 한다. 카메라 렌즈를 통해 눈으로 보고 찍고자 하는 사물을 촬영하는 것이 아니라 직접 찍을 오브제(object)를 스캐너라는 입력장치를 통해 사물을 영상화 시키는 작업이다. 현재 일반적으로 스캐너는 입체적인 사물을 스캔 받는 것이 아닌 평면화된 종이나 사진 등을 찍는 기계로 알려져 왔지만 최근에 스캐너를 이용한 사진 작업을 하는 작가가 선보이기도 했다. 자연은 인간에게 무한한 의미를 지니고 있으며, 끝없는 관심의 대상이었고 예술적 표현 대상이 되어 왔다. 자연에 대한 관심은 예술의 아름다움을 낳게 하는 모태가 된다. 예술창작의 목적은 자연의 모방 그 자체에 있는 것이 아니라, 예술가의 내적 심상을 통해 자연의 이미지를 다양한 각도로 조명하여 새로운 미적 가치를 창조하는데 있다. 자연의 수많은 표현 대상 중 이 새로운 방식을 통해 보여주고자 하는 이미지는 바로 물고기이다. 물고기는 사진에서도 많이 다루는 소재이지만 본인은 여기에 압축이라는 외부적 압력을 주어 거기서 보여주는 물고기의 형태가 사진 이미지로는 어떻게 시각화되어 나타나는 지를 탐구하는데 본 논문의 목적을 두었다. 더불어 이 논문은 스캐너를 통한 영상작업이 현대 사진 속에서 어떠한 의미를 가질 수 있는지 모색할 수 있는 좋은 계기이고 앞으로 논문을 통해 작품을 한층 더 발전시킬 수 있는 근거로 삼는데 의의를 두고 있다. ;Since the invention of photography, manifestation through photographs has been made in various ways. Nevertheless, in recent days, computerized images have been brought to light, and as a result of it, the traditional status of photographs playing the centripetal role in the field of visual culture has suffered a great deal. These new image techniques have affected our ways of responding to and using images in our daily lives. In the respect above, this study intends to introduce a new method of photography by experiencing changes in the ways of showing photographed images. This new method is of making images of objects through an input equipment that is scanner, not of photographing the wanted objects by looking through camera lenses. Up until the present time, the scanner has been known to scan plane papers, etc., not dimensional objects, however, lately, there are artists who are using the scanner for their photographing works. It is affirmed that mother nature is full of no-limit meanings to us, having been the object of endless interest and artistic expressions. The interest in nature is the very matrix for giving birth to the beauty of arts. The objective of creating arts is the creation of new value of beauty by shedding light on images of nature from all angles through artists' inner mental images, not the imitation of nature herself. Among innumerable objects for expression, the images intended to show through this new method is those of fishes. Though fishes have been the material often used for photographing, in this study, the exterior pressure of compression has been added to the above, and researches have been made on after which, what comes of the visualization of the fish shapes in photographed images, that is the objective of this study. Moreover, it is hoped that this study will provide good opportunities to seek what kind of meaning the making of image works through the scanner has in modern photography, and will contribute to the further advancement of works described as such from hence forth, where the significance of this study lies.
