취업모의 일-가정 갈등 및 향상이 학령초기 아동의 행동문제에 미치는 영향

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the direct effect of employed mothers’ work-family conflict and enrichment on children’s behavior problems and indirect effect through mothers’ psychological well-being and parenting behaviors. A total of 274 employed mothers with first-grade elementary school children were the subjects of this study. Employed mothers completed the questionnaire that included measures of their work-family conflict, work- family enrichment, mothers’ psychological well-being and parenting behaviors, children’s behavior problems. Data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 23.0 statistics program for Correlation and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Also, bootstrapping methods was used to evaluate the significance of the mediating effect, and Phantom variables were used to estimate the mediating effect of each of the psychological well-being and parenting behaviors of employed mothers. The main findings of this study were as follows : First, employed mothers’ work-family conflict and enrichment did not directly affect children’s behavior problems. Second, neither mothers’ psychological well-being nor parenting behavior was a significant single mediator in the relationship between employed mothers’ work-family conflict and work-family enrichment and children’s behavior problems. Third, the work-family conflict and enrichment of employed mothers influenced children's behavioral problems by sequentially mediating their psychological well-being and negative parenting behaviors. This study expanded previous studies that focused only on the work-family conflict by examining the indirect effect of both work-family conflict and enrichment on children's behavioral problems. Also, the result of this study suggests the importance of employed mothers’ psychological well-being in the indirect path. Furthermore, it will help support dual-income parents with early school-age children and can be used as a source in intervention programs for parents and children. Findings from this study can be used as a support dual-income parents with early school-age children and as a source in developing intervention programs for parenting behavior.;본 연구의 목적은 취업모의 일-가정 갈등 및 향상이 학령초기 아동의 행동문제에 미치는 직접적인 영향과, 취업모의 일-가정 갈등 및 향상이 심리적 안녕감과 양육행동을 통해 아동의 행동문제에 미치는 간접적인 영향을 살펴보는 것이다. 이를 위해 자녀가 초등학교 1학년생인 274명의 취업모를 대상으로 질문지법을 사용하여 자료를 수집하였다. 취업모의 일-가정 갈등은 Carlson 등(2000)이 개발한 일-가정 갈등 척도를 김수정(2015)이 번역한 척도를 사용하여 측정하였으며, 일-가정 향상은 Carlson 등(2006)이 개발한 일-가정 향상 척도를 김수정 등(2012)이 번역한 척도를 사용하여 측정하였다. 취업모의 심리적 안녕감은 Ryff(1989)의 심리적 안녕감 척도를 김명소 등(2001)이 구성타당도를 검증하여 수정한 척도를 사용하여 측정하였다. 양육행동은 이선희와 도현심(2012)이 개발한 학령초기 자녀의 부모용 양육행동 척도를 긍정적 양육행동과 부정적 양육행동으로 구분하여 사용하였다. 아동의 행동문제는 Goodman(1997)의 강점·난점 설문지(The Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire [SDQ])를 안정숙 등(2003)이 한국어판으로 제작한 척도 중 과잉행동과 품행문제 문항을 선택하여‘행동문제’로 변인을 산출해 측정하였다. 수집한 자료는 SPSS 22.0을 활용하여 상관관계분석을 실시하였으며, AMOS 23.0을 통해 구조방정식(Structural Equation Modeling [SEM]) 모형을 분석하였다. 또한 매개효과가 유의한지 평가하기 위해 부트스트래핑 방법(bootstrapping methods)을 실시하였으며, 취업모의 심리적 안녕감과 양육행동의 개별적인 매개효과를 추정하기 위해 팬텀변수를 설정하였다. 본 연구의 주요 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 취업모의 일-가정 갈등 및 향상은 초등학교 1학년 아동의 행동문제에 직접적인 영향을 미치지 않았다. 둘째, 취업모의 일-가정 갈등 및 향상이 행동문제에 미치는 영향에서 심리적 안녕감과 양육행동 각각의 매개효과는 나타나지 않았다. 셋째, 취업모의 일-가정 갈등 및 향상은 심리적 안녕감과 부정적 양육행동을 순차적으로 매개하여 학령초기 아동의 행동문제에 영향을 미쳤다. 본 연구는 취업모의 일-가정 및 향상이 학령초기 아동의 행동문제에 미치는 영향을 확인함으로써, 일-가정 갈등에 주로 초점을 두었던 기존의 연구를 확장하고, 일-가정 향상의 중요성을 강조하였다. 또한, 심리적 안녕감과 부정적 양육행동의 순차적 매개효과를 통해 일-가정 갈등 및 향상이 아동에게 영향을 미치기 위해서는 취업모의 심리적 요인과 행동을 모두 고려해야 하며, 특히 심리적 안녕감이 선행되어야 함을 제안하였다. 나아가, 본 연구의 결과는 학령초기 자녀를 둔 맞벌이 부모를 지원하는 방안을 마련하고, 부모 및 아동의 행동을 변화시키기 위한 프로그램의 기초 자료가 될 수 있을 것이다.
