대학생의 부모화와 공동의존성이 대인관계문제에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구는 대학생을 대상으로 부모화와 대인관계문제의 관계에서 공동의존성과 자기분화의 조절된 매개효과가 미치는 영향을 확인함으로써 대학생의 다양한 부모화 경험과 대인관계문제에 대한 이해를 넓히고 이에 대한 상담적 접근을 모색하고자 조절된 매개모형을 설정하였다. 만 18세 이상 29세 이하 국내 대학생을 대상으로 자료를 수집하였고, 연구의 주요 변인인 부모화, 대인관계문제, 자기분화, 공동의존성을 측정하는 네 가지 척도를 사용하여 온라인 자기보고식 설문을 실시하였다. 총 400명이 설문에 응답하였으나 설문에 끝까지 성실하게 응답하지 않은 표본(무작위 응답, 소요시간 4분 이하로 작성된 무성의한 응답)은 제외하여 최종적으로 338명의 설문 응답이 SPSS 23.0과 PROCESS Macro v4.2를 통해 분석되었다. SPSS 23.0을 사용하여 빈도분석, 기술통계 분석, 상관분석을 실시하였고 SPSS PROCESS Macro v4.2를 이용하여 연구모형을 검증하였다.본 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대학생의 부모화 경험은 대인관계문제에 정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 즉, 부모화 경험은 대인관계문제의 유의한 예측 요인으로 나타났으며, 부모화 경험 수준이 높을수록 대인관계문제가 증가했다. 둘째, 공동의존성은 대학생의 부모화 경험과 대인관계문제의 관계를 매개하였다. 부모화 경험이 공동의존성으로 이어지는 직접 경로가 정적으로 유의하였으며 공동의존성이 대인관계문제로 이어지는 직접 경로도 정적으로 유의하였다. 셋째, 대학생의 부모화 경험이 공동의존성을 거쳐 대인관계문제로 가는 경로에서 자기분화의 조절된 매개효과를 확인하였다. 즉 부모화 경험 수준이 낮거나 높은 경우 모두 자기분화 고집단은 저집단에 비해 공동의존성이 낮게 나타났다. 또한 자기분화 저집단은 자기분화 고집단에 비해 부모화와 공동의존성 간의 관계가 더 강하게 나타났다. 본 연구는 대학생의 성장기 부모화 경험, 대인관계문제, 공동의존성, 자기분화의 관계를 살펴봄으로써 부모화의 장기적인 결과에 대한 경험적 근거를 제시하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 또한 공동의존성에 대한 선행연구가 주로 질적 연구로 이루어져 있어 일반화의 어려움이 있는데, 부모화와 대인관계문제의 관계에서 공동의존성이 미치는 영향을 살펴봄으로써 공동의존성에 대한 인식과 이해를 높이고 대학생이 대인관계에서 겪는 어려움을 해결하는 데 도움을 제공한다. 마지막으로, 부모화 경험과 공동의존성, 대인관계문제의 관계에서 자기분화가 어떠한 영향을 주는지 실증적으로 입증함으로써 부모화된 자녀의 대인관계문제를 해결하고 적응을 높이기 위해 자기분화 수준을 높이는 방안을 도모하는 것이 필요하다는 중요한 통찰을 제공한다.;This study was conducted to explore the impact of the moderated mediation effects of codependency and self-differentiation on the relationship between parentification and interpersonal problems among university students. By doing so, it aims to broaden the understanding of various parentification experiences and interpersonal issues in university students and seek counseling approaches for these issues. Data were collected from university students aged 18 to 29 in South Korea. An online self-report survey was conducted using four scales measuring the main variables of the study: parentification, interpersonal problems, self-differentiation, and codependency. A total of 400 students responded to the survey, but samples that did not respond diligently to the end (random responses, insincere responses completed in less than 4 minutes) were excluded, leaving a final sample of 338 responses, which were analyzed using SPSS 23.0 and PROCESS Macro v4.2. Frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, and correlation analysis were conducted using SPSS 23.0, and the research model was tested using SPSS PROCESS Macro v4.2. The main results of this study are as follows: First, the experience of parentification among university students had a positive impact on interpersonal problems. In other words, parentification experiences were significant predictors of interpersonal problems, and higher levels of parentification experiences led to an increase in interpersonal problems. Second, codependency mediated the relationship between parentification experiences and interpersonal problems in university students. The direct path from parentification experiences to codependency was positively significant, as was the direct path from codependency to interpersonal problems. Third, the moderated mediation effect of self-differentiation in the path from parentification experiences through codependency to interpersonal problems was confirmed. In both cases of low and high levels of parentification experiences, the high self-differentiation group showed lower levels of codependency compared to the low self-differentiation group. Furthermore, the relationship between parentification and codependency was stronger in the low self-differentiation group compared to the high self-differentiation group. This study is significant as it provides empirical evidence of the long-term consequences of parentification by examining the relationships between parentification experiences during the growth period of university students, interpersonal problems, codependency, and self-differentiation. Additionally, given that previous research on codependency has mostly been qualitative, making generalization difficult, this study enhances the understanding and awareness of codependency by examining its impact on the relationship between parentification and interpersonal problems, thereby helping to address the difficulties university students face in their interpersonal relationships. Finally, by empirically demonstrating the impact of self-differentiation on the relationships among parentification experiences, codependency, and interpersonal problems, this study provides important insights into the need to promote higher levels of self-differentiation to solve interpersonal problems and enhance the adaptation of children who have experienced parentification.
