국어생활사 교육 자료의 실제성 강화 방안 연구

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 국어생활사 교육 자료의 실제성 강화 방안을 마련하는 것이다. 국어교육에서 국어생활사에 대한 논의가 지속적으로 이루어졌음에도 불구하고 교육 실행 차원에서는 국어생활사 교육이 활성화하지 못한 상태이다. 국어생활사 교육이 이론적 천착에서 교육 현장으로 나아갈 수 있도록 하기 위해서는, 옛 언어생활의 역동적 모습을 살펴볼 수 있는 국어 자료의 적절한 선정 및 구안이 전제되어야 한다. 본 논의에서는 지금까지 국어생활사 교육 자료에 실제성이 부족하였던 점에 주목하여, 연구 대상인 『규합한훤』류 자료를 중심으로 실제성이 강화된 국어생활사 교육 자료를 구축·마련하고자 하였다. 국어생활사는 기존의 내사(內史) 중심의 국어사 교육의 문제점들이 화두에 오르면서 그에 대한 보완책으로 제시된 새로운 관점이다. 기존의 국어사 교육이 국어의 내적 체계의 변화를 주로 다루었다면 국어생활사 교육은 인간 주체가 국어를 부려 쓰는 상황의 생활적 측면에 주목하여 인간과 국어의 변천을 함께 아울러 다루는 관점이라 할 수 있다. 근본적으로 ‘언어’와 ‘세계’, ‘인간’은 떼려야 뗄 수 없는 유기적 관계 속에서 위치한다는 점, 또한 학습자들이 옛 국어에 대한 지식을 온전히 내면화하기 위해서는 그들의‘지금-여기의 언어적 경험’을 ‘과거 인간의 언어적 경험’과 함께 다루는 것이 타당하다는 점에 있어 국어생활사는 국어교육에서 반드시 다루어야 할 기술 대상이라 할 수 있다. 그럼에도 국어교육계에서는 여전히 ‘국어생활사’를 다루기 위한 자료로 어떤 텍스트가 선정되어야 하는지, 자료 선정 이후에는 어떠한 방식으로 자료가 구축되어야 하는지에 대한 논의가 부진한 실정이다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 ‘국어생활사 교육 자료’, ‘자료의 실제성’에 초점을 맞추어 가장 먼저 이론적 검토를 진행하였다. Ⅱ장 A절에서는 국어생활사 및 국어생활사 교육 관련 연구물들을 면밀히 검토하면서 국어생활사의 성격과 핵심 강조 지점을 파악하고자 하였다. Ⅱ장 B절에서는 언어교육 내 텍스트 실제성 이론을 검토하여 실제성 구인의 기본 방향을 논하고, 이를 통해 본 논의에서 다루고자 하는 ‘텍스트 실제성’이 무엇인지 천착하고자 하였다. Ⅱ장 C절에서는 이론적 검토 결과를 토대로, 지금까지 국어생활사 교육 자료 및 활동에서 실제성이 부족하였음을 비판적으로 검토하였다. Ⅲ장의 논의를 통해서는, 이론적 검토의 기반들을 중심으로 실제성 강화를 위한 국어생활사 교육 자료 선정의 기초를 갖추고자 하였다. Ⅲ장 A절에서는 국어생활사 교육 자료 선정 원리로서의 텍스트 실제성 구인으로 ‘실세계 실제성’, ‘교실 상황 실제성’, ‘학습자 실제성’을 제안하였으며, Ⅲ장 B절에서는 연구 대상인 『규합한훤』류가 ‘한글 편지 모범규식집’이라는 점을 고려하여 실제성 중심의 국어 자료로서 한글 편지 모범규식집의 특질 및 위상을 밝히고자 하였다. 한글 편지 모범규식집은 옛 국어 주체들의 역동적 국어 실천의 대상이 되었다는 점, 당대의 언중 일상을 포섭하는 국어 활동 매체였다는 점, 한글 편지가 지닌 장르적 특성이나 장르적 역사성으로 인해 현대 학습자 요인과 밀접한 관련성을 지닌다는 점에서 실제성 중심의 국어생활사 교육 자료로서 가치가 있다. Ⅳ장에서는 본격적으로 연구 대상인 『규합한훤』류 자료를 분석하였다. 『규합한훤(閨閤寒暄)』은 ‘혼인’이라는 격식적 의례 상황에서 활용해야 했던 편지 예문이 실려 있는 한글 편지 모범규식집(模範規式集)이다. ‘『규합한훤』류’란, 『규합한훤』과 『규합한훤』의 이본(異本)군을 지칭하는 것이다. 지금까지 발견된 『규합한훤』류 이본군은 숙명여자대학교 영인본 『규합한훤』, 장혜자 소장본 『규간』, 부평역사박물관 소장본 『녀자언문간독』, <행주 기씨 고봉 기대승 종가 소장 한글 편지>(이하 <고종 종가 한글 편지>) 의 총 네 가지로 정리할 수 있다. 본고에서는 『규합한훤』류 자료들을 거시적-미시적 관점, 공시적-통시적 관점을 복합적으로 고려하여 맥락화(contextualization)하며 분석하였으며, 이러한 분석을 통해 국어생활사 교육 자료 구안을 위한 토대를 마련하고자 하였다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 편지 예문의 형식 및 구성, 언어 표현 등이 매우 격식적인 『규합한훤』에는 당대 예(禮)적 언어생활을 하고자 했던 반가(班家) 여성들의 실제적 요구가 반영되어 있었다. 둘째, 이본군을 포함한 『규합한훤』류에서는 그 이본군의 파생이 이루어짐으로써 매우 역동적인 국어생활 변천 양상을 보이고 있었다. 규식 체재가 변화하거나 소통 맥락이 변화한 양상, 격식적 구성 및 표현을 필사 주체가 응용하여 변개가 이루어진 모습, 시대적 흐름에 따라 근대적 언어생활의 모습이 첨가된 부분들을 살펴볼 수 있다. 마지막으로 Ⅴ장에서는 국어생활사 교육 자료 선정 및 구안의 실제를 제안하였다. 국어생활사 교육 자료 제공 시 고려해야 할 지점들에 대해 방향성을 제시하였고, 『규합한훤』류를 자료를 직접 활용하여 실제 활동 구성의 예를 구체화하였다. 본 연구는 국어생활사 교육의 활성화를 위해 ‘국어 자료’에 초점을 맞추어 구체적인 방향성을 논의하였다는 점, 지금까지 국어 자료로서 주목받지 못하였던 『규합한훤』류 자료의 면밀한 분석을 통해 국어 자료 선정·구안의 실제를 마련하였다는 점에서 의의를 찾을 수 있다.;The purpose of this study is to prepare a plan to enhanced then the authenticity of teaching materials on the history of Korean language life. Despite continuous discussion regarding the history of Korean language life in Korean language education, education focused on the history of Korean language life has not yet been activated in the educational field. In order for education on the history of Korean language life to move from mere theoretical investigation into educational practice, it is necessary