Abstract

This thesis aimed to analyze and study for the achievements of Domenico Carlo Maria Dragonetti(1763-1846), including his Double Bass Concerto in A Major. His concerto was known to make an great influence on the development of double bass in the classical era. Dragonetti was a brilliant double bass player and composer during the 18th century. He developed staccato technique which needed excellent bow technique. So, what we call, Dragonetti Bow, was improved from the bows at that time, and also had a great influence on those double bass players in his days. In addition, he had such outstanding performance skills that some virtuosos, -such as Beethoven, Haydn, Mozart and so on-, whom he interacted during the stay in Vienna, were inspired by him. His Concerto in A Major is an important piece in the history of double bass, and it is one of the masterpieces that showed the possibility to consider the double bass from a string to a solo instrument. The concerto made us take into account various playing methods, such as chords, harmonies, arpeggios to be used for expanding the limited range of musical effects as double bass give as possible. In this paper, it was the characteristics and history of the double bass, the life and music of Dragonetti that were examined. Then, the harmony and structural characteristics of the Concerto in A Major were also explored. From that time on, they have been actively performed up to now, and still it was believed that his work led us to think as an essential repertoire for double bass players. I wish I could help you understand and refer it when you play on the stage or practice.;본 논문은 고전시대의 더블 베이스 발전에 큰 기여를 한 도메니코 드라고네티(Domenico Carlo Maria Dragonetti, 1763-1846)의 업적과 그가 작곡한 Double Bass Concerto in A Major에 대한 분석 및 연구이다. 드라고네티는 18세기 고전시대의 더블 베이스 연주자이자 작곡가이다. 뛰어난 활 테크닉을 토대로 스타카토 주법을 개발하였고 기존 활을 개량하여 선보인 드라고네티 활은 당시 연주자들에게 큰 영향을 끼쳤다. 또한 그는 뛰어난 연주 실력을 통해 베토벤, 하이든, 모차르트 등 당대 최고의 작곡가들과도 교류하며 그들의 작품 활동에 영감을 주었다. 그가 작곡한 Concerto in A Major는 더블 베이스를 합주악기에서 독주악기로 자리 잡을 수 있도록 가능성을 보여준 곡들 중 하나라는 점에서 더블 베이스의 역사에서도 중요한 의미가 있는 곡이다. 곡의 구성에 있어 화음, 하모닉스, 아르페지오와 같은 다양한 연주법을 활용하여 더블 베이스가 줄 수 있는 음악 효과의 제한적인 영역을 확대하였다. 본 논문에서는 더블 베이스의 특징과 역사, 드라고네티의 생애와 음악에 대해 살펴보고, 현재까지 활발히 연주되며 더블 베이스 연주자에게 필수적인 레퍼토리로 자리 잡은 Concerto in A Major의 화성과 구조적 특징의 분석을 통해서 곡의 이해를 도와 실제 연주에도 참고 할 수 있길 바란다.
