위로와 치유의 자연 이야기

Abstract

자연은 인간이 등장하기 이전부터 언제나 그 자리를 지켜왔다. 그리고 인간이 등장한 이후에는 인류의 역사와 함께 하며 사람들의 오랜 관심사가 되어 왔다. 자연을 향한 관심은 인간이 인위적으로 만들어 내기 힘든 광활한 힘에서 비롯된 듯 하다. 특히, 산이나 강, 흙이나 풀 등의 풍경을 이루는 요소들은 인간의 손길이 닿지 않은 큰 형상부터, 티끌만큼이나 작은 질감까지 그 자체로 저마다 아름다움 을 지니고 있다. 또한 광대한 대지가 주는 형상적 측면과 구도에 있어서의 아름다움도 있지만, 자연 본연이 가지고 있는 색이 주는 아름다움도 충분히 존재한다. 이에 본 연구는 인간과 가장 친숙한 자연의 이미지를 예술적 관점에서 접근하며 아름답게 표현한 자연 이미지를 본인만의 개성이 담긴 색감을 사용하여 평면 이 미지에 구현한다. 그 이유는 본인이 해석한 사랑의 여러 따듯한 측면과 평안과 같 은 감정을 자연이 가진 이미지와 색감에서 찾았음에 있다. 본인은 이러한 자연의 아름다움을 사랑의 위로와 치유의 측면과 연결하여 시각 예술로써 화면에 구현해 내고자 한다. 이는 자연을 이용한 색감의 표현 영역을 확대하고 예술적인 가치를 부여함과 더불어 감상자들도 같은 심상을 공감하게 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 본인은 평면 회화 이미지에 자연 풍경에서 느껴지는 대지의 안락함과 평안함을 담아 내기 위해 몇 가지 개인적인 해석과 표현 기법을 사용했다. 첫 번째로 본인이 사용한 표현 기법은 자연을 그대로 구현해 내는 것보다는, 구상과 추상의 경계에서 이미지를 모호하게 표현한다. 두 가지의 방향을 병행함에 있어서 구상적인 면과 추상적인 면의 정도의 차이로 구분되는 면이 있긴 하지만, 완전히 한 가지의 방향으로 치우친 작업물은 본 연구에서 찾아보기 드물다. 이는 본인이 자연 풍경 으로부터 받은 영감과 기억의 분위기를 최대한으로 끌어들여 평면 이미지에 담고 자 하기 때문이다. 본인이 해석한 사랑의 감성적인 느낌과 자연 풍경이 가진 공통 점을 표현하기에 어느 정도 이상의 구체성은 오히려 이런 심상을 감상자들에게 전달하는 데에 방해가 된다고 여기며, 또 어느 정도 이상의 추상성은 본인이 전달 하고자 하는 분위기 그 이상의 해석이 나올 수 있기 때문이다. 이처럼 본 연구는 회화적 표현을 통해인간이삶속에서접하는자연의이미지와내적감정의조화 속에서 이루어진 작품을 구현해 나가는 연구이다. 또한 본인은 작품을 표현할 때 주로 가로로 긴 화면 안에 따듯한 난색 계열의 색감과 반짝이는 표현 효과를 사 용하여 평면 이미지를 만들어 나간다. 사랑이 가진 따듯한 측면과 위로와 안위를 회화 이미지를 통해 감상자들에게 전달하기 위해서는 가로로 긴 화면이 주는 안 정감이 필요하다고 생각했다. 또한 화면 안에 풍경을 실제와 유사한 색감이 아닌, 본인이 경험하고 느낀 감정을 본인의 시각에서 표현한다. 특히 색감이 인간에게 주는 심리적 영향에 집중하여 난색 계열 위주의 색감으로 그림의 분위기를 형성 한다. 여기에 더해 본인은 한지를 이용한 한국화 이지만, 회화의 보다 실감나는 표현을 위해 입체적으로 올라오는 질감 효과를 더해 회화의 생동감을 더했다. 동 양화의 평면적인 회화 형식에서 경미하게 올라온 입자들이 작품의 깊이와 무게감 을 더해준다. 이처럼 본인의 연구는 추상적인 의미의 위로와 치유라는 사랑의 개념을 실재하 는 풍경을 통해 의미화 시키는 창작 작업이며, 작품 안에서 내재하는 의미를 가지고 회화의 자율성을 추구한다는 과제를 필요로 하게 된다. 이러한 자율성의 추구 는 표현 영역의 확장을 통하여 본인의 선택이나 행위로 그 방법의 범위가 확대되 어졌다. 또한 자연의 이미지는 아름다운 예술적인 가치를 지니고 있으며 이를 다 양한 시각적 표현의 모티브로의 활용 가능성을 지니고 있음을 확인 할 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문은 본인이 느낀 사랑의 따듯한 감성을 여러 색감을 사용해 자연 풍경에 그려내며, 지속적인 회화 실험을 통해 본인이 보다 발전된 회화 언어를 습득하게 되는 과정에 대한 연구라고 할 수 있다.;Even before the advent of humans, nature has always been here. Nature has been a long- standing interest of people throughout human history. The fascination with nature seems to stem from its power that is unfathomably vast, which is difficult for humans to artificially create. In particular, the elements that make up the landscape, such as mountains, rivers, soil, and grass, have their own senses of beauty from enormously large shapes yet untouched by humans to tiny textures as small as dust. In addition to these geometrical and compositional beauties from the vastness of the land, there is also the beauty that is present in the colors of the nature. This study examines the familiar images of nature from an artistic point of view and expresses the beautiful elements of nature into flat images using the colors of the author’s own personality. From the images and colors of nature, many warm aspects of love, along with feelings of comfort, peace, and solace, can be discovered by author’s own interpretation.Therefore, the author connects the beauty of nature to the comforting and healing aspects of love and brings it to the canvas as visual art. The