to properly select and devise Korean language texts that can be used to examine the dynamic aspects of old language life. For this reason, in this study, while focusing on the lack of authenticity in teaching materials on the history of Korean language life so far, the author attempted to establish and prepare teaching materials regarding the history of Korean language life with enhanced authenticity, focusing on the data of the 『Gyu-hab-han-hwon』 lines, which is the subject of the study. The history of Korean language life presents a new perspective achieved as a complementary measure to the existing problems of Korean history education that are centered on internal history. If existing Korean language history education mainly deals with changes in the internal system of the Korean language, the history of Korean language life education offers up a perspective that deals with the changes of humans and the Korean language together by paying special attention to the living aspects of the situations in which the human subject uses the Korean language. Essentially, ‘language', ‘world', and ‘human' exist in an inseparable organic relationship, so it is essential for learners to deal with the ‘current linguistic experience' along with the ‘past human linguistic experience'. Therefore, the History of Korean language life can be said to be a technical object that must be dealt with in Korean language education. Nevertheless, in the Korean language education community, discussions on which text should be selected for the ‘History of Korean language life' and how the text should be constructed after selecting the text are still lacking. Accordingly, in this study, a theoretical review was conducted first, focusing on ‘teaching materials regarding the history of Korean language life’ and the ‘authenticity of texts'. In Chapter Ⅱ, Section A, this study attempted to grasp the nature and key points of emphasis of the history of Korean language life by closely reviewing the studies related to the history of Korean language life and teaching materials on the history of Korean language life. In Chapter Ⅱ, Section B, this study reviewed the theory of text realism in language education in order to discuss the basic direction in which to draw authenticity, and through this method, this study attempted to investigate how ‘text authenticity' is to be dealt with in regards to this discussion. In Chapter Ⅱ, Section C, this study critically reviewed the lack of authenticity in teaching materials regarding the history of Korean language life and the activities in the history of Korean language life so far based only on theoretical review results. Through discussions in Chapter Ⅲ, this study sought to establish a foundation for the selection of teaching materials on the history of Korean language life to enhanced authenticity based on the theoretical review. In Chapter Ⅲ, Section A, this study proposed ‘real world authenticity', ‘classroom situation authenticity', and ‘learner authenticity' as the principles of selecting teaching materials on the history of Korean language life. In Chapter Ⅲ, Section B, this study attempted to clarify the characteristics and status of the Hangeul