일상의 여정 이미지에 의한 섬유디자인

Abstract

There are many fabrics around our life style. If the feature of fabric is what is created from nothing by creativeness, then we will be able to call it art, and if it is art, then it should have human being's thoughts and mind. This project paints the process of making textiles which contain a story. I would express the discovery of motif through the journey of everyday life that emerges from the possibility of space-time of Seoul in 21st century and the discovery of philosophy of changes of value in the reality that follows brands and of relativeness of value. I visualize the variable value with the motif of changes of exterior of day and night. I propose a textile design in the following scheme; Firstly, I find a motif by taking pictures of subject matters that is found during the various journeys experienced in everyday life in unfocused and moving position. Secondly, I create images full of unbalanced dynamic rhythms, in the way of photoshop. Thirdly, I express delicate and various colors by digital printing. I aim at saturated, low-chromatic and naturally shown colors. Fourthly, I make textiles full of texture by sewing biased string on a fabric, its line implies the meaning of relations and the line is the starting point of the eternal endless possibility. Fifthly, I use silk and new material like elastic. Silk is for scarves which contacts skin directly, elastic is for upper garments which should be practical. Sixthly, I produce a design originated from art. I make images filled with designer's thinking and I don't make just a pattern itself. Therefore I create the realm where art and design combine. In this dialectic way, I evoke sympathy from the people who share the same social reality, make a space-time which subject and object has sympathy, and discover the reconstruction of everyday life though a journey. The comclusion is following; Firstly, I created a unique pattern that can be found in nowhere with the motif of an exterior through a journey. Secondly, abstract images with full of colors show dynamic energy moving, not stagnated, with which I tried to embody suggestion of dynamism of social reality, a problem whether I possibly was able to embody it or not will be solved by appreciators or critics. Thirdly, I intended to implicate the direction of a speed by biased string, the consequence if intention shows the metaphysics of line in which artists in the past also implied. Fourthly, using natural fiber, silk for 16 scarves was reasonable like traditional and today's method, using new material for 20 upper garment was suitable and it's 21st century's way. Fifthly, I created images with motif that changes day and night to express changes of everyday life, that was appropriate art work in rational way, but to divide the time by differentiating day and night was one-dimensional reasoning and to investigate changes of time I realize I need next step of more compound thinking. Sixthly, the feature of time that changes day and night was proper to show relativeness of value. The term ,'value' in this investigation philosophically means to take it into account in decision making or to be inclined to advance it as a consideration in influencing choice, to show the relativeness of value, in other word, subjectiveness of value, was not easy. To choose one pattern and to insist that the pattern implies value is from very ideological view point. I don't know if some critic would say the art work of this investigation is philosophical, I would say the outcome of this thesis is a trial of visualization of changes of value.;우리 생활 주변에는 많은 섬유들이 있다. 그러나 그러한 섬유 자체의 모습, 그것이 창의성으로 인하여 무에서 창조되는 것이라면 예술이라 할 수 있고, 예술이라면 그 안에 인간의 사고와 마음이 내재되어 있어야 할 것이다. 본 연구는 이야기를 담고 있는 섬유를 만들어내는 과정을 그린다. 21세기 서울이라는 시공간적인 가능성 안에 일어나는 일상에서의 여정을 통한 꿈과, 브랜드를 쫓고 있는 현실 속에 가치변화와 가치의 상대성이라는 철학적 발견을 이미지로 나타내려 한다. 낮과 밤의 익스테리어(exterior) 변화를 모티프로 하여 가변적 가치를 시각화한다. 이에 다음과 같은 방법으로 섬유디자인을 제안하고자 한다. 첫째, 일상 속에 경험하는 작고 큰 여행 중에 발견하는 익스테리어를 소재로 역동적 상태에서 중점을 두어 사진을 찍음으로써 모티프를 찾는다. 둘째, 포토샵으로 언발란스에 초점이 맞추어진, 동적인 리듬이 가득한 이미지를 창조한다. 셋째, 디지털 프린팅으로 섬세하고 다양한 색을 표현한다. 자연스럽고 채도가 낮은 적셔진 느낌(saturated)의 색을 지향한다. 넷째, 바이어스 선을 재봉하여 텍스츄어가 살아있는 섬유를 만들되 선은 그 의미가 관계를 함축하며 미래주의적인 다이내믹한 속도를 가지며 끝이 안 보이는 무한한 가능성을 여는 시작의 한 부분이다. 다섯째, 실크 및 신축성 있는 신소재를 사용한다. 몸에 직접 닿는 스카프는 실크로 제작하고 실용성을 가져야하는 상의는 신소재로 제작한다. 여섯째, 예술이 디자인화 된 제품을 제작한다. 패턴 위주의 디자인이 아닌 본 연구자의 사고가 담긴 이미지를 제작한다. 그리하여 예술과 디자인이 결합하는 영역을 창조한다. 이 같은 정.반.합의 방법으로 같은 현실을 살고 있는 사회의 사람들로부터 공감을 얻어 주관과 객관이 교감하는 시공간을 만들어내며, 여정을 통해 일상을 재구성하는 새로운 발견을 한다. 본 연구를 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 여정을 통한 익스테리어를 모티프로 하여 얻어진 디자인은 다른 어느 곳에서도 찾을 수 없는 고유한 패턴을 만들어내었다. 둘째, 색이 주를 이룬 추상적인 이미지는 정체되지 않은 동적인 에너지의 움직임을 보여주며, 본 연구자는 그것으로 사회 현실의 역동성을 나타내려는 암시를 담으려 하였다. 셋째, 바이어스 선은 속도의 관계의 표현을 나타내며 속도의 방향성을 함축하려는 시도였다. 과거와 현대에 이르는 예술가들의 선의 미학을 연구하는 시간을 가졌다. 넷째, 16 개의 스카프를 실크라는 천연섬유로 제작한 것은 현재에 이르는 과거의 전통으로 보아 합리적인 일이었고, 21세기 동시대적 어패럴의 소재로 신소재를 사용하여 20벌의 상의를 제작하였다. 다섯째, 일상의 변화를 표현하고자 모티프가 낮과 밤으로 변하는 이미지를 그렸는데, 그것은 논리적으로 타당한 예술행위였으나, 시간의 변화를 단지 낮과 밤으로 나누었다는 것은 일차적인 논리로서, 시간의 변화를 연구함에 있어서 과거의 편견을 벗어난, 더욱 복합적인 생각의 심화 단계가 필요함을 알았다. 여섯째, 낮과 밤으로 나뉘며 변하는 시간의 모습은 가치의 상대성을 나타내기에 적절했다. 본 연구에서 쓰이는 ‘가치(value)’란, 선택에 영향을 주는데 있어서 그것이 먼저 고려의 대상으로 선행되어 따른다는 철학적 의미가 담긴 것인데, 그것의 상대성, 즉 주관성을 섬유디자인으로 보여주는 것은 쉽지 않은 일이었다. 한 가지 패턴을 정하고 그것을 가치라 암시를 이입하며, 다른 차원에서 그 패턴을 시각화하여 보여줌으로서 변할 수 있다는 상대성을 말한다는 것은 무척 관념적인 일이나, 본 연구자는 가치변화를 시각화하는 것을 시도한 것으로 의의를 둔다.
