놀이 상황에서의 집단 크기와 놀이감 특성에 따른 놀이 행동 유형에 관한 연구

Abstract

This study aims at knowing play behavior patterns as sex and age of the young children and the size of group and the characteristic of play materials (convergent-divergent) in the play situation each class consisted of 40 and 20 members. To accomplish for the purpose of this study, the following three questions have been selected : 1. Is the play behavior of the young children different according to the size of group? 2. Is the play behavior of the young children different according to children's sex in each group size? 3. Is the play behavior of the young children different according to the children's age in each group size? 4. Is the play behavior of the young children different according to the characteristic of play materials? The subjects of this study were selected at random in the 2 classes of a kindergarten. They are 20 4-year-old children (boy ; 10, girl ; 10), and 20 5-year-old children (boy ; 10, girl ; 10). Observation was made in free play time to view play behavior in natural surroundings and used play behavior classification rule applied by Rubin, Watson, Jambor(1978). Also, to observe play behavior patterns according to the characteristics of play materials the classification yardstick following Pepler & Ross(1981)'s play material inflectional level(convergent material, divergent material) was put into use. Obseving for 15 seconds, recording for 15 seconds was employed as observation method in the record paper the researcher made and the total of observation times to a child is 80 and observation time is 20 minutes The study procedure was enforced with dividing into pre and main observation. Data analysis was done by frequency and percent, Chi-square test according to the study matter. Summarizing the results of the study is as followings : 1. The social -cognitive play behavior patterns of the young children was different prominently according to the size of group. The Young Children played group - constructive play · group - dramatic play in the situation of the group consisted of 20 and parallel - functional play · group - dramatic play in the situation of the group consisted of 40. 2. The social - congnitive play behavior patterns of the young children was different prominently according to the children's sex in each group size. In the situation of the group consisted of 20, boy palyed solitary - dramatic play · group - dramatic play more than girls did, girls playd parallel - functional play · group - functional play more than boys did. In the situation of the group consisted of 40, boys played solitary - dramatic play · group - dramatic play more than girls did, girls played parallel - functional play·group - functional play more then boys did. 3. The social -cognitive play behavior patterns of the young children was different prominently according to the children's age in each group size. In the situation of the group consisted of 20, 4 - year - old children played solitary - dramatic play · parallel - functional play · parallel - constructive play · parallel - dramatic play more than 5 - year - old children did, 5 - year - old children played group - functional play · group - constructive play · group - dramatic play more than 4 - year - old - children did. In the situation of the group consisted of 40, 4 -year - old children played solitary - dramatic play · parallel - functional play · parallel - dramatic play more than 5 - year - old children did, 5 - year - old children played group - functional play · group - constructive play more than 4 - year - old children did. 4. The social - connitive play behavior patterns of the young children was different prominently according to the characteristics of play materials. Playing with convergent play materials, the young children played parallel - functional play · group - functional play more and playing with divergent play materials, they played group - constructive play · parallel - constructive play more.;본 연구는 유치원 교실의 면적이나 구성 및 교재·교구의 종류와 양을 고정시켜 두고 학급당 유아수가 40명인 놀이 상황과 학급당 유아수가 20명인 놀이 상황에서 집단 크기와 놀이감의 특성 (수렴적-확산적)에 따른 유아의 놀이 행동 유형을 알아보는데 그 목적이 있다. 이와 같은 목적에 따라 다음과 같이 연구 문제를 설정하였다. 1. 집단 크기에 따라 유아의 놀이 행동 유형은 차이가 있는가? 2. 집단 크기 안에서 유아의 성에 따라 놀이 행동 유형은 차이가 있는가? 3. 집단 크기 안에서 유아의 연령에 따라 놀이 행동 유형은 차이가 있는가? 4. 놀이감의 특성에 따라 유아의 놀이 행동 유형은 차이가 있는가? 연구 대상은 집단 크기가 40명인 한 유치원의 2학급에서 4세 20명 (남;10, 여;10), 5세 20명 (남;10, 여;10)을 무작위로 선정하였다. 자연스러운 놀이 상황에서의 놀이 행동을 관찰하기 위하여 자유 놀이 시간에 실시하였으며 Rubin, Watson, Jambor (1978)가 사용한 놀이 행동 분류 기준을 사용하였다. 또한 놀이감 특성에 따른 놀이 행동 유형을 관찰하기 위하여 Pepler & Ross (1981)의 놀이감 활용도 (수렴적 놀이감, 확산적 놀이감)에 따른 분류 기준을 사용하였다. 관찰 방법은 연구자가 작성한 기록 용지에 15초 관찰, 15초 기록의 방법을 사용하였으며 한 아동당 총 관찰 횟수는 80회이고 한 아동당 총 관찰 시간은 20분이었다. 연구 절차는 예비 관찰과 본 관찰로 나누어 실시하였다. 자료 분석은 연구 문제에 따라 빈도와 백분율, x^(2) 검증 (Chi-square test)을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 유아의 사회-인지적 놀이 행동 유형은 집단 크기에 따라 유의한 차이가 있었다. 집단 크기가 20명인 상황에서는 집단-구성놀이, 집단-극놀이를 더 많이 하였으며, 집단 크기가 40명인 상황에서는 집단-극놀이, 병행-기능놀이를 더 많이 하였다. 집단 크기가 20명인 상황에서는 집단 크기가 40명인 상황에서 보다 병행-기능놀이는 감소한 반면, 집단-구성놀이는 증가하였다. 2. 유아의 사회-인지적 놀이 행동 유형은 집단 크기 안에서 유아의 성에 따라 유의한 차이가 있었다. 집단 크기가 20명일때 남아는 여아보다 단독-극놀이, 병행-극놀이를 더 많이 하였고, 여아는 남아보다 단독-기능놀이, 병행-구성놀이를 더 많이 하였다. 또한, 집단 크기가 40명 일때 남아는 여아보다 단독-극놀이, 집단-극놀이를 더 많이 하였고, 여아는 남아보다 병행-기능놀이, 집단-기능놀이를 더 많이 하였다. 3. 유아의 사회-인지적 놀이 행동 유형은 집단 크기 안에서 유아의 연령에 따라 유의한 차이가 있었다. 집단 크기가 20명일 때 4세아는 단독-극놀이, 병행-기능놀이, 병행-구성놀이, 병행-극놀이를 더 많이 하였고 5세아는 집단-기능놀이, 집단-구성놀이, 집단-극놀이를 더 많이 하였다. 또한 집단 크기가 40명일때 4세아는 단독-극놀이, 병행-기능놀이, 병행-극놀이를 더 많이 하였고, 5세아는 집단-기능놀이, 집단-구성놀이를 더 많이 하였다. 4. 유아의 사회-인지적 놀이 행동 유형은 놀이감의 특성(수렴적-확산적)에 따라 유의한 차이가 있었다. 유아가 수렴적 놀이감을 갖고 놀때는 병행-기능놀이, 집단-기능놀이를 많이 하였으며, 확산적 놀이감을 갖고 놀때는 집단-구성놀이, 병행-구성놀이를 많이 하였다.
