Abstract

본 연구는 코른골트의 생애와 음악적 성향을 탐구하고, 그의 작품 중 하나인“Much Ado About Nothing”suite for Violin and Piano, Op. 11을 중심으로 그의 음악적 특징과 기여를 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 코른골트는 유럽과 헐리우드에서 다양한 음악적 성과를 이루었으며, 그의 음악은 감정과 분위기를 강화하기 위해 불협화음과 급진적인 전조, 복조성, 대리화음이 특징이다. 코른골트의 음악적 업적은 후기 낭만주의와 현대주의의 교차점에서 탄생한 독특한 음악적 성향을 보여준다. 그의 영화 음악은 현대 영화 음악의 발전에 중요한 기여를 했으며, 현재까지도 많은 영화 음악 작곡가들에게 영향을 미치고, 그의 작품은 영화 음악의 역사에서 중요한 위치를 차지한다. 본 연구는 문헌 연구와 음악 분석을 중심으로 진행된다. 논문은 먼저 코른골트의 생애와 음악적 성향을 정리한 다음, “Much Ado About Nothing”suite for Violin and Piano, Op. 11의 각 악장을 분석하여 코른골트의 작곡 기법과 음악적 특징을 도출한다. 이를 통해 코른골트의 작품이 지닌 음악적 가치를 재조명하고, 그의 음악이 현대 음악에 미친 영향을 고찰한다. 본 연구를 통해 에리히 볼프강 코른골트의 음악적 업적과 그의 작품들이 지닌 예술적 가치를 더욱 깊이 이해할 수 있었다. 코른골트의 음악적 접근 방식은 오늘날에도 많은 음악가에게 영감을 주며, 그의 유산이 지속적으로 이어질 수 있는 방안을 모색하였다. 코른골트의“Much Ado About Nothing”suite for Violin and Piano, Op. 11은 후기 낭만주의적 감성과 현대적 요소가 결합된 독창적인 작품으로, 그의 음악적 성향과 뛰어난 작곡 기술을 잘 보여준다.;This study explores the life and musical tendencies of Erich Wolfgang Korngold, focusing on his work, "Much Ado About Nothing" Suite for Violin and Piano, Op. 11, to analyze his musical characteristics and contributions. Korngold achieved significant musical accomplishments in both Europe and Hollywood. His music is characterized by the use of dissonance, radical modulations, polytonality, and substitute chords to enhance emotion and atmosphere. Korngold's musical achievements demonstrate a unique musical tendency born at the intersection of late Romanticism and Modernism. His film scores have significantly contributed to the development of contemporary film music, influencing many film music composers and holding a crucial position in the history of film music. This study is conducted through literature review and musical analysis. The paper first summarizes Korngold's life and musical tendencies, then analyzes each movement of "Much Ado About Nothing" Suite for Violin and Piano, Op. 11, to derive Korngold's compositional techniques and musical characteristics. Through this analysis, the study reevaluates the musical value of Korngold's works and examines the influence of his music on contemporary music. Through this research, a deeper understanding of Korngold's musical achievements and the artistic value of his works has been attained. Korngold's musical approach continues to inspire many musicians today, and this study seeks ways to perpetuate his legacy. The "Much Ado About Nothing" Suite for Violin and Piano, Op. 11, stands as a unique work that combines late Romantic sensibilities with modern elements, showcasing Korngold's musical tendencies and exceptional compositional skills.
