Abstract

This study aims to analyze the works of Franz Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) and Manuel de Falla (1876-1946) from the author’s graduation recital program for the completion of the master's course. Haydn is a composer representing the classical era. In classical church music, Haydn's works are of high importance. In particular, a total of 14 Masses composed by him can be divided into early and later periods. the early masses the baroque music style and classical music style appeard at the same time. In later period masses Haydn’s symphonic style was added to early masses style. 《Missa brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo》, his early Masses work and his last Missa Brevis, was composed to be dedicated to 'John of God (Joannis de Deo)', a group of monks at Eisenstadt Abbey. This work consists of a total of 6 movements: <Kyrie>, <Gloria>, <Credo>, <Sanctus>, <Benedictus>, and <Agnus Dei> and in this study, the soprano solo <Benedictus> was analyzed. This movemnet is called “the Little Organ Masses” because the organ solo is presented in the prelude. To express the lyrics cheering Jesus entering Jerusalem, the use of Basso Continuo, the prelude with a splendid and long organ solo, the motive developed through a sequence and the melody of a soprano solo were used. As a Spanish nationalist composer and pianist, Falla harmoniously used the nationalist style and modern techniques of the time to compose. 《Seven Spanish FolkSongs (Siete canciones populares Españolas)》 consists of a total of 7 pieces: 〈El Paño moruno (The Moorish Cloth)>, 〈Seguidilla Murciana (Moorish Seguidilla)〉, 〈Asturiana>, 〈Jota〉, 〈Nana〉, 〈Canción〉, and 〈Polo〉. These songs harmoniously expressed the characteristics of impressionist music based on Spanish folk music, which can be found through the melismatic melody of Spanish folk songs, the use of church modes, the accompaniment expressing Spanish folk instruments guitar and castanets, the use of dance rhythms, the use of chromatic chords, and the use of conflicting second chords.;본 논문은 필자의 석사과정 이수를 위한 졸업 리사이틀 프로그램 중 프란츠 요제프 하이든(Franz Joseph Haydn, 1732-1809)과 마누엘 데 파야(Manuel de Falla, 1876-1946)의 작품을 분석한 연구이다. 하이든은 고전시대를 대표하는 작곡가로 교향곡, 협주곡, 현악 4중주, 소나타, 오페라, 오라토리오, 미사 등 다양한 곡을 작곡하였다. 특별히 하이든은 총 14곡의 미사를 작곡하였는데, 이는 작곡 시기에 따라 전기 미사와 후기 미사로 분류할 수 있다. 하이든의 전기 미사는 바로크시대와 고전시대의 음악 양식이 공존하며, 후기 미사는 전기 미사의 특징과 하이든의 교향곡 양식이 적절히 조화를 이룬다. 그의 전기 미사 작품이자 마지막 미사 브레비스인 《성 요아니스 데 데오 미사(Missa brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo)》는 아이젠슈타트 수도원의 수도사 단체인 ‘John of God(Joannis de Deo)’에 헌정하기 위해 작곡되었다. 이 미사 작품은 〈자비송(Kyrie)〉, 〈영광송(Gloria)〉, 〈사도신경(Credo)〉, 〈거룩하시도다(Sanctus)〉, 〈축복 있으리라(Benedictus)〉, 〈하나님의 어린양(Agnus Dei)〉의 총 6개의 악장으로 구성되어 있는데, 본 논문에서는 특별히 소프라노 솔로 〈축복 있으리라〉를 분석하였다. 이 곡은 바소 콘티누오의 사용, 모방대위적인 음악 구조, 화려한 선율들이 나타나며 이는 바로크시대의 영향으로 볼 수 있다. 또한, 특정 주제나 동기를 지속적으로 반복, 변형하여 발전시켜서 곡을 구성하였는데, 이는 고전주의의 전형적인 특성으로 볼 수 있다. 따라서 이 작품은 이전 시기인 바로크시대와 고전시대의 음악 양식이 공존하는 하이든 전기미사의 특징을 갖추고 있다. 스페인의 민족주의 작곡가이자 피아니스트인 파야는 민족주의 양식과 당시의 현대적 기법을 조화롭게 사용하여 작곡하였다. 《일곱 개의 스페인 민속노래(Siete canciones populares Españolas)》은 총 7곡으로 〈무어인의 천(El Paño moruno)〉, 〈무어인의 세기디야(Seguidilla Murciana)〉, 〈아스투리아 여인 (Asturiana)〉, 〈호타(Jota)〉, 〈자장가(Nana)〉, 〈노래(Canción)〉, <폴로(Polo)〉로 구성되어 있다. 이 곡들은 스페인 민속음악을 기반으로 인상주의 음악의 특징을 조화롭게 표현하였으며, 스페인 민요의 멜리스마 선율, 교회선법의 사용, 스페인 민속악기인 기타와 캐스터네츠를 표현한 반주부, 춤곡 리듬의 사용, 반음계적 화음의 사용, 부딪히는 2도 화성의 사용 등의 특징을 사용하여 작곡되었다.
