상담자의 소명의식이 이타행동과 사회정의 옹호역량에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 상담자의 소명의식이 이타행동과 사회정의 옹호역량에 미치는 영향에서 사회적 책임감과 사회적 유대감의 매개효과를 확인하는 것이다. 상담자의 소명의식은 상담자에게 현실적인 어려움과 좌절에도 제 역할을 충실히 할 수 있도록 조력 전문가로서의 정체성을 확립하게 하고, 나아가 사회 변화와 발전에 보탬이 되도록 전문성을 발달시키게 하는 중요한 자질로 알려져 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 상담자의 소명의식이 상담자 역할 수행에 있어 개인적 그리고 사회적으로 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 살펴보고, 그 과정에서 도움이 되는 특성이 무엇인지 밝힘으로써 소명의식의 중요성을 강조하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 상담 자격증을 소지하고 있으며 상담 경력이 3년 이상인 상담자를 대상으로 하였다. 총 278명을 대상으로 소명의식, 이타행동, 사회정의 옹호역량, 사회적 책임감, 사회적 유대감을 측정하는 척도를 사용하여 온라인으로 설문조사를 진행하였다. 수집된 자료에 대해 SPSS 29.0을 이용하여 기술통계와 상관분석을 실시하였고, Mplus 8.0을 이용하여 측정모형과 구조모형을 차례로 검증한 뒤 매개효과의 유의성을 검증하였다. 본 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 상담자의 소명의식은 이타행동을 정적으로 예측하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 상담자의 소명의식은 사회정의 옹호역량을 정적으로 예측하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 상담자의 소명의식과 이타행동의 관계를 사회적 책임감과 사회적 유대감이 각각 매개하였다. 넷째, 상담자의 소명의식과 사회정의 옹호역량의 관계를 사회적 책임감은 완전매개하였으나, 사회적 유대감은 매개하지 않았다. 이와 같은 연구 결과는 소명의식이 높은 상담자일수록 사회적 책임감이 커 이타행동에 긍정적이며 사회정의 옹호에도 활발하다는 것을 의미한다. 또한 소명의식이 높은 상담자일수록 사회적 유대감이 강해 이타행동을 적극적으로 하게 된다는 것을 뜻한다. 본 연구는 오늘날 상담자들이 상담실 안팎에서 어떠한 역할로 자리매김하고 있는지를 조명했다는 데 의의가 있다. 또한 상담자들에게 최근 떠오르는 사회정의 옹호상담의 흐름에 따라 상담자 역할 확장의 필요성과 그에 필요한 역량을 갖추는 것의 중요성을 알렸다는 데 의의가 있다.;The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating effect of social responsibility and social connectedness on the effect of counselors' sense of calling on their altruistic behavior and social justice advocacy competence. It is recognized that counselors' sense of calling is an important quality that enables counselors to establish their identity as helping professionals in order to fulfill their roles in the face of practical difficulties and setbacks, and to develop their professionalism to contribute to social change and development. Therefore, this study aimed to highlight the importance of counselors' sense of calling by examining how their sense of calling affects them personally and socially in performing their role as counselors, and by identifying characteristics that help them in this process. This study focused on counselors who were licensed and had at least three years of counseling experience. A total of 278 participants were surveyed online using a scale measuring sense of calling, altruistic behavior, social justice advocacy competence, social responsibility, and social connectedness. The collected data were subjected to descriptive statistics and correlation analysis using SPSS 29.0, and the measurement model and structural model were tested using Mplus 8.0 to verify the significance of the mediating effect. The key findings of this study are as follows: First, counselors' sense of calling statically predicted altruistic behavior. Second, counselors' sense of calling did not statically predict social justice advocacy competence. Third, social responsibility and social connectedness mediated the relationship between counselors' sense of calling and altruistic behavior, respectively. Fourth, social responsibility completely mediated the relationship between counselors' sense of calling and social justice advocacy competence, but social connectedness did not. These findings suggest that counselors who have a high sense of calling are more socially responsible and therefore more likely to engage in altruistic behavior and advocate for social justice. It also suggests that counselors who have a high sense of calling are more likely to have stronger social ties and are more likely to engage in altruistic behavior. The significance of this study is that it sheds light on the role of counselors today, both inside and outside of the counseling room. It is also important for counselors to be aware of the need to expand their role and the importance of having the necessary competencies to do so in line with the emerging trend of social justice advocacy counseling.
