풍자적 표현을 위한 글과 그림의 관계 연구

Abstract

오늘날의 일러스트레이션은 책의 이야기에 부연 설명을 더해주던 삽화개념에서 점차 역할이 증대되어 그 자체가 텍스트로 기능하기도 한다. 영상과 감성을 중시하는 포스트모더니즘 시대에 들어 이러한 경향은 더욱더 증가하고 있는 추세이다. 일러스트레이션이란 ‘비추다’ 혹은 ‘조명하다’라는 뜻을 가지고 있다. 그렇다면 무엇을 비추고 조명한다는 것일까? 여기에서 비추고 조명하는 대상이 되는 것은 바로 텍스트 본 연구에서 텍스트라고 사용하는 용어는 문자로 쓰여진 글만을 의마하는 것이 아니라 내용 즉. 컨텐츠를 의미한다. 를 말한다. 일러스트레이션과 텍스트는 불가분의 관계에 있다. 일러스트레이션이 글 없이 단독으로 사용되는 경우도 있지만 실재로 일러스트레이션이 들어가는 많은 매체에서 일러스트레이션은 글과 함께 존재한다. 그렇기 때문에 일러스트레이션은 글과 밀접한 관련을 가지게 된다. 글과 그림은 서로 다른 구조를 가진 시각 기호이다. 이러한 서로 다른 시각 기호가 만났을 때는 단순한 둘의 합이 아닌 제 3의 의미를 만들어 내기도 한다. 작가는 자신이 전달하고자 하는 메시지의 내용과 종류에 따라 서로 다른 구조를 가진 이 두 가지 시각기호의 관계를 설정한다. 글과 그림은 다양한 관계를 갖는데 크게 3가지 범주로 나누어 보면 첫째 .서로 대응되는 경우 , 둘째 서로 부족한 부분을 보완해주는 경우 셋째 글과 그림이 일치하지 않는 굴절 관계에 있는 경우가 있다. 본 연구자는 세 번째 경우인 글과 그림이 불일치하는 아이러니 관계로 인해 발생되는 제 3의 의미에 관심을 가졌다. 아이러니가 풍자적 표현 수단으로 자주 사용되는 수사법임을 미루어 작품의 내용을 풍자적 표현으로 방향을 설정하고 스페인의 대표적인 풍자 소설인 <돈키호테>를 텍트로 선택했다. 이와 같이 글과 그림의 관계에 대한 연구를 하는 것은 일러스트레이션의 역할과 기능을 이해하는 것을 발전시키며 독자와 보다 섬세하고 원활한 커뮤니케이션을 할 수 있는 기반이 될 것으로 보인다. 이를 위해 우선 2장에서는 작품의 내용에 대한 이론적 기반으로 풍자적 표현의 어법에 대해 알아본다. 풍자적 어법에는 크게 4가지 알레고리, 패러디, 그로테스크, 아이러니가 있는데 본 연구에서는 이 중 아이러니에 초점을 맞추어 작품을 진행하기로 했다. 3장에서는 글과 그림의 기호적 특성과 두 기호의 다양한 관계에 대해 언급한 뒤 그 중 아이러니적 관계에 대해 더 자세한 사례를 들어 연구했다. 4장에서는 풍자적 표현을 위한 아이러니라는 주제에 적절한 시각언어로써 캐리커처라는 양식의 정의와 표현 특성에 대해 알아보았다. 5장에서는 앞에서 고찰한 내용을 바탕으로 돈키호테 텍스트 중 가장 아이러닉한 장면을 8장면 발췌해 글과 그림의 관계를 아이러니하게 설정하며 작업하였고 6장 결론에서는 앞서 연구한 이론적 기반과 작품의 연관성에 대해 논하였다.;Illustration of today is enhancing from the illustration, which was just adding explanation to the text, to the illustration which is funtioning as the text itself. This tendency is increasing as the time of postmodern begin, which set much value on image and emotion. Illustration has the meaning of 'light up' or 'illuminate'. Then which thing does it illuminate? It is no less a person than the text. Illustration and text are in an insaperable relation. Although there is a few case when an illustration is used indipendently ,but In many case, an illustration is exsist with the words. So an illustration has very close relation with words . Illustration and word are kinds of visual codes those which have differant machanism. When these two differant codes join together ,they make not just sum total of two codes but the third meaning . Author establish the relation of two codes with intention to cumunicate some message what he want . There are variety case in relation of word and picture. they cope up with each other ,they make up for each other and sometimes they discordant . This study is concern about the third meaning caused by irony of word and picture. According to reason that irony is one of popular usage of satirical expression I deside to use the `Don quixote` ,famous satirical literature of spain ,cause I setting up to study satiric expression as a cotent of my work. Studying on relations of word and picture may improve understanding roles and funtions of illustration ,and would be a foundation of more delicate cumunication with the reader. The method of this study is to first define types of satirical expression on chapter 2. There are generally four catagories in satirical expression, allegory, parody, grotesque, irony. This study will focus on ironic expression above them. On chapter 3, this study will research about variety relation of word and picture, after the research it will focus on ironic relation with much circumstance. On chapter 4. this study will go though the definition and characteristic of Caricature as a proper expression style to satire. On chapter 5. standing on those theory which are studied above. After chosing 8 ironical situation in the `Don Quixote', I will do the works establish ironic relation between word and picture.
