大韓每日申報 國文版에 대한 考察

Abstract

大韓每日申報는 露日戰爭이 한참이던 1904年 7月 창간되어 이후 합방때까지 6年間 日帝의 侵略 政策에 대항하고 民族意識 고취에 앞장섰던 신문이다. 申報는 1907年 5月 國文版의 발간 이후 英文版 國文版 國漢文版의 3種類로 간행되었는데 本稿에서는 주로 國文版에 초점을 맞추어 서술해 보았다. 國文版은 日帝의 言論 彈壓 으로 民族 言論의 論調가 현저히 위축되 있을 때 일반 대중의 民族 意識 고취와 지식 계발을 위해 발간되었다. 1907年이후 同時에 발간되기 시작하던 國漢文版과 國文版을 비교해 보면 體制나 論調面에서는 커다란 차이가 없으며 編輯도 兩 新聞을 다 梁起鐸이 맡아 보고 있었다. 그러나 國漢文版이 漢文을 解讀할 수 있는 知識層을 대상으로 한 반면 國文版은 일반 대중을 상대로 발간되었기에 內容面에 있어서는 여러가지 차이점이 발견되고 있다. 論說이나 寄書의 경우 國文版은 보다 일반 대중들이 接하기 쉬운 내용이나 이들의 관심사를 다루고 있으며 小說이나 대한고적등의 誤樂物에 많은 지면을 할애하여 일반 대중들의 興味를 끌어보려 하고 있다. 또한 廣告의 경우도 國文 申報의 讀者層을 의식하여 여학도 모집 廣告라든지 유모 광고 국문 책광고등이 주로 게재되고 있다. 이처럼 國文版은 같은 內容이라도 한글로 쉽게 풀어서 게재하고 어렵거나 딱딱한 내용은 빼 버리는 등 讀者의 편의에 맞게 신문을 재구성하여 이들의 심층으로 파고 들어갈 수 있었다. 게다가 국문 신보는 사장이 英國人이라는 점을 감안, 治外法權을 活用하여 日帝에 대해 强力한 抗日 論調를 펴 갔기에 그만큼 국민의 지지와 성원도 컸다. 국문 신보는 1907年 5月서부터 합방때까지 불과 3年 남짓 발행되었지만 국채보상운동, 신교육운동등의 애국계몽운동과 의병 활동에 많은 影響을 끼쳤다. 또한 이 신문은 부녀자계층을 비롯한 일반 대중의 계몽에 앞장서 國漢文版이 해낼 수 없었던 사명을 훌륭히 完遂해 냈다는 점에서 韓末 愛國啓蒙期의 한 중요한 위치를 차지한다 하겠다.;TAHAN MAEIL SHINPO (Korean daily newspaper) was first published in 1904 when Russia and Japan were at war. From then to the Japanese annexation of Korea it took the lead in inspiring national consciousness and opposing Japanese interference in Korea. The newspaper was divided into three classes; Korean, English and Korean - Chinese version. In this thesis the writer focuses on Korean edition especially. Under Japanese pressure on public opinion Korean edition was aimed for infusing patriotism in the heart of people and improving knowledge. Comparing Korean edition with Korean - Chinese one, published in 1907, we can find out that there is not conspicous difference in form and tone of the argument. They also had same editor Yang Ki - taek. However the former was for ignorant people and the last for the intellectual who could understand Chinese. Consequently the contents of the newspapers were different in many ways. Articles and letters in Korean edition dealt with daily concerns that low class people could understand easily. There was much room for novels and entertainments in it. In case of advertisements, considering the readers of the newspaper, they published want ads of housewife and girl students or Korean version books ads. The Korean version published for just three years from May in 1907 had effects on NEW ENLIGHTENMENT, PATRIOTIC MOVEMENT, COMPENSATION OF NATIONAL DEBT MOVEMENT and VOLUNTARY ARMY MOVEMENT. It has an important place in the history of Korean press in the respect that it accomplished the role of enlightening labors, women and the general public.
