Gabriel Fauré 《Sonata for Violin and Piano No.1 in A Major, Op. 13》에 대한 연구 및 분석

Abstract

본 논문은 본인의 석사과정 이수를 위한 졸업연주회 프로그램 중 한 곡인 가브리엘 포레(Gabriel Urban Fauré, 1845-1924)의 <Sonata for Violin and Piano No.1 in A Major, Op. 13>, (이하 <포레의 바이올린과 피아노를 위한 소나타>)를 중심으로 한 연구 및 분석이다. 19세기 음악가 가브리엘 포레는 프랑스의 대표적인 작곡가이다. 그가 활동하던 시기는 보불 전쟁의 패배로 인해 프랑스는 불안한 정세를 겪고 있었는데 그 영향이 음악에도 끼치자 그는 카미유 생상스(Camille Saint Saëns, 1835-1921), 세자르 프랑크(César-Auguste Jean-Guillaume Hubert Franck, 1802-1890)와 함께 프랑스 음악을 부흥시키자는 뜻에서 1871년 국민음악협회(Societe National de Musique)의 창설 회원으로 활동한다. 그가 협회 활동 시기에 작곡한 작품들은 성악 음악을 타락한 음악이라고 생각한 프랑스의 시대적 경향에 따라 실내악과 기악 음악 발전에 중점을 두고 이 안에서도 대형 편성인 교향곡이 아닌 보다 작은 편성인 소나타(Sonata)나 콘체르토(Concerto) 형식의 작곡에 힘쓰게 된다. 포레가 국민음악협회에서 활동 계기로 기악 음악 발전에 힘을 실은 대표적인 기악 작품인 <Sonata for Violin and Piano No.1 in A Major, Op. 13>는 1876년에 작곡한 실내악 곡으로 소나타형식으로써 총 4악장으로 구성되었다. 포레의 음악적 특징 시기3기 중 1기에 해당하는 이 작품은 포레만의 음악 어법인 대위법에 입각한 선법의 사용, 반음계 진행, 지속음 등을 사용하여 통일성을 주며 음악을 구사하였다. 또 그가 창설 단원으로 있던 국민음악협회에서 초연되었으며 그가 첫 시도한 기악 작품이라는 것에 큰 의의가 있다. ;This Study examines the life of Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924) and his first violin sonata, Violin Sonata No. 1, Op. 13. Fauré, a prominent French composer in the 19th century, played a significant role in the development of modern music. During the 19th century, France established the National Music Association after the Franco-Prussian War, aiming to revive French music and culture. As one of its founding members, Fauré made notable contributions to French instrumental music. G. Fauré's music employed original composition techniques within a classical framework, resulting in elegant and sophisticated compositions. <Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 1 in A Major, Op. 13> consists of four movements: the 1st movement in Sonata form, the 2nd movement in Sonatine form, the 3rd movement in Ternary form, and the 4th movement in Sonata Rondo form. The piece incorporates church modes, counterpoint scales, and Fauré's characteristic elements such as complex rhythms, rich harmonies, and melodic progression. This instrumental work holds great significance for Fauré as it marked his recognition as a composer rather than solely an organist. This study aims to gain a deeper understanding of 19th-century French music and expects to explore Fauré's life and compositions in greater detail, which will greatly benefit the performance of his works.
