파울 클레(Paul Klee)의 회화를 응용한 의상디자인 연구

Abstract

현대 패션의 발전과정에 있어서 디자인의 창의성에 가장 영향을 미친 것은 예술 양식으로, 각 예술 양식에 나타났던 조형상의 형태 및 색채는 패션과 밀접한 관계를 갖고 있다. 또한 패션은 인간의 내적인 미의식을 표현하는 예술의 한 분야로서 예술이 창조되는 시대의 사회적 욕구를 강하게 반영하고 있다. 이러한 시대적 상황에 부응하고자 디자이너들은 독창적인 아이디어 창출을 위해 끊임없이 노력하고 있으며, 그 방법의 하나로 조형예술과의 공감대를 형성하게 된 것이다. 본 연구의 목적은 클레 회화의 조형적 특성들을 모티브로 하여 풍부한 예술적 표현의 가능성을 제시하고 표현기법에 있어서 니들 펀치자수와의 결합으로 인한 창작영역의 확대를 모색하는데 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 파울 클레(Paul Klee, 1879～1940)의 회화세계와 그것을 통해 얻어진 예술적 사고를 의상 디자인에 확장시키고자 한다. 또한 회화적인 표현이 가능한 니들 펀치자수 기법을 펠트, 꼴라쥬, 염색기법 등의 다양한 수공예적인 표현기법과 접목시켜 연구함으로써 독특한 재질감의 표현과 조형미를 표현한 소재를 구성하였다. 연구의 내용 및 방법은 문헌고찰을 통하여 클레 회화의 형성배경과 작품세계, 회화 이미지를 응용한 의상 디자인을 살펴보았으며 또한 니들 펀치자수의 개념과 기법, 작품사례를 국내외 문헌과 사진자료를 통해서 분석하였다. 이를 토대로 클레 회화의 특징적 모티브를 재구성하여 의상에 도입한 총 8점의 작품을 제작하였다. 본 연구를 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 복식의 중요한 모티브로서 회화는 주관적인 사고와 표현방법에 따라 독특하고 창의적인 디자인 개발의 원동력으로 다양하게 활용될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 클레 회화의 선, 색채, 상징적 기호의 조형적 특성들을 의상 디자인 발상의 모티브로 사용함에 있어 특히 굵은 선의 형태미, 면 분할 구성, 기하학적인 묘사에 초점을 두고 제작함으로써 회화적인 형태미를 표현할 수 있었다. 셋째, 니들 펀치자수 기법은 원단과 원단의 결합, 원단과 양모와의 결합 등에 있어서 실을 사용하지 않고도 서로 엉켜 부착이 되도록 해주어 자연스런 꼴라쥬 방식의 풍부한 재질감과 회화적인 이미지를 표현할 수 있었다. 넷째, 클레 회화를 의상 디자인에 표현함에 있어서 니들 펀치자수 기법과 펠트, 꼴라쥬, 염색 등의 표현기법이 함께 응용되어 소재를 구성함으로써 풍부한 예술적 표현의 가능성을 제시하여 독특한 의상 디자인을 창출할 수 있었다. 다섯째, 고급스러운 이미지를 줄 수 있는 실크와 울 소재는 염색기법과 함께 응용되어 다양한 색채표현을 가능케 하였으며, 심플하고 간결한 실루엣으로 디자인함으로써 다양한 소재와 색채, 재질감을 강조할 수 있었다. 이와 같이 회화와 의상의 접목은 무한한 확장 가능성을 갖고 있기 때문에 많은 의상 디자이너들의 창작의욕을 불러일으키고 있다. 앞으로도 창작될 의상디자인에 있어 모든 시대와 지역을 넘어서 다양한 예술 작품과의 교류와 만남이 독창적인 미(美)를 창출하는 데에 있어 발전방향의 길잡이가 되었으면 한다.;The development of fashion design and especially the creativity of designs have been greatly influenced by various styles of art. The artistically applied shapes and colors in each art style have a close link to fashion. Also, fashion as a way of expressing our inner aesthetic sense becomes part of art itself and as it is created it strongly reflects the social desires of that era. Hence, fashion designers are trying endlessly to generate and to create unique and new ideas therefore as one of the ways formed a bond with formative arts. The purpose of this design is to generate the rich artistic expression by using characteristics of Klees painting as a motif and to seek at spreading the creative field and development of fashion design as art. This research is to look at the works of Paul Klee (1879-1940) and to apply his artistic minds and works to clothing designs. Also, the researcher has developed a new textile that has a distinctive texture and shape. It was done through using handicraft techniques such as felt, collage and dyeing which was combined with needle punch embroidery that is possible for pictorial expression. Empirical research was conducted to look at the formation and works of Klee, clothing designs that have used Klees images was also carefully looked at. The concept of needle punch embroidery technique and works was analyzed through literature and photo resources. In this research recreated motifs of Klees artwork was adapted to clothing design and the researcher has produced 8 pieces of work. The conclusion of this research is as mentioned below. First, paintings as motif for clothing are used diversely in creative designs depending on the subjective idea and expressions. Second, in using the line, color and symbolic signs of Klees work for clothing designs, particular emphasizes was given to shapes through thick lines, constructing division of surface and geometric patterns to add more artistic feature to clothing. Third, needle punch embroidery enables textile to combine without using thread. It uses a technique that makes textile entwine and stick together so it is perfect for expressing pictorial images and unique texture. Fourth, a new art fabric was developed by using needle punch embroidery combined with felt, collage and dyeing techniques. Hence, it was used to create a unique and artistic clothing design. Fifth, textile materials such as silk and wool, which gives a luxurious image, were adapted with dyeing so that various colors could be possible. It was designed in simple and concise silhouette so different textiles; colors and texture could be emphasized. As we have seen, the combination of art paintings and clothing has an endless potential for creation and recreation for fashion designers. Therefore, future fashion designs should be open to cross-cultural and cross-era experiments in combining artworks and fashion for creating clothing that has a unique beauty.