main purpose of this study is to expand the range of expressions of colors using nature, to give them their proper artistic values, and to make viewers empathize with the author. The author has used several personal interpretations and expressive techniques to capture the comfort and peacefulness of a natural landscape in flat painting images. Firstly, the expressive technique used by the author is not a direct representation of nature, but rather an ambiguous representation of the image on the border of figurative and abstract style. Although the degree of using figurative and abstract styles varies with each work, it is rare to find works that are completely biased in one direction from this study. The reason for this is the author’s intention to capture the moods of inspiration and memories received from natural landscapes as much as possible in the canvases. To express the emotional feelings of love and the commonalities of natural landscapes as interpreted by the author, an overly detailed description would hinder ability to convey these feelings to the viewer, while an excessive degree of abstraction would lead to interpretations beyond the mood the author wants to convey. In such a manner, this research is a study to realize a work that is made in harmony with the images of nature and inner feelings that humans encounter in their lives through pictorial expression. Furthermore, the author mainly uses warm color palette and shiny expression effects in a horizontally long canvas to create a flat image. In order to convey the warmth, comfort, and security of love to the viewer through the image of a painting, the sense of security provided by a long horizontal screen was considered necessary. Moreover, the author expresses the emotions experienced and felt from the author’s own perspective, rather than using colors that are similar to the actual scenery on the canvas. In particular, the author focuses on the psychological effects of color on humans and uses colors that are mainly in the reddish-orange range to form the atmosphere of the painting. In addition, although the paintings in this study are Korean paintings using hanji, the author adds a texture effect that gives a three-dimensional sense to the paintings and makes them more realistic. The slightly protruded particles in the flat painting format of oriental paintings add depth and weight to the work. As such, this research is a collection of creative works that translates the abstract concept of love as comfort and healing into visible representations through actual landscapes. The finished works required the task of pursuing the autonomy of painting through the meanings inherent in the work. This pursuit of autonomy has expanded the range of expression methods through the author’s own choices and actions. Finally, it can be confirmed that images of nature have beautiful artistic values and the possibility of utilizing them as motifs for various visual expressions. In summary, this thesis encompasses a whole process of acquiring a more advanced pictorial language through continuous painting experiments by portraying the warm emotions of love the author felt in natural landscapes with various colors.
