샤모아 OLAP 컴포넌트 기반의 통합 OLAP 시스템

Abstract

These days, a number of enterprises use the Business Intelligence (BI) applications as their decision-support tools. Major elements of the BI include ETL tools for extracting, transforming and loading data, Data Warehouses for storing extracted data in an easily analytical form, OLAP for multidimensional analysis of data, and Data Mining for finding patterns and relations hidden in the data. We need an integrated environment to use various software developed fur supporting these technologies mote efficiently. 'Chamois Framework' is a component-based knowledge engineering framework designed for this purpose. In this thesis, we propose 'Chamois OLAP' that is a system for integrating various OLAP products as a part of Chamois Framework. Chamois OLAP is designed to integrate various commercial OLAP products and the PIKE OLAP module developed by our team. It provides Chamois OLAP API and adapters to access to these components in a common way. Chamois OLAP API provides methods to create OLAP metadata and retrieve a cube data. Adapter is a runtime library that dynamically converts the Chamois OLAP API to proprietary commercial software APIs such as OLE DB for OLAP, JOLAP, and XML for Analysis (XML/A) API. In this thesis, we propose 'XMLMD' that is an adapter for XML/A. And we propose 'Chamois OLAP Manager' that is an OLAP data management tool supporting several OLAP products as an application of Chamois OLAP. Supporting various OLAP products in integrated environment like' Chamois OLAP' enhance the range of choices fer OLAP product and helps to upgrade to a better OLAP product easily without modifying the codes of application programs.;오늘날 많은 기업들은 비즈니스 의사 결정을 위한 도구로 비즈니스 인델리전스 어플리케이션을 사용한다. 비즈니스 인텔리전스의 핵심적 기술로는 데이터를 추출, 변환, 로딩하는 ETL, 추출된 데이터를 분석에 용이한 형태로 저장하는 데이터 웨어하우스, 정보를 다차원적으로 분석하기 위한 OLAP, 데이터에 숨겨진 패턴과 관계를 찾아내는 데이터마이닝 등이 있다. 이러한 기술들을 지원하기 위해 개발된 다양한 소프트웨어를 보다 효율적으로 사용하기 위해서는 통합된 환경이 필요하며, '샤모아 프레임워크'는 이를 위해 설계된 컴포넌트 기반의 지식공학 프레임워크이다. 본 논문에서는 샤모아 프레임워크의 일부분으로써, 다양한 OLAP 소프트웨어를 통합하기 위한 시스템인 '샤모아 OLAP'을 제안한다. 샤모아 OLAP은 다양한 상용 OLAP 소프트웨어와 본 연구팀에서 개발한 PIKE OLAP 모듈을 컴포넌트로 통합하였고, 이 컴포넌트들을 공통된 방법으로 접근하기 위하여 샤모아 OLAP API와 어댑터를 제공한다. 샤모아 OLAP API는 OLAP 큐브, 차원 계층 구조 등의 메타데이터를 생성하고 검색할 수 있는 기능과 다차원 큐브 데이터를 조회할 수 있는 기능을 제공한다. 어댑터는 OLAP 서버의 API로 변환하는 기능을 하며, 본 논문에서는 XML for Analysis APl의 어댑터인 'XMLMD'를 제안한다. 또한 본 논문에서는 '샤모아 OLAP'의 응용 사례로써 여러 OLAP 제품을 지원하는 OLAP 데이터 관리 툴인 '샤모아 OLAP Manager'를 제안한다. 샤모아 OLAP과 같이 통합 환경에서 다양한 OLAP 제품들을 지원할 수 있다는 것은 다양한 기능을 갖는 OLAP 제품들의 선택의 폭을 넓히고, 응용 프로그램의 코드를 수정하지 않아도 보다 나은 기능을 갖는 OLAP제품으로의 업그레이드를 쉽게 할 수 있다는 장점이 있다.
