대학평생교육원의 음악교육 과정 연구

Abstract

이 연구의 목적은 평생교육원의 음악관련 학위 과정과 비학위 과정을 살펴보고 연구 분석을 통해서 학위 과정이 대학과의 연계성이 있는 지 상호 관련성을 파악하는 것이다. 이론적 배경으로 평생교육의 여러 가지 개념을 알아보고, 영국과 미국, 한국의 대학평생교육의 발달 과정을 나누어 살펴보았다. 현재 각 나라에서 채택하고 있는 대학평생교육원의 제도를 알아봄으로써, 학위제·비학위제 분석의 기준을 마련하였다. 또한 음악교육프로그램 분석을 위해서 평생교육으로서의 음악교육의 발생과 형성 과정, 필요성을 알아보고, 마지막으로 대학평생교육의 대상자인 성인과 학습자로서의 특성을 알아보았다. 외국의 사례로 영국과 미국의 대학평생교육원 중 각각 2개의 기관(캠브리지대학교, 옥스퍼드대학교, 위스콘신대학교, 시카고대학교)을 선정하여 탐구함으로써 한국의 평생음악 교육기관의 발전 과제를 제시하였다. 평생교육차원에서의 음악교육의 발전방안을 모색하기 위하여 연구의 범위는 크게 학위제와 비학위제로 분리하여 조사하였으며 서울지역 대학평생교육원을 그 연구 대상으로 하였다. 그 자료로는 서울지역 대학평생교육원 69개 중 2005년도 1학기 현재 음악교육 과정이 개설된 18개 대학평생 교육기관을 선정하여, 각 기관의 홍보자료와 요람, 프로그램 안내서, 교육부의 내부자료 및 각 대학의 인터넷 홈페이지에 올려진 평생교육원, 수강생 모집요강 등을 활용하여 종합적으로 분석하는 방법을 사용하였다. 이상과 같은 내용을 토대로 분석한 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 서울지역 대학평생교육원 69개 중 음악교육 과정이 개설된 교육원의 수가 18개로 그 수가 부족하다. 둘째, 학위 과정과 비학위 과정에서 지나친 구분과 차별을 두고 있다. 이미 선진국의 대학들은 학위 과정과 비학위 과정의 장벽을 허물고 있으므로, 기본학위 과정과 평생교육 과정간의 연계를 확대해야 한다. 현재 음악교육 프로그램이 개설된 서울의 18개 대학평생교육원 중 5개교만 학위 과정이 운영되고 있다. 셋째, 대학과 대학평생교육원의 연계가 전혀 없다. 대학은 대학의 정규수업을 개방하지 않음으로써, 다른 교육기관의 수업들과 차별성이 없다. 그러므로 대학개방을 통한 고등교육 기회 확대가 필요하고 대학평생교육의 중요성이 증대하는 만큼 평생교육원이 대학에서 중심적이고 독립적인 기능과 역할을 수행할 수 있도록 해야 하며 평생교육원에서도 원격교육 체제를 도입할 필요가 있다. 이 연구에서 제시한 바와 같이 대학평생교육원은 빠르게 변하고 있는 시대에 맞추어 성인을 위한 유연성 있는 교육 체제를 갖출 수 있도록 변화해야 한다. 그리고 성인을 위한 바람직한 음악교육을 위해 정부와 대학 자체 내의 변화가 필요하며 이를 바탕으로 평생음악교육의 발전과 활성화가 이루어지기를 기대한다.;The purpose of this study is to examine the degree and non-degree courses of the music-related programs in institutions of university continuing education and to report analytic research which leads the degree program to grasp a mutual relation which has the connection of universities. As a theoretical basis of analysis in this study, the diverse concept of lifelong education is researched and the developmental process of the university continuing education of Great Britain, the United States and Korea is observed. As this study reviewed, the current system of the institutions of university continuing education adopting from each country is prepared the standard analysis of degree and non-degree programs. Also for music educational program analysis, this study reviewed the occurrence, the formative process and the necessity of the music education as a lifelong education. For the last, this study reviewed the adults who are objective persons of university continuing education and examined the quality of the learners. In instance of the foreign countries, the institutions(University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Chicago) each from two universities of Great Britain and the United States are selected and suggested developmental subject of the lifelong music educational institutions of Korea. In order to grope the developmental plan of music education from the dimension of lifelong education, the scope of this research is separated to a degree and non-degree program to investigate the institutions of university continuing education in Seoul area. The research data is selected from 18 institutions out of 69 institutions of continuing education in the universities of Seoul having music programs. The public informative data, the catalogue, the program guidebook, the inside data from ministry of Education and the internet home page of each university are analyzed to overview this study. Based on the above analysis, this study concludes as follows: 1. Only 18 institutions have the music education programs out of 69 institutions of continuing education at universities in Seoul area . 2. Extreme division of degree and non degree programs is discriminative. Currently only 5 institutions out of 18 institutions of university continuing education having the music education programs have degree programs in Seoul area. 3. Entirely there is no connection between the university and the institutions of university continuing education. The institution of university continuing education having no proper courses of the university does not make any difference from other institutions. Therefore, the chance of higher education through universities should be expanded. The institutions of continuing education is the center from the university in order to be able to accomplish an independent function. The introduction of online system in lifelong education is necessary. It is hoped that this study provides some of the basic research required to show a proper direction to establish the development and the activation of lifelong music education.