letter manuscripts as an authentically centered Korean language text, considering the fact that the subject of the study, the 『Gyu-hab-han-hwon』 lines, is a ‘manuscripts of formal Hangeul letters’ A manuscripts of Hangeul letters is valuable as an authentically centered teaching materials on the history of Korean language life in that it was the subject of dynamic Korean language practice, a Korean language activity medium that encompassed daily life of the time, and is closely related to modern learner factors due to the genre characteristics and genre history of Hangeul. In Chapter Ⅳ, this study deeply analyzes the texts of the 『Gyu-hab-han-hwon』 lines, which is the primary subject of study. The term ‘『Gyu-hab-han-hwon』 lines’ refers to 『Gyu-hab-han-hwon』, which belongs to the manuscripts of formal Hangeul letters and different versions of 『Gyu-hab-han-hwon』. The different versions of 『Gyu-hab-han-hwon』 found so far can be separated into four categories: 『Gyu-hab-han-hwon』, which is the photo-printed version found at Sookmyung Women's University, 『Gyu-gan』, which is in Jang Hyeja's collection, 『Nyeoja-onmun-gandok』, which is in the collection of the Bupyeong History Museum, and the <Hangul letters by the Kis’ Main Branch Gobong of the Clan Hangju>. The 『Gyu-hab-han-hwon』 lines were analyzed through contextualization by looking at them through both a macro-microscopic perspective and a public-notice perspective, and through this analysis, this study intended to lay the foundation for the development of teaching materials on the history of Korean language life. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, the example of the letter that had to be used in the formal ritual of ‘marriage' is contained in the 『Gyu-hab-han-hwon』. Accordingly, it can be confirmed that the format, composition, and language expression of the letter were also extremely formal. Various formalities were standardized according to the relationship between sending and receiving, and the purpose of sending letters also displayed a special purpose. Second, in the 『Gyu-hab-han-hwon』 lines, a very dynamic change in Korean language life was shown to be due to the derivation of the different versions. The author can observe the changes in the regular system or communication context, the changes made by applying formal composition and expression through the use of the transcription subject, and the addition of modern language life that follows the trend of the times. Finally, in Chapter Ⅳ, this study proposed the selection of teaching materials on the history of Korean language life. Moreover, this study presented the direction for points to be considered when providing teaching materials on the history of Korean language life, and embodied an example of actual activity composition by directly utilizing tests of the history of Korean language life. Given the results of the study, it is significant in that it focused on ‘Korean text' as a means to revitalize the history of Korean language life, and prepared the actuality of selecting and constructing Korean data through a close analysis of the text of the 『Gyu-hab-han-hwon』 lines, which has not been noted as a Korean text in studies until now.
