Abstract

본 논문은 필자의 석사과정 이수를 위한 리사이틀 프로그램 중 뿔랑(Francis Poulenc, 1899-1963)의 가곡집 《La courte paille, FP. 178(짧은 지푸라기)》(1960)의 전 곡을 분석 연구한 것이다. 뿔랑은 20세기 프랑스를 대표하는 작곡가 중 한 명으로, 예술가곡, 피아노 독주곡, 실내악, 미사, 오페라, 협주곡, 발레 음악, 영화음악 등 다양한 장르에서 뛰어난 작품을 완성하였다. 그는 대중적 양식에 매력적인 화성법, 유려하고 표현력 있는 선율, 풍자적 모방을 통해 우아하고 재치 있는 작품을 완성하였는데, 이러한 그의 음악 특징은 《La courte paille, FP. 178》에서 잘 나타난다. 이에 본 논문은 뿔랑의 생애와 그의 예술가곡의 특징을 살펴본 후 그의 가곡집 《La courte paille, FP. 178》을 시에 따른 선율의 표현 및 화성, 반주음형, 음악적 표현과 연주법, 나타냄말 같은 음악 요소들의 특징을 분석하였다. 그 결과 다양한 화성적 장치들, 반복되는 짧은 성악 선율, 잦은 변박과 다양한 음형들을 통해서 시의 내용과 시어의 뉘앙스, 강세, 감정 등을 표현한 것을 볼 수 있었다. 반주부는 시와 음악의 분위기를 제시하고, 풍부한 화성과 다양한 리듬 등으로 가사의 의미와 성악부를 강화했다. 곡마다 반음계적 화음, 전조, 부가음을 통한 음색 효과가 두드러지게 나타났다. 이 밖에도 시어에 맞는 적절한 어법과 뉘앙스를 표현하기 위하여 다양한 지시어, 빠르기, 셈여림, 페달기법을 사용하였다. 따라서 시의 형식이나 내용에 맞춰 음악적 형식, 선율, 화성, 반주음형 등 모든 음악 요소가 결정되는 경향을 보였다. 이러한 특징들로 인해 뿔랑의 예술가곡은 시인의 목소리와 시적 언어를 명확하게 표현한 작품임을 확인할 수 있었다. ;This paper is a study on 《La courte paille, FP 178》 by F. Poulenc (1899 -1963), which was performed at the graduate recital for the master's degree. Poulenc is one of the leading French composers of the 20th century, and has completed outstanding works in various genres, including Mélodie, Piano work, Chamber music, Mass, Opera, Concerto, Ballet music, and Film music. He created an elegant and witty work, combining a popular style with charming harmony structure, fluent and expressive melodies, and satirical imitation. These characteristics of his music are most evident in his mélodie like 《La courte paille, FP 178》. Therefore, this paper examined Poulenc's life and the characteristics of his mélodie, and analyzed 《La courte paille, FP 178》 for the characteristics of musical elements such as expression and harmony of melody, accompaniment pattern, expression marks and performance technique according to poems. As a result, it was possible to see that the nuance, stress, and emotion of the poetic language to be emphasized were expressed through various harmonic devices, repeated short vocal melodies, irregular time, and various figure patterns. The accompaniment part presented the atmosphere of poetry and music, and strengthened the meaning of the lyrics and the vocal part with rich harmony and various rhythms. Also, in the accompaniment part, the timbre effect through chromatic chords, modulation, and additional sounds was prominently displayed in each song. In addition, it was used various expression marks, tempo marks, dynamics, and pedaling techniques to express appropriate language and nuances suitable for poetic words. Therefore, it tended to determine all musical elements such as musical form, melody, harmony, and accompaniment type according to the form or content of the poem. Due to these characteristics, it was confirmed that Poulenc's art song was a work that clearly expressed the poet's voice and poetic language.
