역공간 관점으로 바라본 하이퍼로컬 플랫폼의 특성 및 구현요소에 관한 연구

Abstract

Urban space reflects social changes over time. Modern city standardized due to industrialization and globalization is now facing a new phase in transition to human-centric paradigm. As the importance of neighborhood, which has been lost since modern times, is newly highlighted, local space for informal public life appears. In this recent social trend, hyper-local platform rapidly grows. Hyper-local platform planned and operated by local creators is variable space creating local values and multidimensional communities. Hyper-local platform is a hybrid space that shows publicity in private space and is worthy noting as it is self-sustaining public space. However, studies on the roles and characteristics of hyper-local platforms in city are lacking. Therefore, this study examines the developing process of hyper-local platform and analyze spatial and operational attributes through case study to identify characteristics of hyper-local platforms in which public and private realm, culture and consumption are mixed, and understand implementation elements. Hyper-local platform began appearing around 2010 with the emergence of local creators and have been developing in accordance with social changes such as changes in consumption propensity, development of digital media, and changes in household composition. For sustainable growth through differentiated value, hyper-local platform tends to combine multi-purposes and pursue community business. Compound hyper-local platform such as co-working and co-living spaces, community hotels, and cultural complex forms community in diverse level as a regional anchor space producing local value. In order to analyze the cases of the hyper-local platform from the perspective of liminal space, the frame of analysis was deducted by three strategies of liminal space based on the literature and implementation element and expected effects identified through preceding studies. The subjects of the case study were appointed by examining previous studies and analyzing trends of hyper-local platforms. In addition, as differences due to surrounding context are expected, geographical scope of cases was limited to urban context. As a result, spatial characteristics were shown through differentiated site selection, utilization of existing spatial elements through renovation, continuity of space, and uncertainty of space. Operational characteristics were re-leasing through long-term leasing of underused space, systematic and complex programs, and events with similarities. Each cases showed different details in implementation element, but the spatial and operational characteristics mutually influence and strengthen effects. Through space design considering operation and changeability, hyper-local platform establish themselves as a space producing and sharing local values in a sustainable means. Hyper-local platform is a liminal space where public and private realms and culture and consumption coexist, and is a major place to revitalize contemporary city. This study shifts from the dichotomy through an liminal perspective and interprets the hybrid characteristics and implementation elements of hyper-local platform in multidimension. This study has significance as correlation of the spatial and operational characteristics of hyper-local platforms were derived and analyzed. This study is meaningful as a theoretical guide for designing and planning of hyper-local platform.;도시공간은 시간의 흐름에 따른 사회적 변화를 반영한다. 산업화와 세계화로 인해 획일화되어온 도시공간은 사람 중심 패러다임으로의 전환 속에서 새로운 국면을 맞이하고 있다. 근대 이후 상실되었던 동네의 중요성이 새로이 부각되면서 로컬을 중심으로 하는 비공식적 공공생활의 공간이 나타나고 있다. 이러한 사회적 추세에서 하이퍼로컬 플랫폼은 최근 빠르게 성장하고 있다. 하이퍼로컬 플랫폼은 로컬 크리에이터에 의해 기획 및 운영되며 로컬의 가치를 창조하고 다차원적 커뮤니티를 형성하는 유동적 공간이다. 하이퍼로컬 플랫폼은 민간 주체에 의해 나타나고 운영되는 사적 공간이지만 현대적 공공성이 나타나는 혼성적 공간으로 현대도시에서 새롭게 등장한 자생적인 공적 공간으로서 주목할 필요가 있다. 하지만 하이퍼로컬 플랫폼이 도시 내에서 수행하는 역할과 그 특성에 관한 연구는 부족하다. 따라서 본 연구는 공성과 사성, 문화와 소비가 혼재되어 나타나는 하이퍼로컬 플랫폼의 특성을 밝히고 구현요소를 세부적으로 파악하고자 하이퍼로컬 플랫폼의 변천 과정과 특성을 살피고, 역공간 관점의 사례 연구를 통해 공간적·운영적 특성을 밝히고자 하였다. 하이퍼로컬 플랫폼은 로컬 크리에이터의 등장과 함께 2010년 무렵 나타나기 시작하였으며 소비성향의 변화, 디지털 매체의 발전, 가구 구성 변화의 사회적 변화에 따라 발전해왔다. 차별적 가치를 통한 지속가능한 성장을 위한 과정으로 하이퍼로컬 플랫폼은 다양한 용도를 복합화하고 이를 통해 커뮤니티 비즈니스를 지향하는 경향을 보인다. 복합화된 하이퍼로컬 플랫폼의 유형인 코워킹 및 코리빙 스페이스, 커뮤니티 호텔, 복합문화공간은 로컬리티를 활용하여 가치를 생산하는 지역의 거점 공간으로 다양한 차원의 커뮤니티를 형성한다. 역공간 관점으로 하이퍼로컬 플랫폼의 사례를 분석하기 위하여 문헌을 바탕으로 역공간의 세 가지 전략을 파악하고 관련 선행연구를 통해 파악한 역공간 구현요소와 기대효과를 도출하여 분석의 틀을 설정하였다. 사례 연구의 대상은 선행연구 및 하이퍼로컬 플랫폼의 변화 경향 분석을 검토하여 최근의 경향성을 파악할 수 있으며 안정적으로 운영되고 있는 곳으로 설정하였다. 또한, 주변 맥락에 따른 차이가 나타날 수 있을 것으로 판단하여 도시적 맥락을 가진 서울시로 지리적 범위를 한정하였다. 사례를 분석한 결과 공간적 특성은 차별화된 입지 선정, 리노베이션을 통한 기존 공간요소 활용, 연속성 있는 경계적 공간, 불확정적인 공간의 불확정성을 통해 나타나고 있었으며 운영적 특성은 지역의 사회문화적 자원의 생산 및 활용, 유휴공간의 장기임대를 통한 재임대 방식, 유기적으로 작동하는 복합적 프로그램 구성, 유사성을 갖는 이벤트를 통해 나타나고 있었다. 사례별로 각 구현요소의 특징에는 차이가 있으나 공간적·운영적 특성은 상호 영향을 주며 효과를 강화한다. 운영방식과 변화가능성을 고려한 공간 설계를 통해 하이퍼로컬 플랫폼은 지속가능한 방식으로 로컬의 가치를 생산하고 공유하는 공간으로 자리매김하고 있다. 하이퍼로컬 플랫폼은 공적·사적 영역과 문화·소비가 혼재하는 역공간으로써 현대도시를 활성화하는 주요한 장소다. 본 연구는 역공간적 관점을 통해 이분법적 관점을 탈피하여 유동적이고 혼성적인 하이퍼로컬 플랫폼의 특성 및 구현요소를 다차원적으로 해석하였다. 공간적·운영적 차원에서 하이퍼로컬 플랫폼의 특성을 도출하고 그 연관성을 분석하였다는 데에 본 연구의 의의가 있다. 본 연구가 이퍼로컬 플랫폼의 기획 및 계획에 이론적 지침으로 활용되기를 기대한다.
