하회탈의 선의 이미지를 응용한 의상디자인 연구

Abstract

21세기는 각 나라의 문화력을 중심으로 한 창조사회이며, 세계 각 국은 그 나라의 고유한 문화와 전통을 기반으로 하여 문화산업의 육성과 문화적인 국가 이미지 창출을 위해 많은 노력을 기울이고 있다. 우리나라의 국가 경쟁력 또한 전통과 문화에서 찾아볼 수 있으며, 우리는 전통적인 문화 요소를 현대적으로 발전시켜 새로운 문화를 창조해야하는 당면과제를 안고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 우리나라를 대표하는 얼굴, 하회탈에서 그 조형성과 미의식을 찾고 하회탈의 선의 이미지에 나타난 균형과 율동, 웃음의 미의식, 그리고 그 속에 내재된 민족적 정서를 디자인의 모티브로 활용하여 확대, 회전, 반복의 조형적인 재구성 과정을 거쳐 의상 디자인에 적용하고자 하였다. 또한 자연의 편안함을 추구하는 천연염색 기법으로, 소재 개발과 전통색 개발을 모색하였다. 본 연구는 독창적이고 고유한 디자인을 전개함에 있어 전통문화와 자연에서 그 아이디어와 소재를 활용하고 현대적인 조형 작업을 통해 창의적인 의상 디자인을 전개하는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구의 내용과 방법으로 하회탈의 유래와 하회탈의 종류 및 특징에 관하여 문헌 및 사진 자료와 인터넷 검색 등을 통해 알아보고, 하회탈에 나타난 조형성을 형태, 색, 선으로 나누어 분석하고 그 속에 내재된 미의식을 찾아, 웃음으로 생긴 선의 이미지를 추출하였으며, 하회탈을 응용한 디자인 사례를 살펴보았다. 또한 소재 표현에 있어서 천연염색 기법을 적용하여, 천연염색의 정의와 분류 및 천연염색의 염료와 염색 방법에 대해 문헌과 실습을 통해 알아보고 천연염색을 응용한 디자인의 사례를 살펴보았다. 본 연구를 통해 실물 작품 총 8점, 원피스와 자켓 4점, 원피스 4점을 제작 하였으며, 작품의 제작 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻을 수 있었다. 첫째, 하회탈의 선의 이미지에 나타난 균형과 율동, 웃음의 미의식, 민족적 정서를 의상 디자인에 적용하여 차별화된 디자인으로 새로운 의상 디자인의 발전 가능성을 모색할 수 있었다. 둘째, 하회탈의 선의 이미지에 나타난 웃음의 선을 확대, 회전, 반복 등의 조형적인 재구성 과정을 거쳐 현대적인 디자인으로 표현될 수 있음을 확인하였다. 셋째, 하회탈의 선의 이미지에 나타난 다양한 선들은 의상 디자인에 적용되어 면분할 하거나 장식적인 효과를 더해주어 디자인에서의 다양한 선의 활용 가능성을 확인 할 수 있었다. 넷째, 하회탈의 선의 이미지를 표현함에 있어서, 천연염색 기법을 적용하여 간결한 디자인에 깊이를 더해주었으며, 삼베와 안동포에 천연염색으로 교염하여, 삼베의 조직 사이사이에 스며든 색으로, 일반 염색에서 볼 수 없는 새로운 색채의 효과를 나타낼 수 있었다. 다섯째, 하회탈의 선의 이미지에 나타난 균형과 율동미를 입체적으로 표현함에 있어, 천연염색에서 염액에 담그는 시간과 횟수에 따라 다양하게 나온 색들을 배색하고, 바느질법에서 패치워크 기법과 아플리케 기법, 몰라 기법을 사용하여 전통문화를 표현하는 기법의 다양성을 제시할 수 있었다. 이상과 같이 본 연구는 하회탈의 선의 이미지를 의상 디자인에 적용하여 독창성과 차별성을 가진 현대적인 의상 디자인으로 표현될 수 있음을 확인 하였고, 또한 자연색과 전통색이 내재되어 있는 천연염색이 교염을 통해 색채 개발되어 고유한 디자인의 표현기법이 되어 질 수 있음을 확인 하였다. 전통문화에서 아이디어를 전개하여 디자인한 작품들이, 전통과 현대의 조화를 이루며, 국가의 디자인력을 높이고 나아가 세계를 향한 디자인 경쟁력을 가질 수 있기를 기대한다.;The 21st century is the era of creative society focused on the cultural potential of each country, and they are making every effort to develop cultural industry and create cultural national image on the basis of their unique culture and tradition. Our national competitiveness can be also found from the tradition and culture, and the problem with which our country is confronted is to create new culture by developing our traditional cultural elements into modern ones. With the aforesaid background, this study attempted to find out the formative value and aesthetic sense of our representative face, Ha-hoe Mask, and apply the formative balance and rhythmic movement, the aesthetic sense of its smiles, and the immanent national emotion which are shown in the image of its lines to fashion design through a series of formative recomposition - expansion, rotation and repetition - by using them as motif of a design. This study was attempted to develop material and traditional color by means of natural dyeing to pursuit natural comfort. The purpose of this study is to utilize ideas and materials from traditional culture and nature and unfold creative fashion design through modern forming work in terms of developing a fertile and unique design. Regarding content and method of this study, the origin, kind and characteristics of Hahae Mask were investigated through literature and photos and on Internet, its formative value was analyzed into type, color and line, the immanent aesthetic sense was found, an image of the lines created by its smiles was extracted, and the exemplary design applications of Ha-hoe Mask were examined. Besides, natural dyeing was applied in material expression, both literature review as well as practice were conducted on the definition, classification, dye and how to dye of natural dyeing, and the exemplary design applications of natural dyeing were examined. During this study, total eight pieces of works composed of 4 jackets and 4 one-piece dresses were produced, and then the following results were obtained: First, the potential of development of a new fashion design as differentiated design could be found by applying the balance and rhythmic movement, the aesthetic sense of its smiles and the national emotion which were shown from the image of the lines of Ha-hoe Mask to fashion design. Second, he lines of smiles shown in Ha-hoe Mask could be expressed into modern design through a series of formative recomposition - expansion, rotation and repetition. Third, a variety of lines shown from the image of the lines of Ha-hoe Mask were applied to fashion design, dividing the sides or adding decorative effect, so their availability could be found in design. Fourth, in expressing the image of the lines of Ha-hoe Mask, natural dyeing was adopted to highlight the simple design and display an effect of new colors that could be hardly seen from general dyeing with the colors permeated among the textures of hemp by the tie dyeing of hemp and Andongpo. Fifth, in expressing the balance and the beauty of rhythmic movement shown in the image of the lines of Ha-hoe Mask on a three-dimensional basis, the variety of how to express traditional culture could be suggested by matching the varied colors taken depending upon the hours of soaking into dye solution and the number of times in natural dyeing and adopting patchwork, applique and mola among the sewing techniques. As the above mentioned, it was found that the applied image of the lines of Ha-hoe Mask to fashion design could be expressed in a creative and differentiated modern fashion design in this study. It was found that new colors could be developed from natural dyeing containing both natural colors and traditional colors through tie dyeing into a unique design expression, as well. It is expected that the works whose ideas were developed from traditional culture for design would hold harmonization between tradition and modern times, promote the design potential of our country and further have global design competitiveness.
