이고르 스트라빈스키의 <Pulcinella Suite> 분석 연구

Abstract

빠르게 변화하는 사회적 환경에 따라 불안감이 급증했던 20세기 초에는 낭만주의 정신에 대해 회의감을 가지고 그 이전의 음악관, 즉 고전주의와 바로크 시기의 음악적 특징을 현대적으로 녹여내려는 사조가 등장하였다. 1920년 경부터 1950년 경까지 지속된 이러한 흐름을 신고전주의라 하며 이고르 스트라빈스키는 이 신고전주의적 경향을 주도한 작곡가이다. 본 논문은 그의 대표적인 신고전주의 작품 중 하나인 <Pulcinella Suite>을 분석하였다. 이 작품은 바로크와 전고전 시기 작곡가들의 곡들을 토대로 하여 작곡된 곡으로, 스트라빈스키는 원곡의 선율과 화성 등을 충실히 재현하였으며 동시에 이를 스트라빈스키 고유의 현대적인 특징인 변박과 불규칙적인 강세, 서로 다른 음형의 갑작스러운 병치 등과 잘 결합하여 표현하였다. 이와 같은 현대적인 표현 방식은 곡의 제목이기도 한 풀치넬라라는 극중 인물과 그 기반 극 장르인 코메디아 델라르테의 성격과도 연결되는데, 이를 통해 스트라빈스키는 16-18세기의 극 장르에서 가져온 과거의 특성과 현대의 음악 어법을 한 데 어우러지게 하였다.이와 같이 스트라빈스키의 <Pulcinella Suite>은 과거의 전통으로부터 온 요소들과 스트라빈스키 특유의 현대적인 음악 어법이 결합된, 신고전주의 사조를 잘 보여주는 작품이라 할 수 있다. 본 논문은 <Pulcinella Suite>을 분석함으로 신고전주의 음악의 의의와 스트라빈스키의 음악에서 보여지는 고유한 특성이 작품의 어느 부분에서 어떤 방식으로 드러나는지 찾고 분석하여 작품을 이해하고 더 나아가 해석하고 연주하는 데 도움이 되고자 한다.;This study is about <Pulcinella Suite>, trying to help understand, interpret, and play this work by revealing the significance of neoclassical music and the unique characteristics of Stravinsky's neoclassical music. In the early 20th century, when anxiety surged due to the rapid change of social environment, there was a tendency to modernize the musical characteristics of the classical and Baroque periods with skepticism about the spirit of romanticism. This trend, which lasted from around 1920 to 1950, is called Neoclassicism, and Igor Stravinsky is the composer who led this neoclassical trend. His work <Pulcinella Suite> is one of the works that clearly reveals the characteristics of Neoclassicism. This music was composed based on the songs of Baroque and Pre-Classical composers. Through this work, I. Stravinsky truly reproduced the melody and harmony of the original song, which are musical heritage of the past. And at the same time, he mixed these with his own modern feature such as irregular time, unexpected strengths, and sudden juxtapositions of entirely different phrases. This modern expression methods also have connections with the characteristics of Pulcinella, who is a character in a play, and Commedia dell’arte, which is a drama genre at 16-18th century. Through this, I. Stravinsky combined the characteristics that are from the former drama genre with modern musical grammar. Therefore, I. Stravinsky's <Pulcinella Suite> can be called a work that fully shows the neoclassical trend, combining elements from the tradition of the past and modern musical language. And this music reflects I. Stravinsky's personalities either, which is distinct from the other neoclassical works of other composers.
