전각인면의 이미지를 응용한 의상 디자인 연구

Abstract

The typographic aesthetic sense that appeared at the seal engraving plays a meaningful role on the modern figurative art of fashion and its ornaments. Such interaction communicates with various kinds of contemporary arts, and it motivates the fashion design field to apply the figurative characteristics for innovative design ideas. Since it is a one-dimensional method to apply only the motive of seal engraving, a three-dimensional method should be utilized by understanding the figurative features of calligraphic style and then selecting materials and techniques in order to endow the extraordinary impressions that can satisfy the artistic value. Seal engraving is an integrated art based on the combination of characters and engraving, and it is regarded as the highest level of oriental art, expressing the inner- artistic vision with multiformity demonstrated at a minuscule space. Actually the history of seal engraving is longer than that of calligraphy. However, it has been maintained by only a few calligraphers as it is not an art whose sake is to display. The purpose of this study is to help ordinary people understand seal engraving art by reestimating its artistic value and deducing general comprehension by giving recognition through one of the essential life factors; fashion. Another intension is to contribute to the completion of an independent work of art by representing spiritual aspects and aesthetic senses of artist through fashion in a figurative way. The body of this paper examines the subdivision of Korean and Chinese seal engraving history and the analysis of the expression styles and figurative features. Finally, this paper examines a wide range of expressing methods and their effectiveness in the field of fashion design by collecting and investigating diverse documents and recent photos. The core of this study is to sublime the aesthetic sense and highly added values of the fashion in the way of figurative concept, and enormous efforts have been made to express pictorial features and figurative beauty of the seal engraving through production of artistic works. Total 8 pieces of artworks were created during this study and its conclusion is as follows. Fist of all, the most important thing for natural expression is to establish a firm self ideology about numerous components consisting of the natural figurative beauty and the concepts of expression techniques. I have constructed artworks at an empty space by composing things like natural ones to achieve harmony and unification so that I can apply the novel figurative attractiveness of seal engraving to fashion, and it was obvious that such fashion design is an important factor as intermediate media transporting conception of the natural beauty for human being. Secondly, the seal engraving creates a new space of beauty beyond practical use as a seal by harmonizing the pictorial features with figurative characteristics and applying this to fashion. Thirdly, various techniques such as burn-out, silk screen and hand embroidery method were applied to express the unique figurative features of typography as well as different types of materials to assimilate seal engraving. Finally, it is expected to acquire a high estimation of figuration of fashion through such works based on the ideology that it is feasible to heighten artistic expression of modern fashion and create high added values by producing fashion clothes with handicraft techniques. Through this study, I was able to the unlimited possibility of the seal engraving and I believe we live in the age which demands productivity, economic efficiency and artistic characteristics that go beyond just an aesthetic sense. I also hope to see a wide range of researches undertake to enhance value added fashion industry so that the Korean culture that contains the essential Korean aesthetic sense can become more competitive in the world.;21세기에는 다양한 문화에 대한 관심과 더불어 전통을 예술로 계승시키려는 인식이 활발히 엿보이는 시기이다. 의상은 각국의 문화유산을 이용하여 그의 예술성을 부각시켜 세계화하는데 적합한 상징적 양식으로 뽑을 수 있으며, 그 나라 그 시대의 문화적 배경을 통한 사상과 미의식을 반영할 수도 있다. 또한, 복식디자인은 기능적, 구조적, 장식적인 면을 중시하며 이러한 특징들을 적절히 조화시켜 독창적인 면을 표현함과 동시에 우리 민족 고유의 전통미를 자랑하며, 더 나아가 앞으로는 글로벌 시대에 발맞추어 현대적인 감각과 개성을 표현한 새로운 예술 창조적 개념의도입이 필요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 이론적 배경을 통해 전각에 대해 조사하고, 우리의 자산인 전각을 살려 우리 민족 고유의 전통미를 되찾아 현대적 감각의 패션을 통한 조형적 미적 감각을 개발하여 표현하고, 그 차별화된 한국 패션을 세계에 널리알리고자 한다. 또한, 전각인면 이미지의 특성을 살려 현대적인 의상디자인을 창출함에 초점을 맞추었다. 우리 동양미술에 늘 함께하는 전각에 반영된 미의식을 조형적 특성인 형태, 문양, 색채, 기법 등으로 분류하여 분석하며, 전각을 통한 한국의 미가 표현된 현대 의상 디자인을 문헌 및 사진 자료를 통하여 분석 연구함으로써 그 조형적 특성을 파악하고, 보다 정확한 접근을 위해 작품을 통한 현대 디자인에 있어서활용의 예를 구분해 살펴보았다. 이를 토대로 하여 전각의 조형성을 이용한 총 8점의 작품을 제작하였으며, 이를 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 전각은 그 특성을 이용하여 의상에 무한한 이미지를 표현가능하게 하며, 다양한 기법을 통한 우연의 선의 표현으로 유출된 선의 특징 중 유동적이고 불규칙적, 비대칭적인 곡선을 표현하는 선의 흐름을 적절히 표현해냄으로써 현대적 모티브로 적절히 활용되며 의상의 예술성을 한층 더 높여준다. 둘째, 전각에서 보여지는 다양한 융선을 장식적인 측면으로써 보아 활용범위를 넓히고, 과장, 축소, 변화 그리고 재조합 등의 조형원리를 이용하여 형태로 분류함으로써 의상에 도입시키는데 이는 새로운 미적 공간으로 창출되어진다. 셋째, 전각은 조형적 요소인 선, 형태 그리고 재질의 조화로 이루어지며 현대의상에서 무한한 가능성을 표현하기 위해 인면의 이미지를 자수, 번아웃, 실크스크린, 비딩의 기법을 적절히 사용하였고, 전각을 현대사회가 요구하는 독특한 개성을 가진 이미지를 나타내는데 적합하도록 실크와 레이온이 혼합된 실크소재에 번아웃 기법을 사용하여 서각의 음각과 양각을 표현하였고, 벨벳소재의 실의 두께로 인해 입체감, 볼륨감을 보여주었다. 넷째, 전각예술의 핵심인 적백의 공간이 만들어내는 변화와 조화를 기준으로 종이위에 찍혔을때 나타나는 문자와 바닥의 상호균형이 상존하면서 서로 보완하여 최대한의 미적 효과를 얻게 되는데, 이를 응용하여 공간을 재배치하고 인장의 적색 이외에 2차색, 3차색을 사용하되 황금색을 주조로 하여 한국적인 세련미를 표현할 수 있었다. 더불어 전각의 조형미를 표현하기 위하여 다양한 소재들과 기법을 사용하였으며 이것이 세계화속에 개개인의 개성을 표현하려는욕구에 부응하며 더 새롭고 독창적인 디자인을 전개할 수 있었다. 이상과 같이 본 연구자는 전각의 조형미를 표현하는데 있어서 전각의 미적 특징을 색채, 문양, 형태의 아름다운 조화를 예술 영역의 한 부분으로 계승시키려는 의식을 가지고 의상과 인간의 혼, 그리고 인간에 중점을 두었으며, 기능성과 독창성을 살려 국제화를 향한 한국의 미의식을 표출하는데 있어서 예술의 조형적 특성을 제시하기도 하였고, 미래의 발전 가능성을 기대하는데 효과적인 매개체가 될 수 있을 것이다.
